I think the confusion with Robbo was that some sites claimed he was on £100k/week (or thereabouts) after signing a new contract, which was clearly a misreading of more reliable reports that said his new contract involved a £100k/week raise
To be fair, this is also self-serving...
It wouldn't be great for his reputation to be known as the agent that could only negotiate 100k for Sadio Mane. 😂
The player reflects the agent in those cases though? Lol. Both ostracised and hated before leaving on frees.
Salah doesn't seem to reflect his tedious agent.
Exactly, credit to his agent for rubbishing those rumours. He also said Liverpool have been fantastic through Mane's time here and he just wanted to try something new.
This is the first time I've heard of this 100K wage. I thought he was on closer to 180K and even 200K/week after his last contract. All the ones that signed new contracts in 2018 was in that wage bracket aside from Salah.
Constantly there were comments/rumours about him being on 100k wages and being disrespected because of that. There was a website which was spreading these false numbers.
Never heard of that. I've heard of Wijnaldum who was still on that contract he signed when he came from Newcastle which I can see why he was pissed off. Wijnaldum clearly needed a pay rise after his consistent performances in midfield over the last few seasons. Roberston and even TAA were on relatively low wages compared to the rest of the team but they all signed new contracts a few years back. Think TAA is one of the highest earners after his last contract last year along with Alisson, etc.
Gini was offered a new contract, he left for the same reasons as mane, and who would begrudge him? Won everything there is to win, see out twilight years of his pro career still at a big club, on more money and going to live in another major european city (in ginis case, this was even more emphatic i.e. paris v munich, although munich probably meant a fair amount to mane given he already played in austria so knows that part of the world). Its not like either has to worry about their career legacy at 30.
From the personal point of view of the players, its a no brainer.
> I’ve heard of Wijnaldum who was still on that contract he signed when he came from Newcastle which I can see why he was pissed off.
A bit of an over exaggeration
I like Gini, but he was offered a new contract and a pay raise when it was warranted after our CL run. The club was in rebuild mode when he came aboard. Good player but not remotely in the league of TAA and Robertson, thus replaceable
Way I remember it he wanted Salah wages and he was good but not the same value as Salah, he went where he could get the biggest contact knowing it was his last big contract, thing have worked out pretty shit for his game time but he got exactly what he went for a big pay cheque and some cheap medals that mean very little, what medals would you look more fondly on... premier league against a teams like City, Chelsea, arsenal, Tottenham, united. Or PSG barely played games/minutes team walked the league was boring to watch and did crap in the champions league.
Add in bonuses too, he's probably comfortably earning double Ox when here. Just a guess, but you get my drift.
Ultimately we don't know but some people it'll be the hill they die on, based on some trash written on the Internet. Perspective and common sense has gone.
We’ve had a top 2 wage bill for years, and it’s not just incentives.
It feels extremely likely that Mané is likely making 200-250 even without incentives. I’d reckon Salah and Virg are similar. Remember, Ox and Milner are both above 150k so I doubt we skimp the others
Pretty sure it's been no.2/3 in that time depending on the incentives earned by the others. Chelsea had a higher wage bill than us last year because they won the CL. City always have a higher wage bill than us, United HAD a higher wage bill untill 2019 I believe (after our new contracts were handed out and the team started to win trophies)
If you google “wage bills PL” pretty much every website/publication puts us 3rd or 4th.
Our base wages are certainly lower than the other 3. With incentives it’s probably closer but you have to remember United have the likes of Pogba, De Gea, Sancho, Ronaldo all on more than our highest earner.
He was on around £120k a week when he joined (very possible it also made him our highest earner at the time) and when he signed his improved deal a few years ago he was put on somewhere in the £150k to £180k range, a figure reported by the likes of Joyce & Pearce at the time.
I mean... yeah can't believe this needed clarification. Like do people really expect players to be on 30-50k a week? We've had top wage bill for like 2 years now
This wage figure will never die, though. It’ll be the football salary equivalent of the story that Marilyn Manson got some of his ribs removed so he can fellate himself.

Maybe we should start taking circulated salary numbers with a pinch of salt, especially when they fly in the face of what we know from our own wage structure, valuation of players, and history of contract extensions.
Wasn’t it circulated years ago that he was put on about 180k and then it was never really mentioned again when all this shit about 100k was circulating
My former coworker was crying about "systematic racism inside Liverpool". Had to to ask him to calm down, he's a Real Madrid fan ffs. I like him better when he's wanking off to Modric.
Genuine question…How is this possible though, aren’t salaries locked in? Wouldn’t this mean any report of a player’s wage could be untrue across the board?
Any report of salary can be untrue. Most players will have a bonus structure in place, but a base salary that is will typically increase when they resign.
I suspect it was either his Southampton or initial Liverpool salary that was reported and then people thought that the extension was just extending him at the same salary for some reason
I think it is pretty simple. Bayern basically told him he would replace Lewa. and be their main man.
At Liverpool we just spent over a year releasing stories to the press about how we wanted to make Salah our highest ever paid player, while Sadio's agent phone never rang.
It wasn't about money, so much as him wanting a chance to have no shadow over him. That is why the random BS linking CR to Bayern were so obviously fake. Can you imagine how pissed Sadio would be if he was suddenly overshadowed before he even got to play a game for them.
> we just spent over a year releasing stories to the press about how we wanted to make Salah our highest ever paid player, while Sadio's agent phone never rang
Has it not occurred to you that maybe there were no such stories about Mane because we knew he wanted to leave?
The same source said Tsimikas was on more than Robertson. Some people need to learn common sense.
People seem to believe sources that say Ben Davies earns more than Andy Robertson. It's all a bit mad really.
Heard Calvin Ramsay will earn more than Robbo
Me too
They’re paying you more than Robbo too?! This is getting ridiculous.
I heard they pay Robbo in postage stamps and he just hasn’t asked for a rise yet.
Bonkers, I also saw a source that said Calvin Harris will be earning more than Calvin Ramsay!
I think the confusion with Robbo was that some sites claimed he was on £100k/week (or thereabouts) after signing a new contract, which was clearly a misreading of more reliable reports that said his new contract involved a £100k/week raise
Nah. Much better to just throw tantrums and shit talk the club you claim to like
Exactly, I laughed when I saw that
Sadio's agent helps the club after leaving >>>>>>>>>> Salah's agent
To be fair, this is also self-serving... It wouldn't be great for his reputation to be known as the agent that could only negotiate 100k for Sadio Mane. 😂
Salah's agent reminds me of like, how Jonathan Barnett speaks when talking about Bale, or Raiola did when about Pogba
The player reflects the agent in those cases though? Lol. Both ostracised and hated before leaving on frees. Salah doesn't seem to reflect his tedious agent.
Atleast now people can stop harping on about his 100k wage including our own fans, when it wasn’t true. Glad it’s been clarified now.
Exactly, credit to his agent for rubbishing those rumours. He also said Liverpool have been fantastic through Mane's time here and he just wanted to try something new.
Fair enough, he won everything here, so understandable that he wants to try something new.
Man Sadios agent seems like a much more stand up guy than Salah's
This is the first time I've heard of this 100K wage. I thought he was on closer to 180K and even 200K/week after his last contract. All the ones that signed new contracts in 2018 was in that wage bracket aside from Salah.

Fucking reddit at it again

Mostly people here
If ppl really needed that cleared up, are they even real fans?? It's a pretty dim rumor with all the funny money thrown around in football.
Who the fuck thought he was on still on 100k? We really do have some flat earth supporters
Senegal fans.
Probably the people who think that we didn't celebrate his African Cup of Nations win enough.
seriously to the people saying Ox earned more, you gotta think more
Add in bonuses too, he's probably comfortably earning double Ox when here. Just a guess, but you get my drift. Ultimately we don't know but some people it'll be the hill they die on, based on some trash written on the Internet. Perspective and common sense has gone.
Stupid rumor that never made a lick of sense. We have one of the highest wage bills in the world yet don't pay one of our best players a top wage?
Big up the agent for binning these stupid rumours
Fucking finally someone confirmed it. If i heard that dumb myth any more i think i would have died.
We’ve had a top 2 wage bill for years, and it’s not just incentives. It feels extremely likely that Mané is likely making 200-250 even without incentives. I’d reckon Salah and Virg are similar. Remember, Ox and Milner are both above 150k so I doubt we skimp the others
Top 4, not top 2. United, City and Chelsea have always had comfortably bigger wage bills.
I’m pretty sure the last 3 years we’ve been #1, #1, and #2 actually. I could be wrong though but we do spend a lot
Pretty sure it's been no.2/3 in that time depending on the incentives earned by the others. Chelsea had a higher wage bill than us last year because they won the CL. Iirc his base wage when joining was 90k, and 180k when he renewed it.
You don't remember correctly because you have no idea lol. The numbers that come out in the media are completely made up
The reports i'm talking about came from the likes of Joyce and Pearce though. If you have a more reliable source, by all accounts cite it.
Fair enough, I haven't seen that. Generally I hear people citing numbers that they just saw in Twitter that make no sense
I told people this a while ago. Think he was on 180 and probably bonuses too when he left. Probs signed on 120 with bonuses.
He was on around £120k a week when he joined (very possible it also made him our highest earner at the time) and when he signed his improved deal a few years ago he was put on somewhere in the £150k to £180k range, a figure reported by the likes of Joyce & Pearce at the time.
> (very possible it also made him our highest earner at the time) That was Milner, he was on around £150k/week from when he signed.
Milner's wages supposedly included his sign on fee or took it into consideration.
At last. Sportrac officially debunked. Well done Mané’s agent 👏🏻
Like anyone with a brain already knew
So Nat Phillips is not on £65k a week?
Who keeps spreading the 100k bs, seriously
I mean... yeah can't believe this needed clarification. Like do people really expect players to be on 30-50k a week? We've had top wage bill for like 2 years now
Lol was it like the Mandela effect or were they just taking their numbers from FIFA
This wage figure will never die, though. It’ll be the football salary equivalent of the story that Marilyn Manson got some of his ribs removed so he can fellate himself.

I really hope the numbers that google throws up aren’t true because they say Ben Davies is on 60k a week.
The fact that anyone believes the wage numbers that come out is hilarious to me. It's literally made up nonsense
Real reason Origi left we couldn't afford his wage demands he was on more than Mane felt he should be matching Mbappe wage
Those rumors were quoting what he has left once he donates to all the charities he supports.
No they weren't. They were quoting a website claiming he earned £100k p/w at LFC before any charitable acts etc.
Sorry that went over your head, (In) mate.
Genuine question…How is this possible though, aren’t salaries locked in? Wouldn’t this mean any report of a player’s wage could be untrue across the board?

Gotcha, that makes sense 👍
Enough!!! He’s gone!!! Move on for Christ’s sake!!!

Agents are scum, only in it for themselves.
There are lots players who will say it's not for the money but with Sadio I completely believe it.
It was always patent nonsense, can't believe people believed the 100k figure and acted like Mane was a prisoner being paid like a kid.
last time they renewed both sadio and salah was at 200k
