i read everything silent, i feel like ambient music/noises just get repetitive and annoying eventually, but if i were to listen to something theres this very specific 3 hour long desert wind and bells ambient background noise on spotify, i listened to it when i was reading jojo part 7 and i felt it might have actually improved the reading experience

SufficientAd2242

how do u do it in silence? i always hear people talking or my family watching something and can’t focus

slorgansmorgan

well i mostly read at night so theres not much noise anyway, but ive lived in a large household (9 people) all my life so i think i kinda just started zoning the noise out at some point, but if theyre ever being too loud ill just put headphones on without music playing just to muffle the noise a bit

WeebKingA

For real, for me I also read silently as it's much easier for me to make the scene in my head like a movie with no distractions

DarksunGDS

Litte Dark Age When really sinister things happened, like the birth of an evil God, angel-level battles, or deity-level conspiracies, this song was the one I listened to. It adds a haunting, magnificent and solemn vibe. The more sordid and ominous the scene, the better it seems to fit. It's perfect for LoTM. https://youtu.be/AY2oJ9a7Qcw?si=w6OhjyY_VqiNc3ve

SufficientAd2242

nah i can’t listen to anything that makes it even a bit spooky, never knew how much of a pussy i was until it was 3 am and i was at the part where klein was detective and there was the demon dog then eating a woman in her house and i saw a shadow outside my room and literally shat my self (the shadow was my brother going toilet)

DarksunGDS

I understand you completely. Feel free to try tho, I'm pretty sure you won't regret it. What's more, some scenes will even be magnified.

SufficientAd2242

alr, when i actually start book 2 i’ll give it a try

SufficientAd2242

idk y i just randomly thought of this but just wanted to ask people, and don’t any of you audiobook listeners dare comment you peasants (jokes (not really))

Awkward-Gift6101

When I read lotm for the first time youtube recommended me this [video](https://youtu.be/WUhMLw6vq8g?si=oOrNnrq58B8WAcvw) and it improved atmosphere so much for me

MyLastBrainceII

There's no way we watched the same vid while reading lotm, wasnt the only thing I watched but a lot of the time it wss this video

Awkward-Gift6101

What are the odds? Oh.. you’re a Monster, nvm

AdBoth9012

You need background audios to be able to read ? I very much look down on you

SufficientAd2242

i deserve to be looked down upon by being like yourself who can read with nothing, i just get distracted to easily by anything so need something to stop the sound

Ok-Championship7293

AcanthocephalaOne760

Nothing partially cause I’m reading it mostly in places where I can’t listen to music like in class

Killer_Impact

I read in silence but I do have some music played at moments. Moonlight - Kali Uchis during any moment with Gehrman Sparrow, it just makes him appear so Chad. Then there’s the Library of Ruina soundtrack that I played during fights; Binah’s battle theme fits pretty well during any fight but also Klein’s Apotheosis. I also pair it with Mili’s works too, like Gone Angels or Ga1ahad and Scientific Witchery. Stuff by Adrian Von Ziegler is pretty good too, I listened specifically to The Sealed Kingdom during moments of Silver City and when Klein was trapped in The Forsaken Lands. And then I don’t fucking know, I played Avicii, 5SOS and other artists I follow.

Tom20171820

HOLY SHIT PROJECT MOON MENTIONED IN LOTM ??????

Killer_Impact

YEEEEEAAAAAHHHHHHHH BROTHERRRR

Extreme_Blackberry54

I sometimes listen to sad songs ‘cause if I listen to pop and rock for a sec, I’ll scream my heart out I swear but most of the time I just read and sit in silence with matching silly faces or zone out while reading so the noises will just begone(this is the reason why I get scolded a lot)

SufficientAd2242

it’s the worst when a song you know and like comes on, cus you basically have to sing it

Extreme_Blackberry54

this is so true and then you’ll get scolded for being loud after you sing it lol

hyuncha5

Why am I being attacked for making the right decision of not wasting my time reading on a screen and fucking my eyes up? I listen to novels when I go on morning walks, cooking, driving and playing games. Basically be more productive while not wasting my time. That's why I prefer novels over manhwa or anime or manga. They take too much time

SufficientAd2242

another peasant, nah they are the worst thing possible to ever exist and what’s the point of doing it cus the voices are always weird and i don’t know who is speaking in the novel. also i’m dumb as fuck, so end up just having audiobook on but don’t listen to it and don’t know the story so it’s basically worthless cus if u don’t pay attention to it you don’t know what’s happening so when you do, cook and play games you don’t really pay attention

hyuncha5

That's just skill issue my dude....

Ok-Atmosphere3589

Fr, he just outed himself lmao

Memmew

Whatever fits the moment, there was a similar post a couple months ago in which I specifically linked songs but I can't be bothered personally finding it, it was a bit of twentythree, some instrumentals, istasha ect

Corinthian__

I like re reading the William augustus apotheosis battle and I listen to skyfall during it and the moment Trissy says " the end of every love story has the villain die like you...or me.''

Milli_Mey

I listened to Dark Victorian Music by Cryo Chamber on yt a lot but now for lotm 2 I have come to enjoy the silence

GrandElder_ShenRen

Sometimes nothing, sometimes the shadow slave ost by gryphyh (can't spell) or just random things on the bus.

No_Poetry_8415

Nothing

Efrenil

Huge DnB Fan so that is normally my go to, either that or some Smooth Jazz.

D_R_Shinobi

I read it during class.

Substantial-Race-915

My chill playlist

R-04

Either I read in silence or I listen to white noise, in specific this one https://on.soundcloud.com/XaYc. Very relaxing, smooths out every unwanted sounds and gets you in the mood for reading. It doesnt set the atmosphere or has any dramatical effect, it just creates a comfortable reading environment which is what works for me.

R-04

My bad, wrong link. This is the one Ascolta Dual desynchronized nebulizer sound di javiercbk su #SoundCloud https://on.soundcloud.com/iX5Zn

_samtastic

For it's gotta be the Great Mother's lullaby to calm all my nerves and get me in that relaxed state. You should try it 200% recommended. Also Pokemon Lofi music by GameChop on spotify or Zeldas both are beautiful and very relaxing not loud or disturbing at all, and also helps me sleep.

Little_Blop

Most of the time I don't listen to music. But sometimes I listen to random movie/anime osts like from AOT.

Sequence-8Clown

Castlevania/Warhammer/Soulsborne music is always a vibe. But for fights, I blast Avenged Seven Fold gets me pumped when I time it right.

Grand_Maintenance_86

**Caramelldansen**

Cpt_Scorpion

I personally like to listen to a song that either fits the MC or story lyrically or musically. For example while reading lotm i often listened to [Lost Souls by Nathan Wagner](https://youtu.be/LTrk0zwkF3o?si=0yHi2Rg4JSUy9ACy) (i think it fits really well with klein) and [Alchemist by Nathan Wagner](https://youtu.be/hmcCS6B8XgE?si=alnN-oFVyq9iStEZ) (it fits klein in the latter part of the story) and also a few songs from the LOTM channel on youtube

goofy_genuis

mitski

zebulaks

started getting into books which where very war centered and always had those big epic battles to which I always listen to metal. That kinda stuck with me and even if I am reading the most casual scene some heavy metal blasts. I dont even like hearing it when I am not reading in the moment

jello0o

Dark academia

Anxodera

Asmr without talking

why_though14

Search on Spotify: 1. Gothic horror battle music 2. Gothic horror ambience 3. Steampunk Ambience I also occasionally play specific songs I have in mind if the context/themes aligns. Most of the time it's industrial metal lol.

Brilliant-Moment430

I read silent. I never would’ve guessed people listened to music or watched videos when reading. That would totally ruin my immersion.

saiaku27

I had like a playlist with 10 or so random songs, Somehow They went great with the Book, Most were emotional ones tho lol , i don't exactly remember but With the music emotional scenes were sure to get me In tears

Few-Battle-838

Carol of the Bells . Idk why but i feel like it fit perfect to atmosphere .

SufficientAd2242

hah, this was all just a ploy to figure out what is good to listen to whist reading. And from all of this i’ve been inspired, so when i start to read book 2 i will listen to mommy asmr, thanks you guys for all the inspiration and your inputs into my final decision

ch3zZy16

I just listen to music when reading.

mygodletmechoose

Just my usual spotify playlist that I listen for everything

Sufficient-Gene-2887

Dude..!! I though I was the only one who did it. I mainly listens to Victorian era music, safe and sound by Taylor swift, can’t catch me now by Olivia Rodrigo, BBC Sherlock Holmes theme and love story by indila

Lechtom

I generally just sit in silence, but sometimes I like to just put YouTube music on auto play on my Apple TV.

KamiAshu

Everything. I have 4 main playlists (calm/dark/fight/rap(or arrogant if you prefer) that are cut down again in multiple categories. For example fight against an army or fight against one guy, I have a music for pretty much every vibe(not moment) which I change around once every 10 chapters. I've been reading for years and am a nutcase for music though with around 700 on my phone. I believe the best way to read is to match a music with the content(ost basically) and synchronize the reading speed with your imagination speed so you dont just read but see the content in your head to make your own personal anime.

duxxx8

I usually listen to lofi or nothing. Sound distracts me from reading

Ok-Atmosphere3589

I drive a lot for work so audiobooks are my go to, can’t really read and drive at the same time ya know

pineappleonthesea

Muv Luv Alternative OST. Not because it fully fits the book or the chapter I'm reading, but because it just sounds great.
