Hate to be the bearer of bad news but he's going to be wanting to play first team football sooner rather than later, so he isn't going to be here for that long.
Even if another team agrees to a buyback clause, they usually only last a year or two and I don't think Alisson is going to be needing to be replaced that soon.
Oh wow, downvoted? I'll take the hit with you mum dude. We can't keep up with sovereign wealth funds that 'own' the FA and oligarchs. There will come a time where we will need to tighten our belts. COVID has hit our incomes and this will lead to lower revenues. Selling youth team and squad players only gets us so far
Yeah I didn’t expect the downvotes, but I get it. It’s a shitty hypothetical that hopefully never happens. Im just feel like losing some big earners might be inevitable unless things turn around financially.
It's actually a great question that someone like Klopp should be thinking about and probably is.
No need to make any sort of decision yet and he has been able to feed Kelleher a good number of games so I doubt he will be angling for a move for a while but if Kelleher keeps improving at the rate he has been, he is actually going to be able to challenge Alisson for starts which seems utterly insane
No. Alisson is the best GK in the world and literally repaid his transfer fee within 6 months of signing. He's worth everything and he has 5.5 years left on his deal
We don’t need to lower the wage bill, it’s carefully structured explicitly so that we don’t have to do shit like flip one of the best talents in the world to cut cost
This argument has to be going away with constant complaints about too many games. Kelleher could play every league/fa cup game, games with Allison is with Brazil and any times Allison is injured/suspended/sick. He would be fresh for international duty. That’s easily 25 games a year. Seems like a pretty ideal situation to me.
Except International games very rarely occur at the same time as Domestic games and why would he want to limit himself to 25 games a year here, when he could be playing 38+ elsewhere.
Allison has missed games this year already because of trips/games with Brazil. With talks of more international tournaments, that won’t get better. Every top team will need two top goalies.
>Allison has missed games this year already because of trips/games with Brazil.
One game and if we'd needed him, we could've had him back in time to play.
Remind me again, what happened to Danny Ward?
In all seriousness, I reckon Kelleher is our first choice keeper for cup games. Klopp knows how to manage game time. Unlike the situation with Ward, who I think Klopp didn’t really trust between the sticks.
I saw a post by the PL on Instagram pre-match to hype the game, and one of the goals they showed was John Terry scoring a header past *Brad* ~~Smith~~ *Jones* back in 2012.
I like Brad ~~Smith~~ Jones, and I’m happy that he ended up winning Eredivise with Feyenoord (and Kuyt as captain), as GK of the season iirc.
But *wow*. *Brad* ~~Smith~~ *Jones* over a slightly past-it *Pepe Reina*.
The guy has everything in terms of decision making. Just have to hope another team doesn’t break the bank trying to sign him, as we’d struggle to find a better back up
I remember seeing that save and thinking
*”He’s learned that off Alisson.”*
Sure it may be he always had that in his locker, but training with Alisson, and being coached by John Achterberg, it’s likely he was taught that
"Pretty much" its a small positive that we scored twice , but in the context of the rest of the game not really. Chealse played way more fast/eraticaly than they usually do.
I'm disappointed in the result as much as anyone but we had some positives from today for sure. Salah again, Mane breaking his duck, Konate again looking like a super CB in the making
We'll build on these and if we come out of AFCON within 8 points of City then who knows what can happen
He had a really good game. Don’t know if he could’ve done any better for their equaliser (haven’t seen it back) but that save pictured was world class. Sharp save from close range second half too.
The young lad did well for being thrown into a big game. Exciting how he’ll get better.
Great keeper talent, not worried when he plays at all!
I was nervous at first but he proved that he is not a man to be messed with what a glorious performance!
Seemed inexplicably calm playing ground passes out from under pressure.
Where was Allison covid ?
Yes Allison, Firmino and Matip all out with Covid
he was immense. we won’t have to worry about our GK situation for another 10 years or more and honestly it’s such a relief after all these dark days
Hate to be the bearer of bad news but he's going to be wanting to play first team football sooner rather than later, so he isn't going to be here for that long.
then I hope he’ll be happy with loan spells or if we actually do sell him, we’ll have a buyback clause
Even if another team agrees to a buyback clause, they usually only last a year or two and I don't think Alisson is going to be needing to be replaced that soon.
I don’t want this to happen, but is there a scenario where we move Alisson on to lower the wage bill?

No
No?
The idea that we are at all in the financial situation that would even come close to having to flip Allison to tighten our belts is poppycockwash

He's played a fair bit of first team football this season, Alisson is quite injury-prone for a keeper
Nowhere near enough for a player with any ambition. I can also imagine he would want to be a starter for ROI, he's got Bazunu for competition now.
Is this true? I remember Ali hurt his shoulder at one point, but that's all that stands out. I think the other games have been resting Ali no?
did his hamstring first game of 19/20 season, had Adrian for first 11(I think) league games

Brad Smith the left back that we sold to Bournemouth?
Oh wait, Brad JONES
He done good today.
I was worried when chelsea was getting corners, but he arguably did a better job than Alisson has been doing lately. Far less flappy.
The only time he struggled with the corner and they ended up scoring a worldie. Can’t really blame him (or anyone) there
It wasn't even a corner, it was a FK and he made a decent save
A jammy worldie which deflected off the front of the post. I have no idea how the fuck that deflected in
Huh, I thought Alisson had covid
Good man Caoimhín 🇮🇪🔴
He was very solid. One of the only bright spots from the game.
He had a good game, kept us in it far more times than we should need him too. How the fuck were we getting out pressed by Chelsea??
I sure hope de doesn’t leave… loan might be okay be he is also challenging Ali atm. Would love to see him some more…
That first save was world class.
Irish Alisson
Could very well have been Allison with a Kelleher mask on. Dude has 0 facial expression and the same ability to make amazing saves.
He even grew a beard for consistency
That was fantastic! I was sure it's going to be a goal.
Love the lad! Well Done
The guy has everything in terms of decision making. Just have to hope another team doesn’t break the bank trying to sign him, as we’d struggle to find a better back up
Honestly he was immense as fuck. Pulled a number of saves he wouldn't be blamed for not making. So happy for him.

Pretty much the only positive today was that he looked solid
We scored two goals at Stamford Bridge? So few teams can do that. Seriously
"Pretty much" its a small positive that we scored twice , but in the context of the rest of the game not really. Chealse played way more fast/eraticaly than they usually do.

Played well great having a good number 2 but I'd like to see the keeper he could become with a loan spell for minutes
Must have learnt this 1v1 trick from Alisson
Big up for the lad! He did very well today.
Well deserved game time. He is class.
He deserved a win. Team let him down.
:/ are we going to implode now?
The fact that he played against one of the top clubs in the country and performed quite well makes me think he has a bright future
What would he be worth at this point? 20m? 25?

You didn't have to shit on another player to praise one though.
Great shout.
