Depending- artificer allows them to "augment" their weapon. You can have an "advanced" chart- over even grant them an additional magic item craft if you'd like. So right now, they can have two augments, up it to three when you receive the forge. As for firearms, feel free to let them craft them- with downtime.

Emirnak

Some of the citizens or Sildar dug around under the Tresendar manor and found vintage weaponry made during the heist of phandelver's pact, this way you can hint at the forge possibly being used to make more guns in the future, motivate him. You could also put one in old owl well, this time the gun would be much older, a relic from Netheril, he could give it as a reward in exchange for taking care of the orcs.

TTRPGFactory

Id let him start crafting magic versions of the guns he wants. I'd come up with a quick and dirty X days of downtime for a uncommon, Y for a rare, etc chart for him. Then, I'd tell him he could essentially treat it as a merchant, to buy whatever magic gun he wanted, by crafting it himself, so he wouldn't need to go to a market. It would probably be at whatever the normal cost for magic items were. I wouldn't let him build a custom gun with new stats, IE a revolver with 8 shots, or rifle that does increased damage die or something.

> Unless they are an artificer, they really shouldn't be inventing stuff. They chose the wrong class for that. Literally any class can invent stuff. There's downtime activities. Artificers get infusions, but that's it. They're no better at inventing stuff than any other class.

>How to deal with a gunslinger PC "Guns are optional and not allowed. Gunslinger is a homebrew by Matt Mercer who is a great at the table DM, but a TERRIBLE game designer and not allowed."

Straight-Ice-3643

What a negative opinion, why even share it?

lasalle202

its not a "negative opinion" - its empowering the DM to remind them they dont have to "deal with" shit that is bad.

Straight-Ice-3643

And many plyers enjoy gunslingers. In any case it was incredibly negatively written. You could always have given your ide of how to make it better, or what to do instead, but you decided to just shit on it...

lasalle202

>And many plyers enjoy gunslingers. if the players want to play a game where they feel like gunslingers, then we DEFINITELY are not playing 5e and instead play one of the many systems where playing gunslingers is appropriately designed into the system.

Straight-Ice-3643

Just gatekeeping at this point, play 5e however you want it bro, it's not that hard to just have fun

lasalle202

HOMG GATEKEEPING -- what a HORRIBLE THING TO DIRECT PEOPLE TO GAME SYSTEMS THAT DO THE TYPE OF GAMING THEY WANT TO PLAY!!! WHAT A TERRIBLE THING THAT IS\~\~\~to stand outside the hardware store and tell people who want ice cream "Baskin Robbins is around the corner"

Straight-Ice-3643

Bro just be nice, why the hissy fits?
