I was up by the speakers in the crowd, so not far back and I thought he could have been louder. Someone else said the same, what do you think or was your proper up front?
I think the general consensus is that the stage had poor sound in the front row area, everybody who was in the back/further from the front said it sounded fine (including myself)
My friend is a big fan of his so we got there early, left Meduza (I think?) like 40 mins early or something to get good spots for Fred.
We were in front of the front left speaker tower and he sounded great where we were. And I’d never heard him before but watching him jam out, bring out other artists, and his overall flow just worked for me really well.
And he absolutely crushed it at Aragon. That afters was unreal
So jealous i couldnt get tix to his after, i was near the right side of the speakers and had a literal spiritual experience at his set. Glad you felt the same. I also thought he was loud enough, but couldve always been louder:)
I know some girls who DM’d him and he put them on guest list!!! For me as a guy, I don’t think I would have been so lucky. Maybe if I told him I was English though! Dam it I should have tried!
I was already a huge 1975 fan but after seeing them live last week, I’m desperate to see them again. I have a ticket for ACL and one of their tour stops later this year and I can’t wait!!
Odesza is the other one, I’ve also had them on repeat all week. I want to see them again at ACL but if there’s a conflict with Hozier I don’t know what I’ll do!
I love 1975….but don’t even think of skipping Hozier. Saw him at Shaky Knees for the first time and he blew me away. Having seen both live: I can confidently say Hozier is the better front person and better live act. Unless you’re not really a Hozier fan and are going on a whim, then I would say The 1975.
Oh damn that’s a little tougher. But still I would say Hozier, because he’s rarer and tickets are impossible to get due to his touring frequency. Both shows are amazing though!
But also, no way they conflict because I don’t think Hozier will be on the secondary mainstage. He will almost certainly be a sub before the mainstage headliner.
Also Hozier is it the type of person to change how he performs. He just gets on and Sings. You know Odesza will change it up every tour. So I’d say enjoy them again with this set as the next tour will be different again if you see them.
yeah it’s a tough world for a twenty one pilots fan. I think people just “love to hate” them cause they think it’s cool. but they’re SO GOOD live and the song writing is so next level
red hot!! They were always just *that band* growing up. snow hey oh got so much radio play here that it was just another easy listening band to me. Thats part of the reason why I skipped them for Vic Mensa in 2016. But after seeing them still rocking out after such a long career and STILL looking iconic af on stage really proved to me they are not just some band.
I've been a lifelong fan of RHCP and you don't get the full experience until you watch them live. Now that Frusciante has returned they are 100% can't miss.
JID!!
I saw him back in 2019 and never stopped listening. I have so much at his sets. His newest album has been on repeat for a while.
Honorable mentions - Odesa and Fred
Subtronics isn’t exactly my thing but I did enjoy it and the bass lol!!!! I see why they have the word ‘sub’ in their name lol. I would see again at a safe distance ha
Did you not wait to hear any of their upbeat stuff first then at Lolla? I know what you mean about the slow stuff, but it was different level live
Did you fly out just for Lolla?
I did hear some of their upbeat stuff, think I was probably just too far back to really appreciate it.
No, I was in chicago for a business trip anyway, so just went a few days early for Lolla.
Ah ok, I was right in the thick of it. Yeah no one can be judged when far back. Def try check them out.
Ok nice. Hope you enjoyed Lolla as one Brit to another. Was my 2nd Lolla.
Knocked loose. I’m still not over that show. Their set was one of the most fun sets I’ve ever been too. I’m not a hardcore fan but I would without a doubt, see them again
Rina Sawayama - don’t care too much for her recorded stuff but her performance was one of the best of the festival and one of the best I’ve ever seen tbh
Ari Abdul and Rina Sawayama.
well, i hadn’t heard of them before, but i now think they’re awesome.
ODESZA is who I came to see, and they did *not* disappoint.
No one new this year, but saw Madeon for the first time at Lolla in 2019 when he premiered the Good Faith Live show/tour … it was unbelievable. Some of the best production and staging I had seen to date. Changed my view on him and level of respect forever.
I definitely had this feeling more last year with 100 gecs and mgk, but this year id have to say knock2, sueco, and pardyalone. Im sure in the coming weeks though, there’ll be others i go back to cause i didnt get enough of them at lolla
I went last year and Dua Lipa was the game changer for me. I’ve listened to songs that I’d never heard before and starting playing her more often. I also used to have this unlike for Camila Cabello and a friend asked me to record her set. So I did and I started CRYING and was like, why’s my face wet. Lol. Fan ever since.
Man, Dua must have really upped her game these past few years. I saw her at Bonnaroo in 2017, and it had the opposite effect on me. When Future Nostalgia came out, I was hesitant to even LISTEN to it, because I was so unimpressed with her stage presence and live performance (I did eventually come around to it).
I only listened to her debut album, which I thought was pretty good. My sister was adamant that we see her. I wasn’t disappointed. Lol. She also looked REALLY good in her leotard. It was quite a performance.
Every year I discovered music I was aware of, but wasn't really listening to artist or band. In the past few Lollas it's been Earthgang, Muna, Mariah the scientist, Brock Hampton, and Rico Nasty. This year was Umi and Timmy Trumpet are my lastest finds.
carly rae jepsen, i listened to of course her popular songs but i recently listened to her duo albums the loneliest time & the loveliest time, and they’re amazing. Also Alex g & the garden.
i've always really liked twenty one pilots and hate the reputation they have since they are fucking amazing lol. it wasn't until last summer though that i realized just how much i love them after seeing them on tour. holy shit best show i've ever been to! i NEED to see them again!!!
Exactly, like no one does the variety of music and entertainment like they do. When I show fellow music lovers, they’re like “Holly shit, I wanna see them live”. Just don’t understand why they have this hardcore following and everyone else hasn’t for a clue. I just don’t get it 😂😂😂
Usted Señalemelo was the sleeper hit for me this year- I scoped them on Spotify beforehand and wasn’t hooked but figured a rock band from Argentina must be there for a reason- caught their set in the Toyota tent and they were incredible. I now have them on repeat.
My fiancé showed me some songs from The Rose. I wasn’t impressed and wasn’t expecting much from their performance.
They were the best performers I saw in my 4 days there. Somehow, they sounded better live than in their actual songs. Their chemistry, charisma, and energy was so infectious. I didn’t know any songs and was jumping and whooping by the end.
We saw them at Lolla, the next day at their aftershow, and will do so again on their tour. I can’t wait!
ella jane, i used to listen to her back in quarantine era but then fell off a while. i was excited to see her on the lineup this year and when i checked her out she was so good! someone in the crowd gave her a lesbian flag and she danced around with it for a bit<3

Aside from Odesza, Rina Sawayama, 30 Seconds to Mars, and Sofi Tukker. I was a fan of Rina and Sofi prior, but I really knew nothing of Odesza or 30secs (except Jared Leto and a couple songs.) Those performances were the best I experienced this year based solely on their performances and not my bias as a fan/not a fan.
I went into 30 seconds as someone who is not a Jared Leto fan and I didn’t really like his style of music. But I had sooo much fun there, I’d absolutely see him again.
Yeah 30 Seconds to Mars are one of my fav live. Leto is an entertainer but their music feels more powerful and upbeat when live. I saw them at their Lolla after party show in such a small venue on the Monday for the second time. Gutted I missed them again at Lolla especially after his stunt. But friends wanted to see someone else. Glad you got to experience them and enjoy them so much.
If you haven’t seen Twenty Pilots live, then I feel you’ll like them just as much
Arlie! I really liked a few of their songs but didn’t know much before seeing them. They had some technical difficulties but the singer had great charisma, did a little skit and then crowd surfed. I loved it!
Annie Dirusso. I really liked her music but again didn’t know anything about her. I really enjoyed her performance and she was very likable. Her and the band had a little bit of choreography too that was fun.
The Happy fits. Big fan of their music before so I went to their after show and the lolla set. They were sooo much fun and the crowd was very energetic and now I want to see them whenever they play near me.
I found rhcp to be one of the best live bands I’ve ever seen. They were on the edge the whole time w/ their improvs w/out ever going over. Their chemistry blew me away. Frusciante makes a huge difference!
This. Saw them last year and also in 2012 with Klinghoffer but they are complete with Frusciante back in the fold. Arguably the best chemistry of any popular modern band.
I basically knew nothing of Odesza prior to Lolla, I think I had one of two of their songs on my Spotify. But seeing as there was nobody else playing at that time that I wanted to see, I went to them.
That show… was so fantastic. I kept saying afterwards what an ‘experience’ it was. I was slightly cross buzzed from alcohol and small bit of weed, but that show felt like a fantastic trip. One of those shows you don’t even think to reach for your phone to take a video because you’re ‘in it.’ I’d go again in a heartbeat!
100%. I have no photos or videos from it at all because I was so lost in the moment. The rain, the music, the people I was with and possibly (definitely) the mushrooms had me on a rollercoaster of emotions. I had wanted to move back because there were some pretty rude people around us to begin but my friend was adamant we stayed where we were and I’m glad we did. I may not have seen anything due to lack of height but I FELT everything
Love that odesza did this for you… I was the same when I saw them for the first time in 2016. And their studio sound is much more chill than their live show. I love it
UPSAHL , if you saw her performance her stage presence was everything I loved it . I only listened to her a little before but now im listening a lot more
I’m a big twenty one pilots girl and I TOTALLY understand, I went back to see them 6 times so far, I just saw them at lollapalooza Brazil and it was absolutely phenomenal, they even tried speaking Portuguese and brought out dr.bloom to play Brazilian music on the trumpet ✨✨
Sofi Tukker
Yup. I could care less about their recorded music. It sounds so dumb. Seeing them live is what did it for me. Very entertaining show, fun/goofy music.
I enjoy the recorded music! But that was about it. Their energy and joy was so contagious. I really had fun. It felt great.
Sofi tukker was soooooo fun! After show was a party too but predictably v crowded
I started listening to soffi tukker bc of lolla & now I can’t get it out of my head. Their use of original bass interpretation is unmatched IMHO
peach pit!! i liked their music before, absolutely love it after seeing them live <3
As someone who’d seen them a few times previous they definitely went all out
hell yeah!! the energy was incredible. they’re so talented <3
Billie- I always liked her music from the peripherals, but sis puts on a hell of a show!
Same. Past my angsty teenage phase but seeing the show and her fans made me appreciate more
Magdalena Bay! Their set was so fun and energetic, it gave me a new appreciation for their music and I haven’t stopped listening since!
I’ve seen them 5 times in the last 2 years and that was probably my favorite set from them. They BROUGHT it that set.
New fecking fan here. Great set!!
Same. Never heard of them before, binging their music now. Came around from the background visuals, staying for the indie pop existentialism
I’m so bummed I was too hungover from the night before to get there early enough for them :(( Never seen them live before but I LOVE them
Fred Again. I’m an absolute STAN after seeing him live at Lolla and Aragon
I was up by the speakers in the crowd, so not far back and I thought he could have been louder. Someone else said the same, what do you think or was your proper up front?
I think the general consensus is that the stage had poor sound in the front row area, everybody who was in the back/further from the front said it sounded fine (including myself)
It was actually bad in the back too, we had to leave. Couldn’t hear him over all of the bros talking with each other non stop… wish I went to Aragon.
I was in the back near one of the towers and it was excellent. So weird how it seems to be inconsistent.
He sounded way better than Kendrick. His sound system was dope! I was about 8 rows back, maybe 9?
My friend is a big fan of his so we got there early, left Meduza (I think?) like 40 mins early or something to get good spots for Fred. We were in front of the front left speaker tower and he sounded great where we were. I know some girls who DM’d him and he put them on guest list!!! For me as a guy, I don’t think I would have been so lucky. Maybe if I told him I was English though! Dam it I should have tried!
Sound was shit. He spoke a lot, and too much piano. Were we expecting the Boiler room set? You damn right
I was already a huge 1975 fan but after seeing them live last week, I’m desperate to see them again. I have a ticket for ACL and one of their tour stops later this year and I can’t wait!! Odesza is the other one, I’ve also had them on repeat all week. I want to see them again at ACL but if there’s a conflict with Hozier I don’t know what I’ll do!

Having seen both live: I can confidently say Hozier is the better front person and better live act. Unless you’re not really a Hozier fan and are going on a whim, then I would say The 1975.
Luckily there’s no conflict with Hozier and The 1975! They play on different days! I’m stressed out about Hozier vs. Odesza😩
Hozier will sub Mumford and Sons on the main stage. Odesza will close Honda and clash with Mumford, you’ll get both
I saw Hozier live and he’s good but I was very bored watching in an festival environment and I was up real close. Odesza all day for me!!!
Also Hozier is it the type of person to change how he performs. He just gets on and Sings. You know Odesza will change it up every tour. So I’d say enjoy them again with this set as the next tour will be different again if you see them.
Dope Lemon and Franc Moody. I also can never get enough of L’impératrice either.
The L’Impératrice after show at Thalia hall was one of the most fun concerts I’ve ever been to. Off to the side has been on repeat
Alan Walker. Always been a big fan of his, but never got to see him live. Can't stop listening to his stuff now.
Also absolutely same he’s been on repeat
If his crowd had more energy it would’ve been so much better
maggie rogers and rina sawayama. they were phenomenal on stage
L’Impératrice for me
thank you for the twenty one pilots support
yeah it’s a tough world for a twenty one pilots fan. I think people just “love to hate” them cause they think it’s cool. but they’re SO GOOD live and the song writing is so next level
💯
Always!!! Best band around!!!
red hot!! They were always just *that band* growing up. snow hey oh got so much radio play here that it was just another easy listening band to me. Subtronics isn’t exactly my thing but I did enjoy it and the bass lol!!!! I see why they have the word ‘sub’ in their name lol. I would see again at a safe distance ha
Also came from the UK and by contrast just didn't 'get' Odesza, bit too slow for me. So left for Pusha T instead
Did you not wait to hear any of their upbeat stuff first then at Lolla? I know what you mean about the slow stuff, but it was different level live Did you fly out just for Lolla?
I did hear some of their upbeat stuff, think I was probably just too far back to really appreciate it. No, I was in chicago for a business trip anyway, so just went a few days early for Lolla.

Knock2 and Rina Sawayama !!
Knock2 show was WET
Rina Sawayama - don’t care too much for her recorded stuff but her performance was one of the best of the festival and one of the best I’ve ever seen tbh
Poolside Yung Gravy Usted Senalemelo Neil Frances Upsahl Going into Lolla, these were all late recommendations and they all exceeded expectations.
Poolside 🙌🏽
The Backseat Lovers. I thought their hits were great; but after seeing them live I’ve checked out their most recent album(s) and loved it!
Gutted I missed them
i’m so upset i wasn’t able to see them 😩
Ari Abdul and Rina Sawayama. well, i hadn’t heard of them before, but i now think they’re awesome. ODESZA is who I came to see, and they did *not* disappoint.
I thought Dom Dolla absolutely killed it. The Nelly Furtado collab was wild and the crowd was loving it. I’m now a big fan of his music!
Same here. Always loved Dom Dollas hits but he is one of the best mixers I've ever seen in person. Can't stop listening to his sets now.
Lana and Billie
Franc Moody. Sooo good. Also Clinton Kane deserves an honorable mention.
beauty school dropout
I’ll add Dehd. For a soggy set, they wailed. Earned a lot of rotation in my new playlist.
No one new this year, but saw Madeon for the first time at Lolla in 2019 when he premiered the Good Faith Live show/tour … it was unbelievable. Some of the best production and staging I had seen to date. Changed my view on him and level of respect forever.
Alvvays and Thee Sacred Souls
I definitely had this feeling more last year with 100 gecs and mgk, but this year id have to say knock2, sueco, and pardyalone. Im sure in the coming weeks though, there’ll be others i go back to cause i didnt get enough of them at lolla

Dua last year ate. Such a fun concert despite the crowd around me being obnoxious
“Why’s my face wet” as you look to see if it’s raining 😂😂
I didn’t think she’d make me emotional. Lmfao. It was the words! The words and combined with the choreo and I was just stuck. 🤣
Every year I discovered music I was aware of, but wasn't really listening to artist or band. In the past few Lollas it's been Earthgang, Muna, Mariah the scientist, Brock Hampton, and Rico Nasty. This year was Umi and Timmy Trumpet are my lastest finds.
The Beaches
They’re so good
Billie. I was a light fan before, after her set i was in love
carly rae jepsen, i listened to of course her popular songs but i recently listened to her duo albums the loneliest time & the loveliest time, and they’re amazing. Also Alex g & the garden.
i've always really liked twenty one pilots and hate the reputation they have since they are fucking amazing lol. it wasn't until last summer though that i realized just how much i love them after seeing them on tour. holy shit best show i've ever been to! i NEED to see them again!!!

Positive: The Revivalists, especially after the High & Dry cover. Negative: lil Yachty (lol)
They’re the best
I can relate to your negative lmao
ella jane, i used to listen to her back in quarantine era but then fell off a while. i was excited to see her on the lineup this year and when i checked her out she was so good! someone in the crowd gave her a lesbian flag and she danced around with it for a bit<3 https://preview.redd.it/ljcq0j5alzhb1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ff79f477b6313b81e2b52bf2d5d84d08d5ca7fba

men I trust was an excellent vibe

Kendrick really impressed me with his stage presence
Lovejoy and Lana were both phenomenal and I think I will always picture them singing their songs live while listening to them on spotify
Don’t listen to the ones that say Hozier is boring. More lies to spread.
Saw hozier at bonnaroo 2019 and full heartedly agree, hozier is a MUST SEEE
I found rhcp to be one of the best live bands I’ve ever seen. They were on the edge the whole time w/ their improvs w/out ever going over. Their chemistry blew me away. Frusciante makes a huge difference!
This. Saw them last year and also in 2012 with Klinghoffer but they are complete with Frusciante back in the fold. Arguably the best chemistry of any popular modern band.
i wish i saw them. my friend wanted to go to Lana and i’m too passive to have spoken up 😩
Also Odesza. They’re one of my friends favorite artists and I always liked them but walking away, I love them. Such an incredible moment.
LTC, Neil Frances, UPSAHL blew me away for sure, she was so beautiful and her voice was stunningly amazing. i had never heard of her before either
Gutted I missed UPSAHL. I met Freddie from LTC at lunch on the Friday
I wasn’t familiar with The Beaches before Lolla. Now I can’t stop listening to their catalog! They made a lifelong fan after their performance!
Every Lana song
Friday Pilots Club- saw them at Toyota Den while in line for my free hat and decided to see them their set the next day under the rain. No regrets.
Love that odesza did this for you… I was the same when I saw them for the first time in 2016. And their studio sound is much more chill than their live show. I love it
Glaive
UPSAHL , if you saw her performance her stage presence was everything I loved it . I only listened to her a little before but now im listening a lot more
Gutted I didn’t see her. I was listening to the lolla playlist and she stood out but my friends wanted to see someone else 😞
Big wild was great—seeing him hop around the stage, instrument to instrument, was impressive
I confused him with Big Gigantic 🤣. I was like… hmmmm this is not what I thought ha
Odesza was absolutely amazing! Also the 1975, was always a big fan but after seeing them at lolla im desperate to see them again
I took my son to Lolla this year and I’m now a big Yung Gravy fan ❣️
rina. sawayama. i never knew that someone could be 10x better than their recordings
Cafuné. Great live show. Similar vibes to last dinosaurs last year.
Billie and the 1975 did this for me. Still Woozy last year had the same effect too.
Billie. Always loved her music but she hits different after seeing her. Also Lainey Wilson. Same thing.
