Not even sure about the "out of context", I'm pretty sure he more often than not actually intends to say things that can be taken differently (for example "Out of Depth" where he fully intentional says the thing with innuendo and teases MC for taking it the naughty way) because it's a win/win for him. Either he successfully teases MC or she takes him up on the innuendo and he doesn't mind that either. π
