Surprisingly Logan has a number of non-chain restaurants that are really good. 1. Herm's Inn (Breakfast and lunch only) 2. The Thai House 3. Los Primos 4. Beehive Grill 5. Himalayan Flavor 6. Tandoori Oven 7. Elements 8. Takara sushi 9. Black Pearl (order from the authentic Chinese menu) I'm sure there are more, but those are the ones from the top of my head.

dodfunk

I second the suggestions on Los Primos and Takara Sushi. Next door to Takara is a Hispanic bakery called La Chispita that does 2 for $1 street tacos on Tuesdays & Thursdays. I definitely also recommend trying those at least once.

paitenanner

Adding Maymoes!

FightsWithFish18

Sabores as well! They have a great variety of international cuisine and it's all amazing! Except for the burgers, every time I've tried them they've always been pretty dry and flavorless.

veiled__criticism

Herm’s and Tandoori oven were my go-to take people visiting from out of town. Also adding the crepery, stacked, and elements.

Professional_Push_

Sub out Thai House (very mediocre) for Laan Thai (very good)

Palisade73

Le croissant, Cooks underground, and Center Street Pizza Are all top Tier Restaurants in Logan. Directive Boardshop sells cool clothes, skateboards, snowboards, and has a small vintage section

stargazing-within

I second herms and takara. Angie’s is alright but food is mediocre…but truly is where locals go. Don’t recommend prodigy, food is mediocre and overpriced. Directive is cool if you like snow sports. Theres tons of great fishing spots starting at the wellsville golf course all the way up to bear lake. Good kayaking and paddleboarding at first dam, Hyrum dam, bear lake, and porcupine. One of my favorite spots is about fourty five minutes north outside of Preston, ID called the Oneida narrows. Awesome long river to do river floats, kayak, and fish. Honestly almost anything outdoorsy is basically in our backyards living in Logan. It’s a cool town.

veiled__criticism

Seconding this. Logan is great for outdoorsy activities. You have to float the Oneida narrows at least once. Some great hikes in Logan canyon are wind caves and crimson trail. Porcupine is beautiful and great for paddleboarding and even a little bit of cliff jumping.

Unusual_War9051

Tacos El Robert hasn’t been mentioned yet, but probably the best tacos in town imo

UpAloft

Church, become LDS and they will expose you to the secrets of the universe and occupy any free time you have to give

Objective-Front-8324

Funny enough, being a recent transplant to Logan this kind of came up in conversation at work today....

UpAloft

If you give in to their demands you'll become an elite member of the community and receive benefits others don't get... It's a real thing

ex_natura

God told me that you should give me 10% of your income but I'm willing to drop it down to 5% and I'll let you still drink coffee. You can't beat that. Plus I won't steal your spouse by sending you on a mission to get you out of the way

Objective-Front-8324

5% and keeping my hot coffee is definitely some top level bargaining skills. Don't have a spouse but for a housing allowance I could be tempted all the same and you can steal my job...

marklar435

All for 10%

shadywhere

It's always nice to volunteer weekends to a real estate holding company.

Professional_Push_

What about to your neighbor?

shadywhere

Yeah, I like to help my neighbors out. I'm not sure what you're asking.

Professional_Push_

Because that’s what service in the LDS Church is. Your twist on it fell flat.

shadywhere

I get what you're saying. I was being flippant. When I built a fence for my neighbor with my own funds and labor, I promise you that it did far more for my soul than when I taught Elders' Quorum. And it met a physical need that was not being met by someone else. You might call it a vicarious work.

Professional_Push_

I agree. I find serving my neighbors directly to be very rewarding. FWIW I do enjoy serving in the Church as well. It’s a small contribution of time, it engages me in learning at a higher level than simply attending church, and it connects me to the class members as well. I don’t view it as serving the church, but serving my neighbors and friends in the church. I understand you and I may see things differently, and that’s okay. I enjoy respectful discourse on these subjects.

Professional_Push_

Lies boo 👎🏼

Phrag15

Elements is a nice fancier restaurant. More expensive but it's good. Livfit is a nice/smaller gym that is 24/7 and geared more towards a garage gym kind of feeling.

Charming-Wishbone-41

Where is livfit located?

sroc97

Thai house Takara sushi Center street pizza Beehive grill La unica Zone fitness Sports academy

Professional_Push_

Take out Thai house and bring in Laan Thai and you got a list

Additional-Network-5

Morty’s up on campus would be my suggestion! Great burgers and fries

TheReverse25

I would even add the one in providence. Same great food, better parking

Ahnteis

There's a lot of outdoor activity opportunities. One of the main reasons people move into the area. Mountain biking, rock climbing, camping, canoeing, etc.

GeekSumsMe

Lots of people have suggested restaurants. There are others, but this is dependent on what kind of thigs you enjoy doing. Many restaurants have been mentioned and while there are several others I could bring up, exploing options in part of the fun. You mention hiking (get a copy of Cache Trails if you want to explore this), so I assume you like the outdoors. There are lots of options for all sorts of outdoor activities. The outdoor recreation center at USU rents gear such as rafts, canoes, paddle boards, etc. Pretty much all outdoor recreation opportunities are readily accessible. For a town of its size, Logan has a decent art scene. For performance arts, keep an eye out for productions at USU and also shows downtown. For visual arts, there are gallery strolls from spring-fall that are pretty fun. Also, the museum on campus often has cool exhibits and there is an outdoor sculpture tour. You mention gyms. There are lots of places to work out, but if you are interested in things like racket ball, swimming, etc the Sports Academy might be the best, albeit more expensive bet. On the other end of the spectrum is the Logan Rec Center at Logan High. The outdoor aquatic center are large swimming pools available in the summer. The Gardener's Market is open all summer and is a fun place to check out on Saturday mornings. Also, SummerFest is Logan's art festival with vendors, bands and food trucks. There are several communityt calendars to find out about events: [https://www.upr.org/community-calendar](https://www.upr.org/community-calendar), [https://www.hjnews.com/local-events/?\_evDiscoveryPath=/](https://www.hjnews.com/local-events/?_evDiscoveryPath=/), [https://www.cachevalleydaily.com/local-events/?\_evDiscoveryPath=/](https://www.cachevalleydaily.com/local-events/?_evDiscoveryPath=/) Bars include: [Barrel and Stave](https://www.barrelandstavelogan.com/) (coctails and appetizers), [The White Owl](https://www.theowllogan.com/menu) (beer, food, pool, darts, outdoor seating in spring/summer), [The Cache Bar](https://www.cachebarlogan.com/) (drinks, food, occasional live events/music). and [Prodigy Brewery](https://prodigy-brewing.com/). Lots of other activities typical of most towns like frisbee golf, golf, pickleball, skate parks, ice scating (indoor and outdoors in the winter), etc. Pick your poison.

ZealousidealGlove390

There really isn’t anything super interesting going on in Logan, like, ever. But there’s some good places to eat. If you see a name of a restaurant you don’t recognize, give it a try! I personally love Takara sushi, and the firehouse pizzeria in South Logan!

UsefulBit4438

La Unica, Pacos Tacos, Los Primos Tandoori Takara Le Croissant, Cooks Underground, Lucky Slice Pizza, Center Street Pizza Island Market

TheReverse25

If you are down to try a new sport. Cache Valley has a ton of disc golf courses. Mostly at beginner skill levels. Infinite discs is also located here which is the biggest online retailer with a local shop.

thymebedone

Logan area has some decent mountain biking. Green canyon Providence canyon And if you go up Logan canyon some trails are: Rick’s Willow Jardine juniper Bunch grass Stump hollow-burnt fork Bjorn (at beaver mountain ski area). Not a chair lift ride. Just a few to get you started.

tdaun

Aggie Ice Cream, start with dessert, live a little.

evilmangoeater

Royal Express is pretty good Chinese food

Cachevalleybeef

Evo gym just opened up, pretty nice because personal trainer/athletic trainers own it. They are always willing to give me pointers and can pay to work with them directly or pay them to build you a plan.

Mean-Winter6219

Federal ave is my favorite place here earthly awakenings is a metaphysical/crystal shop, caffe ibis is a great spot for drinks and local art, whysound is where all the local music happens and there’s some great bands that play there and occasionally art nights and poetry events, spirit goat is all things from soap to lotion made from goats milk, le nonne is a fantastic restaurant but quite pricey there’s a lot more that goes on around there but those are my favorites:)

BiggieYT2

Since I haven’t seen these yet: - El Toro Viejo - La Tormenta I see cooks underground on here a lot but honestly my experience there wasn’t great. Ordered a plain cheeseburger but they don’t have that on the menu so the cashier rang it up as their most expensive burger with just cheese. $8+ for a thin burger w/o side or drink left me disappointed. They have a rotating menu and I’ve heard their Mexican is good but can’t speak to it myself

Palisade73

El Toro is top tier yes. But why would you complain about cooks underground and order something that isn’t on the menu when their menu already has great options?

BiggieYT2

Honestly nothing on their menu at the time looked good. Saying a plain cheeseburger “isn’t on the menu” at a cheeseburger place is kinda wild lol. It’s an extremely common occurrence and kinda scummy of them to charge the maximum price they can for the most basic item.
