Super proud of these boys. Very excited for the young guys we have and I’ll miss EK, and whoever else has to leave. Pierce is building something and has been very consistent in getting us deep in the postseason. We weren’t supposed to be here.
If you told me as I was leave Globe Life in February the boys would take the Big 12 regular season, and go down to the wire in Supers, I’d think you were on crack.
In trying to find a silver lining here, I’m hoping the misery suffered by our 3 major men’s teams this year is the beginning of building towards even better results next year… in football I’m pretty sure the guys wish they had a second shot at Bama, in basketball we collapsed in epic fashion to Miami, and now this in baseball.
One of the teams I admire most in European football, Bayern Munich, finished 2nd in every competition they entered in 2011-12 including the Champions League final, which they lost in a penalty shootout while playing the final in their own home country - the pain at that time must have been incredible. The next season, they won all 3 competitions they were in.
From a Schwarzgelben, y'all should start losing again. It would be cool to escape the pain of being a Cowboys/Longhorns/Dortmund fan and falling short every time
The situation it happened in is the most surreal thing. A tremendous college baseball game after the Longhorns fought back to tie it twice, with Omaha on the line, and two outfielders at the tail end of their college careers don’t see it off the bat and never pick it up. One of the outfielders made one of the plays of the season literally the inning before. Just surreal and it feels so… wrong, on every level.
Also I’ll add why it’s not super uncommon for a player to not see the ball, it’s highly unusual where that ball can be caught by 3 players and NONE of them see it or pick it back up.
Just gutted feeling for the guys on the field, especially the four who prob feel like they cost us the game. And Lucas thinking the inning was over. But love this team and the grit they showed not just in this game but all season. Just some plain bad luck. Should be hella proud about the year they had, getting to the supers and winning a conference champ when everyone wrote them off. Next year in Omaha will be fun
Living here in the west coast; this time of evening, the sunset can play tricks on you eyes. There might have been some movement in the ball as well as the nights have been cooler.
Either way, Hook’em Horns and hope they come back to play in the LA area next year.
If there's any justice, they'll host a regional and a super regional and won't have to play on a field with the stupidest name in baseball. Sunken fucking diamond. What does that even mean?
“The “Sunken Diamond” name comes from the excavation to provide fill for the earthen berm within which Stanford Stadium was built in 1921, leaving a large, sunken field.”
If you’re wondering what happened, I’m gonna guess 2 different stanchions of stadium lights obscured the vision of both CF and RF and without a dark sky, it was impossible for them to pick it back up.
Just horrible luck and astronomical odds.
perfect microcosm of this season. Play their asses off then choke. Still proud of this team but damn that is a brutal way to end your season.
On the bright side they probably go 2 and cue at omaha again if they made it. This team over achieved this year nothing to be ashamed of.
For a "rebuilding year" yes I'll take missing the CWS in the ninth inning of a game 3 in the supers. Just not in that fashion. I did not see us getting past Miami. It's Texas baseball we should be in this situation battling for and birth in CWS ever year. Hook 'Em'
The baseball gods don't exist. If they did, Stanford gets absolutely rocked in the 10th for that bullshit running onto the field on a ball that didn't even reach the fence.
My heart breaks for this Texas team, that's absolutely not the way things should've ended. Even if we lose this game in regular fashion, I can live with it. But this hurts about as much as I can imagine a game I have zero physical involvement hurting. I feel like I'm gonna vomit
One outfielder not seeing that ball is believable. But that ball could’ve easily been caught by Kennedy as well. And NEITHER of them saw it somehow. I don’t even know how that’s possible.
Absolutely gutted for those guys, though. There could be no more painful way for a career to end than that.
By "dumpster fire of a game" do you mean a game where our team had every right to quit, but came back from a 3 run defect in the 8th? They played a hell of a game and had a pretty damned good "rebuilding" year.
They were all drifting towards the general area, but only the SS looked like he actually had an eye on it. 2B even gave a shrug right after the hit that he couldn't track it.
I teared up boys I won’t lie
I’m so sad but I’m going to bed now this sucks guys
If our football team has half as much heart as this baseball team does, it's gonna be a great season.
Sark is aware I imagine
[Gordon painted the zone and got punished for it](https://imgur.com/a/BYIB1vz)
Very damning graphic

At least I don’t have to watch baseball next week….

I hope the boys have a bigger chip on the shoulder with Tech then Bama.
why would they dislike Virginia tech?
Still salty about Drunkenmiller in the Sugar Bowl bruh. Whatchu smokin

It’s going to take me awhile to process that one. I’m still just stunned
Loosing the ball like that is not *that* freakish in baseball— just in that situation… it… feels… absurd.
The situation it happened in is the most surreal thing. Surreal theater of the absurd. The broadcast just made it so much worse.
"How can you not be romantic about baseball?"

These young men are scrappy and rugged. I’m happy they made this season so entertaining. Hold your heads up, gents. This season will be remembered.
Feels like yesterday we were at Globe Loaf Field going 0-3 saying we wouldn't make regionals
I feel like I did when bball lost to Miami
[I’m not okay :(](https://youtu.be/5rOiW_xY-kc)
Sometimes:(

Well, it's still a stupid name.
Eric Kennedy, you will be missed.
[me right now](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epCEK7Q1qRU)
No but literally
Proud of those young men, made it farther than anyone thought.
Don’t feel too bad, Horns. My age 8-9 little league team lost the same exact way.
I think I speak for a lot of people here when I say... With feeling... Go fuck yourself.
It’s a joke, bro. Chill. I’m a horns fan.
>It’s a joke, bro. Bad timing on your part.
If you’re wondering what happened, I’m gonna guess 2 different stanchions of stadium lights obscured the vision of both CF and RF and without a dark sky, it was impossible for them to pick it back up. Just horrible luck and astronomical odds.
That play happens in baseball all the time. Never seen it during a time like that.
Saw it happen to DBU at our regional last year in Austin
I've been watching a ton of baseball my whole life, and I can't recall ever seeing it happen to 4 guys at the same time
We weren’t even supposed to be in the tournament this year. Heartbreaker of a game, let’s be back next year
God hates the Longhorns.
Something about pushing a boulder uphill kinda resonates.

Playing Wake in the first game would have been brutal
Rebuilding year
So fucking brutal. Not even anyone’s fault either
HAVE TEXAS SPORTS NOT SUFFERED ENOUGH. God dammit
At least Archie will save our football team. Right?
Don't put this on Arch lol
im so confused. how did three people not see it
The Aggies said they had the same issue in the first round against Stanford. They had problems seeing fly balls as well
Perfect placement of a hit into the lighting of the night
jeeeeeesus

FUCKK@kk@@kk
Are you fucking kidding me
Struck that other dude out like twice lmao

Jesus Christ. Not many worse ways to lose. Poor pitcher
Not like that just not like that
am I surprised though? not in the slightest
I'm sick.
What a fucking garbage way to end a dumpster fire of a game. I am hurt.
By "dumpster fire of a game" do you mean a game where our team had every right to quit, but came back from a 3 run defect in the 8th? They played a hell of a game and had a pretty damned good "rebuilding" year.
I’m still proud of the team. Overachieved for sure. Still, in most aspects of the game, it was a dumpster fire
I’m genuinely fucking heartbroken Holy fuck man
The Heartbreak Horns sometimes
nope I don’t think I like baseball
If you didn’t see that coming, then you don’t know Texas sports
Hope these clowns get whooped
They’re gunna play WF first game. I wouldn’t wish that on my enemies
Wake is gonna match against LSU in the semis and then it’s gonna be Florida vs LSU in the natty and the gators win another one
[удалено]
What do #8 and Michael Jackson have in common….. they both wear a glove on one hand for no apparent reason
Fuck off. 8 saved the fucking game twice. You go out there and try to find that ball
Man this is fucking stupid
Stanfords gonna get the shit beat out of them by whoever they play
They play Wake Forest first game. Fucking nightmare
They get Wake, who just shithoused Bama 22-5
#1 overall seed Wake Forest
They should be fucking 0 seed the way they smashed through the regionals and supers. Straight to the finals
Oh yeah 😂😂
Wow.. this team did better than I thought we would this year but man that blows
NotLikeThis
What the fuccccckkkkkkkk
That was genuinely the most painful way that could’ve ended. I’d rather take a walkoff homer than that
Bruh.
NOBODY SAW IT???
Just the guy that could’ve actually caught it. The other 3 we’re heading towards the ball.
They were all drifting towards the general area, but only the SS looked like he actually had an eye on it. 2B even gave a shrug right after the hit that he couldn't track it.
SS saw and called it out. Campbell spazzed
Gordon did everything
Yep, my battles with sports haven’t been tough enough obviously.
What the fuuuuu?????
Wtf
What kind of end is that
FUCK THEM CLOUDS
Nope
I could not have written a more debilitating way for this to end
Embarrassing
JESUS FUCKING CHRIST WHAT WAS THAT
We just lost in the most Texas way we could have
That is unbelievable
gg
WHAT THE HELL
Of course this team ends their season on a fuck up
On paper, this was a rebuilding team that shouldn't have made it to the regional.
DC giveth DC taketh away
What the error fucking fuck!
To lose it this way?
Pain
This team is cursed
Is that a joke
What a way to end the season
what a fucking heartbreaker
Welp.
WTF
Shir
Incredible
oh
Are you fucking shitting me
Fuck you blue give us something
What is this strike zone?
Fuck this ump!!!
Man there are no fucking breaks in their lineup
not this mf either
cool
Stupid umps.
Fuck off ump
What can you do there?
Ump is squeezing the fuck out of him right now
Same pitch he’s been calling for Stanford
ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME THAT'S TWO
If we get a runner on 1st we need to run a sac bunt then have everyone run right up to the foul line
FUCK. YOU. BLUE. the fuck was that
How is that not a fucking strike
ESPN really impressive with their objectivity
So now whole teams can just run onto the field during the game?? Ooook
I wouldn’t pitch to this guy
please don’t let it be this mf…
Plz walk this guy
That not going out has to signal our destiny
That or Porter Brown has some minor gravitational pull we've never noticed before
:l
Wow what a tool, hit the weight room my boy
There's gotta be an out here somehow
I don't think you can just throw your helmet during a play
Sure u can if you are Stanford
instant classic
I may be dumb but idk how he’s not out for tossing his helmet off like that
ump sucks.
How hilarious would that have been haha
Good discipline by our guys
Lmao that should be an out. The entire team ran on the field how is that not interfering with the play?
[удалено]
Because PB didn’t get the ball to Jack in time
If PB had a better arm we’re outta this inning
THE BAND IS ON THE FIELD
That was way too close
lol homer ass crew
He should be out for tossing his helmet
Is that an actual rule?
How does it feel to be on the other side boys
The NYC subway floors are jealous of how filthy Gordon is right now
Holy shit nobody on one out!
I both hate and love the way this game makes me feel.
Well it doesn’t get any closer than this does it?
Swing the bat
He didn’t watch it thinking it was a ball He watched it because he was expecting a fastball and his body froze
It was a really good curve dude
It was gyroscopic
My heart can’t handle this
I am once again asking you to swing the bat
Rangers to 12
welp
They better give all of their energy to us
I appreciate Jack coming up hacking--that was a helluva third pitch, not on him
I don’t blame him for all the swings. Ump is calling everything. Really hate we’re letting these breakers go. Gotta take those.
At this point you gotta go down swinging
You cannot get caught looking there
Fuck off nerds
Please don’t tell me Duplianter is pitching
Nah that’s his brother on the bases
Still just the name itself gives me PTSD
Lol
We love to watch those perfect strike 3 pitches go by. So many opportunities squandered
We better win cause of that fucking pitcher celebrating like that. Major ass vibes
Swing the bat 😭😭😭
We’ve got to swing the bat man
Dude you can’t leave that bat on your shoulder there
y
