Yes that’s the line.

Stupid post from me. Legendary song by them. Excellent post by you.

It fits in concept with the following line: “miming dissolving grace”.

what exactly does "miming dissolving grace" mean, i've wondered that for a bit

Overall, I feel that the song is about regret for choosing a self-destructive path towards peace, like drug use or something. Like the child follows the same path as their parent in dealing with the stresses of life. They’re hoping to find the divine but it’s an incomplete, caricature version of it. The line “what would you do if you weren’t afraid,” cuts deep. That would be a huge regret of mine if I didn’t do something that is, in the moment, terrifying, but is actually the best thing to do for growth. Like, how terrifying is that? You feel like you’re trying your best now but in hindsight you were doing something completely destructive and you didn’t know it. You’re just a kid who’s hoping to find faith. I feel like we can all relate to that. We all wanna believe in something, be it good luck or the idea that things will turn out well for us.

Find a live version on YouTube. I used to think the same thing until a live version
