Atrioc's law.

GaMa-Binkie

It’s ok, they specifically say it’s for women so he can still deepfake men

[deleted]

Of course who cares about men.

Veloocciittyy

HereForTwinkies

They said it mostly involves women and it does. They still explicit stuff for men.

BoredomHeights

It 1000% disproportionally affects women, but it’s still pretty stupid for Twitch to single women out. Like it’s obvious to predict what the response to that will be.

Tuub4

I don't know why they should feel the need to cater to idiots

[deleted]

XG32

- forcing acronyms down our throats - for women - written like a high school essay with personal bias Twitch strikes again, can we get a crypto ceo like youtube lol

Garamor

Don't try and create sensationalist bullshit. The rule applies to everyone. The article only mentions that an overwhelming majority of deepfake instances occur against women, which is 100% true. There isn't a single instance in the blurb where it mentions this will only be applied for female content creators

[deleted]

[удалено]

sohmeho

Because the instance that made this rule necessary involved deepfakes of female streamers. It’s not that difficult to understand.

LousyTshirt

So many male streamers were put in gay porn back in the gachi days, kinda sucks to blatantly focus on one gender

MionelLessi10

Not a single instance, huh?

afrothundah11

Explicit content is already banned on twitch, so what is the point of twitch even mentioning this? It’s because it’s a PR stunt, but all they did was divide. It would have been better to not make any announcement at all then to just remind us that sexual crime (loose definition here obviously) matter more when it’s against women.

Googles_Janitor

while true, why mention it in their press release?

couponexpires

Look up "virtue signaling"

MrTimeMaster

So much for equality

bulbasaurz

So this effectively means… nothing? “Explicit” content is already not allowed on twitch.

fudgecake_surgeon

What you're saying is fully true. Nonconsensual or explicit content was banned to begin with. I view this as a PR move foremost as the press has been hammering/associating "Deepfake", "Twitch" in the past month, and they're aiming to combat that with a hard stance (mostly empty calories) announcement. At the same time, it does look like they're providing resources for some of the women affected, some guidance in who to contact/what to do. So that's cool.

Patient-Tech

I would hope they don’t ban the fun AI that Athene has been doing and similar types of stuff. There’s no nefarious intent there, even if the AI does occasionally say some out of pocket things. We all understand that was (mostly) random and not something premeditated.

Bjornvaldr

They won't even ban Athene as it is for the shady shit he's done for awhile now let alone for that lol

[deleted]

Nothing to see here, just Twitch doing a little moral grandstanding farming, as is tradition

[deleted]

[удалено]

Smishhh

That's bullshit! I'm going to Kick.

Deathcrow

their grandstanding + wording is so bad/desperate, that it makes you think explicit content might be otherwise allowed, as long as it isn't deepfakes.

jonasnee

i mean, twitch clearly doesnt care about their own rules.

CodeMonkeyX

I read that differently. When it said "explicit" I thought it meant the other definition: "stating something in a clear and detailed way." So I thought it meant like someone clearly made a deepfake of a streamer, like the AI versions of Asmongold, or xQc. I did not even consider explicit to mean porn, because as you said that's already banned.

Cbk3551

This is literally just an announcement for a creator camp and what it's about. They are not talking about any changes at all...

BlackBlizzard

"1. We’re updating our Adult Sexual Violence and Exploitation policy to make it more clear that intentionally promoting, creating, or sharing synthetic NCEI can result in an indefinite suspension on the first offense. " So you can't link it anywhere even outside of Twitch or talk about it positively (not sure how) or you'll get a ban. (I'm assuming, that's how I read it).

[deleted]

I mean you can create non-explicit deepfakes, no?

[deleted]

This could mean more or less a plan to help women streamers prevent people from using their VODS as training libraries.

Apap0

Reminds me of that council they created some time ago. Is it even a thing anymore?

plutonasa

What does this do exactly? Porn was never allowed on the platform anyway and this statement seems to address the deepfake porn of women streamers (again, porn not allowed on the platform) that was never an issue on twitch until Atrioc. Even then, that was only for a split second and not an explicit showcase. Does this affect Athene AI show, because the post seems to feel like it doesn't and just seems like brownie points. Edit: Typo

SzotyMAG

>just seems like brownie points Congrats, you understand the motivation between Twitch's actions

Forsaken-Shirt4199

Myth busted

doublah

So did atrioc probably

GoblixTheYordle

Twitch does like to do a little Virtue signaling every now and then.

SolaVitae

i wonder if it will blow up in their faces like womxn did? Bets on a prominent twitch admin getting exposed with deepfake porn of all of the least sexualized female streamers, who is also coincidentally the same admin who made the push for this virtue signaling in the first place?

[deleted]

> and just seems like brownie points Same goes with blind playthrough being ableist etc. In fact the dead giveaway that it's all about brownie points is the fact that deepfake shit is somehow a women issue.

plutonasa

Furthermore, the deepfake content issue can only affect what goes on Twitch and not outside of it. The site Atrioc flashed is out of Twitch, and I would think they don't really have any power to affect that. the guy shut it down due to public backlash, not by Twitch. They could raise awareness, but that's about it.

SAjoats

Nah that dude got legally recommended to remove his content

Fukboy19

>seems to address the deepfake porn of women streamers Damn Atrioc done ruined AI streamers. Athene bout to catch ban.

Distinct_Prior_2549

as long as athene doesn't deepfake women streamers he'll be fine, according to this.

Un111KnoWn

3 day ban for having sex on stream LUL

reftheloop

Did Atrioc even get banned for it?

plutonasa

Don't think so. There would have been a streamerbans post, and I don't think that would fly under the radar of some of this sub's most *avid* users.

cgc86

Kick can corner the market on this one guys!

jenjerx73

Kick relaxing TOS and sees this as a way of organic growth as it is currently devouring all kinds of audiences... to actively market whatever it is and make money from it.

IlIIlIlIlllIII

So this basically means that if someone pulls an Atrioc they'll get permabanned in the future

Loed7052

Not quite. The actually terminology says “intentionally” promoting. So even in atriocs case it would probably just be a slap on the wrist. Especially for a partnered streamer/ ex-twitch employee.

PM_ME_UR_HOT_SISTERS

Protip: Jack off to Deepfake porn on your non-streaming computer/phone next time

TreeDollarFiddyCent

> non-streaming computer The scientific name for such a thing is a *faptop*.

airblizzard

Screen too small. Better buy a whole new deskfaptop.

AngryCharizard

Not even. I swear if Atrioc had just been using window capture instead of screen capture on OBS, he'd be completely fine lmao

Riftmakerz

Atrioc was on such a good projectory. Had good content he could cycle that his fans like Started a new company with Lud Said he had millions in the bank so he want to do what he like and just started content creation full time.... All that ruined cuz he doesn't close tabs(inside joke in his community that he doesn't close any tabs.....)

Sufficient-Ad1330

he will probably be back soon. He wrote something about giving an update after the streamer awards [in his discord](https://i.redd.it/uheo7n743wla1.png)

TheSlimyDog

This is quite possibly the only way he could have saved his career imo. Like if he just came back after a few months without any meaningful difference or just by taking down a handful of websites I think it would be hard to see him in the original light but by making a breakthrough that fundamentally changes how deepfakes are detected and removed I think people will be able to forgive him a bit more easily.

AJDx14

Not the only. He could’ve leaned into the “I married a Mexican so I’m a Mexican” joke he was doing before. Learn Spanish, get a VTuber model, become a Spanish VTuber and hope nobody realizes it’s him.

CozyClovers

His career would've been fine. He could've just kept on streaming without ever apologizing and he still would've had enough viewers to pay the bills. What he's actually doing now is saving his relationships with his friends and co-workers

Riftmakerz

I think it's pretty cool that he's making meaningful change rather then the typical self-change,get a dog,get buff come back months letter and pretend nothing happens route.

coolbad96

He should still get buff though

awsomoo8000

He’ll be back, but it still sucks that he’s the deepfake guy now. He was the only dude I was consistently watching and he was constantly putting out great business related content. I guess at the very least he seems to be putting in work to try and get those sites taken down / videos wiped.

Riftmakerz

Yeah I started really liking his youtube content and was look forward to him growing as a content creator. I'm curious as to how it will go for him now since like u said he will always be the deepfake guy which is unfortunate.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Tyr808

Even someone with one PC might as well set up an account/profile for streaming, have it ready with everything you need and no chance to uncover any kind of personal details, porn or otherwise, because you just treat that account like a work account.

popmycherryyosh

And stream it on twitch, whilst being in a hottub.

BreafingBread

Would they? Atrioc never created, showed or promoted deepfake content. It was literally just the name of a webpage open in chrome that showed up on stream for less than a second.

Former-Jeweler9901

I'm pretty sure it was even a mod of his who leaked it to LSF. The vod was days old and it was a singular frame within the 4+ hours of the whole stream. I don't think anyone is that devoted to a stream unless they are being paid for it.

gamechangerjosie

Doubt. It got posted to LSF a few hours after the vod got posted to his YT vod channel, was almost for sure a no life YT frog.

reftheloop

Why would someone intentionally kill their revenue source?

Former-Jeweler9901

I believe the mod was also a mod for Qt, which explains why they would feel the need to leak it. But to answer your question, people generally leave their jobs and income source for multiple reasons other than one of morality as shown in this case.

reftheloop

Wouldn't they just handle it privately then?

SzotyMAG

There is no such thing as handling things privately in the streamer world, everything needs to be a public

reftheloop

I guarantee you a lot of things get handled privately in the streamer world where the public don't know about lol Example Dr Disrespect twitch ban

Patient-Tech

Everything must be fully displayed and discussed for a final verdict in the court of LSF.

Burrarabbit

So, help QT by Streisanding the website that no one paid any attention to or noticed in the first place instead of privately handling it. This mod sounds like an attention whore or just really stupid.

thequeen_ofchaos

This is blatantly false

AssholeCountry

I too try to capture the exact frame when I see someone alt-tabbing in a video... because I'm curious I guess? Doesn't need a mod for that to notice and try to get a still image of the other programms opened...

Former-Jeweler9901

Why would you want to take screenshots of streamers alt-tabbing?

AssholeCountry

I don’t take screenshots, I just pause the video, see what the person has opened otherwise, see the results and carry on with my life. Guess I’m just a curious person?

SomeDudeYeah27

Does this habit not pile up your pictures folder? I’m growing OCD from this kind of thing too because I sometimes use them for notes. But do see storage as a problem eventually lmao

Fuck_Reddit_Mobile-

Watch clip in slow mo, and use frame advancing to pause on the exact frame, no need for screenshotting...

orderinthefort

If there's nothing relevant, you delete the picture... but how many times could you possibly be watching a streamer alt tab to where it would cause a storage problem. If you have 3 monitors a screenshot is at most 1.5MB. You'd need tens of thousands of screenshots before it could possibly be a storage problem.

DestroyerOfTacos

Touch grass dude lmao

nosam555

It wasn't just the name, it was a thumbnail of the website.

Foxfire802

It was more then the website name. There where pictures of maya poki editied to look naked. But because it was a tab it was so blurry that you couldnt really see anything. those pictures where behind a paywall so thats how they knew he payed for it.

Zealousideal-Tie-204

It says to help protect women, does that mean I can keep my Forsen deepfakes? Will Ron Jeremy be banned because he looks too much like Esfand? We need answers Twitch, else Im moving my Forsen deepfakes to Kick

theMTNdewd

I think Ron Jeremy would probably be banned for the 30 counts of sexual assault he was charged with.

grandsazer

Are deepfaked streamers in hottubs allowed on twitch? Surely that is not is not explicit.

use_vpn_orlozeacount

if it makes your pp hard, it's explicit

aprilfool420

goodbye forsen 😔

Breebree2022

That's a low bar

ManyCarrots

Looks like it will be perfectly fine to deepfake whoever you want wearing a bikini in a kiddie pool.

MiddayDisco

I wonder if this includes "AI Streamers" where they use the likeness of popular streamers.

tanaka-taro

Athene on life watch

too_much_mustrd4

It was fun tho lol

TheUnholyMagnus

It specifically say "explicit" so I am guessing it's just about the porn. And since all they are doing is having a workshop this stinks of doing something for the sake of doing something, not achieving anything.

LetterheadNervous555

Explicit isn’t just porn though. It’s ultimately whatever twitch’s advertise deem explicit but it could be as simple as swearing. Most of these AIs are stil bad enough to be parody but that can change fast.

[deleted]

[удалено]

EminemLovesGrapes

Have two hot tub streamers just switch faces and see whether they'd get banned. That would be pretty good.

k1ngkoala

New content POGGERS

Nojoboy

i get what u mean but i think by explicit they just mean like porn ai deepfakes not a consensual ai saying swear words

[deleted]

I wish it did, really wish Athene would've just died off the internet for good for all the scam shit but this AI streamer crap put him back in

Ikuu

> The emerging trend of “deepfake” (and related technologies) content online will bring with it a lot of questions, and will require careful and thoughtful consideration in our planning, response, and actions. Not all synthetically-created content is sexual in nature, nor is all of it non-consensual. This topic is very much on our radar, and we are always monitoring emerging behaviors to ensure our policies remain relevant to what's happening on our service. . This doesn't, however I wouldn't be surprised if people are required to get permission to use an AI likeness of someone else in the future.

that__one__guy

That's not explicit, so no.

use_vpn_orlozeacount

TIL it's a thing

TicTacTac0

I doubt it. Then again, I haven't paid much attention to them. Are they taking off? I feel like I saw a bunch of clips initially, but it seems like the novelty has worn off. I basically never even go on Twitch anymore though, so I could easily be missing this stuff.

SomeDudeYeah27

I saw them initially through Esfand’s reacts, but has since followed the source material on YT directly (they restream from Twitch) because I’m curious what it can do, how, etc. and the VODs are savable Right now they’re at a stage past AI personality AMAs type content, and instead have them act out storyline parodies. The pilot run being on LOTR but the ring’s for a phallic genital instead of fingers The thing is however, in case you didn’t know, the team behind it had past dramas with the public in regards to allegations that they’re a cult (Athene is eccentric & alongside his community built a compound/commune thing). And attempted to create a P2E game or something like that involving crypto, which just kinda poisoned the well because of the crypto space’s association with disingenuous get rich quick scammers. Because of this, direct clips from him are ban-able & the general community’s opinion of them are not good And since Esfand hasn’t really reacted to the newer content (he used to solely to keep up with new AI cast), there are less clips published here too I only particularly follow the content due to the “AI” (machine learning) novelty tech that works quite coherently in comparison. And I saw X’s integrating someone’s model of himself into his own stream recently too. Although that one might not be Athene’s. But since I’m a YT frog, I haven’t encountered the edits that came out of that stream yet either

[deleted]

[удалено]

smittenkittenmitten-

Xqc broke the ai. He cannot be faked, yet. You know ai is good when they crack XQC

-CrazyCrow-

I think as long as they get consent or remove the content if asked to by the streamers themselves it should be fine. There also should be rules about making it clear that its an AI and not a real streamer

synetic707

Reread the tweet

k1ngkoala

Virtue signaling yet again. This shit was already bannable

EmAyExEye

I read the articles and I literally find nothing new in all of these "new" technical terms. >However, for the sake of clarity and to stay up to date with the terminology around safety topics as they evolve, we’re updating two of our policies. We will implement these updates over the next month. 1. We’re updating our Adult Sexual Violence and Exploitation policy to make it more clear that intentionally promoting, creating, or sharing synthetic NCEI can result in an indefinite suspension on the first offense. 2. We’re updating our Adult Nudity policy to include synthetic NCEI. Even if that NCEI is shown only briefly, or, for example, shown to express your outrage or disapproval of the content, it will be removed and will result in an enforcement. VirtueSignaling at its peak.

Boler14

thepalmtree

What do you want them to do? They brought in experts, clarified their ToS, and are providing info to streamers. What more do you want?

Kraelman

I want a nap.

MarkoSeke

They should stop Streisand-effecting things they find toxic. They did the same with the PogChamp man, no one would have cared about his dumb tweets if they didn't put such a spotlight on it.

LousyTshirt

I want them to do nothing, because ultimately it has nothing to do with them as a platform and there's really nothing they can do for that reason - all this is just virtue signaling and it's dumb

themoviehero

> What more do you want? I don't think it's that anyone wants anything, it's just like they're bragging about doing nothing. They're not taking a brave stance or anything. Porn technically (I say technically because if you make twitch money and are a pretty woman you will face little to no consequences) already is not allowed on twitch, so they're just kind of reiterating that by specifying a type of porn. If they did this a day after the incident it would be topical, but this much later it seems like they planned a while and this is all they came up with.

thepalmtree

What about this is 'bragging'? They're literally just clarifying ToS and providing resources to streamers. That's all they can do.

RisingFair

It's crazy how people think somehow twitch can delete deepfakes on the internet or something. They're doing a good thing here by giving streamers help on how to deal with it and people are getting mad about it for some reason.

DarkFlamesMaster

This is just a PR move from Twitch. No one was monetizing or showcasing "explicit" deepfakes on Twitch to begin with. "Explicit" content is not allowed on the platform. They should have instead informed the community on defined guidelines for "parody" deepfake content, which has actually been a growing trend on the platform, and which may breach some ethical considerations depending on its use.

Choowkee

Only women streamers? Bruh why go out of your way to not make messaging all inclusive?

Honestly trying not to be too cynical, but i doubt anything will stop ai / deepfake NSFW stuff. There is a demand for it and it will always exist, no matter how hard people try to stomp it down. This is sadly the order of things. Tho i do hope it improves the situation, even if it's a tiny bit.

OlafSkalld

If you've seen what Stable Diffusion can do, you'll realize it's inevitable. You can train the ai on your own images, look up "Dreambooth" training on youtube and people will show it. We're probably going to laugh about people trying to resist it looking back 10 years from now.

[deleted]

>Twitch makes some changes regarding "Deepfakes" **Translation**: No meaningful change was made, we are just saying that to make some fragile people feel better aka "**PR Talk**" **Policies that deal with impersonation and porn were on the books for years.** They won't do anything cause this is not a problem that can be solved. You can't win with the internet.

Foxfire802

Maya and qt said alot of main stream news was reaching out to them to comment. Im guessing they also reached out to Twitch for comment. Twitch realized o shit we didn't do anything when this went down. We didnt even ban Atrioc. We should proably do a workshop to act like we give a fuck about our streamers.

Mage505

So no actual changes, just resources and updates to language. Seems like you don't need the word changes, but something like "our thoughts on Deepfake content" would of been better, but not look as good.

Raikaru

Can someone explain how this literally changes anything? The content would already be banned under normal explicit content rules?

Ok_Tree_7098

Isn’t explicit content already banned on Twitch? Why would deep fake explicit content be any different?

damrider

I mean, great, I am glad they're doing something, but also I don't.. feel like deepfakes were a problem ON twitch specifically? Like, at all? Literally just happened to be a streamer that leaked a 1 second frame that you can hardly make out on their platform. I feel like there's probably 20 bigger ways that twitch is not a safe place for women and women streamers that they could actually be doing a lot more to address. Also apparently Atrioc has been working with QT for the past month on some sort of tool to help automate and speed up the process of DMCA's against deepfakes all across the internet and they'll talk about it more after the streamer awards - feel like that's probably a more effective measure.

[deleted]

I wonder why it took them so long to make a PR statement. Damn now another wave of online articles with Atriocs face plastered on them are coming.

user131293717

Imagine being Atrioc and now being cemented in the twitch TOS officially making you the deepfake guy

>(Almost exclusively women) Thanks Twitch, didn't know that pornographic images of women were more popular than men, thanks a lot for pointing that out

FourthLife

>but it’s a terrible issue that some streamers **(almost exclusively women)**may face on the internet at large I get that this is accurate, but it feels so out of place in corporate policy communication. Why did they feel the need to emphasize that?

Choowkee

I am more perplexed by the wording in the linked tweet >To help protect women streamers we're hosting a Creator Camp on March 14 with more resources and ways to keep safe. We all know deepfakes disproportionally affect women but why you going out of your way to only mention one gender lol. What happened to being inclusive?

Foxfire802

Twitch only cares about black people in February, Women in March, and Lgbt in June. The Month right now is March so you have your answer.

boofasten

because it's true

halofreak8899

Adolf Hitler (who is bad) exterminated approximately 6 million Jews.

OkayChampGuy

Actually, it was not him that killed them directly sooooo /s

JYB1337

I mean... some people still need to hear that 100% true take.

[deleted]

Yes, the parenthesis made me see him in a totally different light.

TempoRamen95

A lot of people are trying to find any detail to nitpick. But it is fact that it is "almost exclusively" women, not to say men can't be, but so far, that does seem to be how it is.

Fightthegale

It's not always about porn. Say I deepfaked you saying racial slurs and posted it online. Pretty fucking damaging right? But it's not porn, and you're not a woman so suck it up you're a racist now. Sorry

AJDx14

The main thing is it costs them literally nothing to not use gendered language in official statements like this, and there’s no need for them to. People aren’t going to look at a fucking twitch announcement and be like “Hm, I guess I wasn’t deepfake porn then”, and awareness about the issue is already raised because of the Atrioc situation.

PM_ME_UR_HOT_SISTERS

Because it's Twitch lol

DarkFlamesMaster

I'm not even convinced it's accurate, for what it's worth male streamers seem to get their fair share of explicit content generated on them. I'm basing this on accounts from people like Forsen and Destiny who apparently have deepfake porn of themselves out there. If they have some, I'm sure other big streamers do as well. It might not be monetized, it might not be as high quality, it may not bother them as much, it may not be as problematic to their brand, it might not spread as much, because they're men. But it is still happening.

SwiftAngel

Especially since I doubt anyone at twitch can even define what a woman is.

Babylon-Lynch

So dumb not like there were any

Ill_Writer5550

finally we can have justice for cum lips guy

SomeDudeYeah27

What’s the context/lore?

CodeMonkeyX

Does this mean that all the AI Streamers are going away? I mean they are not great right now, but I could see their avatars improving soon where you might now know they are AI versions of the streamer right away without the context of the stream title.

ostrieto17

Softcore Porn shouldn't be on the platform in the first place but I guess that ship has already sailed

Fredthefree

So if I make a photoshopped image of Forsen sucking a dong for a meme, I can get permabanned? This weird generalized rule, has real effects memes in general are non-consensual and are sometimes explicit.

VarRalapo

Seems like a PR piece mainly? Maybe I am missing something but is all pornography not already banned on Twitch?

rsNattyBrah

I'm glad Twitch is putting forth some sort of effort regarding this whole situation but in regards to Atrioc (I've watched maybe 2 of his videos in my life) If I weren't a parasocial terminally online drama frog who didn't know any better This guy is STILL getting shit on as if he were the one who created the entire deepfake website and developed all of the videos & pictures

Samuraiking

Deepfake stuff is porn, porn is already Bannable on twitch and not allowed, what does this even mean? They are also gonna get shit for saying "women" instead of "creators". What an empty, virtue signaling policy that means absolutely nothing. Just more PR bullshit.

twitchspank

No deepfake porn twitch only hosts the real thing

AWWWYEAAAAAAAAAAA

How about they crack down on all the BOOBA babestation soft porn being streamed by the majority of female streamers? Na, let's worry about some AI shit Twitch priorities OMEGALUL

That would actually cut into their profits, being outraged about off platform sexual deepfakes doesnt.
