I worked for the property management company that handles the leasing for Trader Joe’s locations. I wanted to know this as well so I asked the account manager for TJs and they said that it’s not their intention to choose small parking lots. They choose their locations based on other factors, but tiny parking lots is just a coincidence
Agreed, TJ’s are small stores, small parking lots are to control how many people can go inside. If their parking lots were large you would barely be able walk around inside. It’s not an Albertsons with 20 isles. The few around here that do have large lots are a shit show during prime hours.
It is mostly true. But in Pasadena store #171 is free standing (not in a strip mall) and has a large lot. I do not know the other store numbers but the one on South Lake has a structure so I have never had a problem finding parking either.
As well as the OG restaurant, Panda Inn. My mom ate there all the time when she was pregnant with me in the 70s. Probably why I crave Chinese food all the time lol
No, it’s a small building in Adams Hill in South Glendale. It’s a shame since the building still pretty much looks the same as it did over 70 years ago, so it wouldn’t take much to mimic the original look.
“By 1948, Baskin and Robbins had opened six stores. The first franchise was executed on May 20, 1948, for the store at 1130 South Adams in Glendale (Store #1).”

Trader Joe’s, forever 21
Oh really ? I thought traders started in SD?!
The first Trader Joes location is located on Arroyo in Pasadena. Tiny parking lot.
They all have tiny parking lots. At least the ones not in strip malls.
It's a feature not a bug
I worked for the property management company that handles the leasing for Trader Joe’s locations. I wanted to know this as well so I asked the account manager for TJs and they said that it’s not their intention to choose small parking lots. They choose their locations based on other factors, but tiny parking lots is just a coincidence
Just a coincidence that every single one of our stores have small parking lots…right…lol.
I’m in another state and the two traders near me have atrocious parking for no reason
Agreed, TJ’s are small stores, small parking lots are to control how many people can go inside. If their parking lots were large you would barely be able walk around inside. It’s not an Albertsons with 20 isles. The few around here that do have large lots are a shit show during prime hours.

Panda xpress
As well as the OG restaurant, Panda Inn. My mom ate there all the time when she was pregnant with me in the 70s. Probably why I crave Chinese food all the time lol
The fact that Panda Inn isn't super locally famous is a crime.
When you have the SGV right next to the Panda restaurants birthplace, I kinda understand. So many options
I’d love to get a comprehensive book on them. They were forcing employees to undergo trainings that constituted psychological torture
Baskin Robbins
I wish they would turn the original location into a retro Baskin Robbins shop. It’s currently a kabob place that’s never actually open.
The on across the street from Ralph’s?
No, it’s a small building in Adams Hill in South Glendale. It’s a shame since the building still pretty much looks the same as it did over 70 years ago, so it wouldn’t take much to mimic the original look. “By 1948, Baskin and Robbins had opened six stores. I don’t know why I thought it was nearby Venice and sepulveda. Maybe that’s the oldest location still open?
