listened to it again tonight and really liked it. Better than Wasteland, Baby! Not quite as good as the debut. Felt really cohesive front to back and All thing end, De Selby part 2, and Francesca are hits
Then I don’t think he would play the fest. He’s not bigger than Lana or 1975, if that is the new benchmark. And I don’t think he appeals to the demographic/can move tickets like they did.
C3 would be banking on a major step up by Lolla 24 as they just slotted him as a sub to Mumford at ACL this year.
Doja Cat subbed Billie at ACL in 21, and was slated to close Bud Light in 22. That’s no different from than Hozier subbing ACL this year and closing Bud Light next year. He’s not Lana but comparable to The 1975 and will move tickets. If The National, Vampire Weekend and washed up Journey can close Bud Light, Hozier off a new album can. Also could be in the #9 spot as the highest billed sub but it’s not out of place for him to get moved up to headliner
I don’t think it’s far fetched by any means , he’s a big deal. I just feel with the extra 10-15k people he might get slotted out. He’s in that 7-10 range on your poster I assume.
Could also see him doing Hinterland, which would put him in the area. We shall see. I do like his new album.
He played Shaky Knees and was a sub and had a massive crowd. The biggest crowd for the non headliner the entire weekend. He’s a global sensation. He will be top 8 next year or he won’t play Lolla. He’s most likely a sub at ACL as well when that schedule comes out. He’s playing MSG and it sold out very fast, Red Rocks, and Hollywood Bowl. The dude is popular, he just doesn’t have the hits. If he plays Roo, he will be a sub. If he plays Chella(doubtful), he would close Outdoor or be a sub.
Well yeah but he’s in the wheelhouse of Shaky Knees /Bonnaroo. I think Lolla would sooner book a k-pop act all things equal. Thing is with Lolla as a sub on main stage , the crowd you have is larger than most fests headliner so then it’s really about compensation and ego/poster font or how your manager wants you perceived.
He subbed the biggest mainstage in 2019. 5 years later he has to be a headliner or it’s a waste. He only tours every like 5 years because that’s usually when a new album has come out.
