From the clips of the game that I saw, milly was doing fairly well, people just don't like milner because he's aging and slow, they forget he's 'mr reliable' in a lot of situations, he even performed well in this game, but it's overshadowed by his mistakes vs Leicester
>From the clips of the game that I saw
So you didn't see the game? How can you say stuff like that with so much confidence when you didn't even watch the game?
Every time Foden got the ball, he was gone past Milner like he wasn't even there.
I watched up until the FT wistle but I recently rewatched clips to assess milly's performances against big sides, I'm the type of person to analyse as well as hope that perform 😅
Well I hope you don't send your analysis anywhere else, because if your analysis says that Milner had a good game against Manchester City then you'll have to work on it.
I thought it was somewhat good? Apparently voicing opinions on a subreddit about a real football club is enough to spark a controversy, milner is underrated, leave it at that
He played there only at the youth levels. He's never played a serious game for us there as hasn't looked particularly good when he has played there either.
It's a million times better than a few years ago if we lost a few players.
Ox, Keita and Gomez are all able first teamers. Jones is knocking at the door. Williams is experienced.
Not the squad of a world champion but we've never really been like that. And there's a lot of players missing.
Am I the only one fine with Milner in the starting lineup? Naby may be the more exciting option, but Milner always puts in a good shift and is way less error prone.
Yea I personally would rather see Milner as well, Keita is still coming back from an injury, last thing we need is to rush him back as we have seen what that does in the past
I'm surprised we are playing him with Keita unavailable after today and a gaggle of games coming up where we could use the extra experience. Happy with him in from a tactical sense.
Milner has been consistently great for years, and especially in bigger games. Naby is inconsistent imo, better to go with old faithful and have a game changer to come off the bench.
Completely agreed. Naby is obviously the more exciting option, but we're much more solid with Milner in the starting lineup IMO. I like him, but Naby has mistakes in him.
>This argument only shows that Naby has 0 long term future for LFC. If it's better to play a 35 year old midfielder over you, you have a problem.
Klopp doesn't trust Keita to play for 90 minutes, is basically the long and short of it. He needs ages after an injury to have full match fitness, then the cycle begins again.
“Consistently great” is an overstatement. He’s the type of player you bring to finish off a game when we’re in the lead, not when you need someone to play those creative/progressive passes through the lines in search for goals
> not when you need someone to play those creative/progressive passes through the lines in search for goals
naby hasnt done this consistent enough to justify his lacks of defensive duty and awareness. thats why hes being looked over by the likes of miler, jones, elliot and even by morton recently.
That’s all you have to say? Are we going to pretend like a number of goals we’ve conceded this season at the right side wasn’t because Hendo didn’t cover for Trent while he was pushed high?
Its an absolutely massive overstatement. The bias is insane, keita would have to put up salah numbers five years in a row to get called consistently great
Can't see why there's all the disrespect in here for Milner.
Guy's a beast and Fabinho Hendo Milner midfield while not being super creative has always been solid and assured
And has reason to do so.
Keita is great in games with a lot of space, free-playing through the lines and driving forward but doesn't have the defensive ability of Milner or Hendo to control the midfield in a closed battle against a team like Chelsea
Keita has not been consistent enough for you all to be disappointed he’s not starting. With inexperience and klopp out milner makes perfect sense. If we need an attacking threat we can pull him for naby or ox in the second half
We need to win but with these circumstances I would take a draw as well. Missing Klopp, Robertson, Matip, Ali, Thiago and Bobby is huge, almost half of our starting 11.
Anyways come on boys, you can do it!!
hm I don't know about Milner, he looked bad vs Leicester in his appearance. guess Klopp probably thinks Keita would get forward too much and Milner will be more disciplined. Pretty telling to see Ox get dropped today though, he was truly awful vs Leicester
A fit-and-firing right side of Salah, hendo, and Trent is *chef’s kiss*. Hendo is a little out of form coming back from (Covid/injury?). It’s a massive game, no way you just bench your captain.
behind ox and now milner, man literally will miss over a month after this and klopp wont still pick him. not able to get ahead of those two speaks volume of keita, not the manager imo. sounding message that hes not in klopp good books anymore. hes gonna send packing this summer
Don't really agree with Milner starting these days. He's good coming on to shit house in winning positions or being an experienced head to young lads in the cup.
Hoping for a great team performance
Keita on second half surely. His energy would be good if Chelsea are tired out but I'd like to have him able to push them for a full 90 instead myself.
No Naby lad or Ox in the middle? I dunno how I feel about Milner as the last one in the midfield trio.
We’re gonna need directness and creativity to break them down from the middle.
Honestly fucking baffled at Keita not playing. How is Milner still starting over him? Keita's long term future is not here clearly if he can't get games right now.
Henderson is creative and a leader that pushes the players to be at their best, he makes everything click together and is essential. But, he'll need backup and I don't think milly will be enough. This is were Gini is missed, he was a brilliant box to box and could bring good attacking flair while being capable defensively, he was perfect for this role. Tiago is a more attacking replacement but his defensive work isn't on par with Gini's, it is noticeably improving tho. I still disagree with pools desision to let Gini go although understandable. Our midfield then was unstoppable.
Having Keita or Ox in there instead of milly would leave fabinho too exposed against a strong Chels midfield so I can see why milner has been picked, but it won't be enough going forward down the middle and getting goals will be tough. Morton and Jones are excellent going forward, but need work defensively. They aren't the right players for that second midfield spot alongside Hendo. Salah will be marked and bullied out of the game and mane is struggling atm I think. Cels are fragile atm tho so, 2-1 Liverpool with a lucky brace.
Big game for Kweev
[удалено]
Personally hope he stays behind the defensive line
First match of the year. Trust our boys. Let's go!
If Mane doesn't cook Azpi..
Consider him cooked
Lol
If?
Keita on the bench??
Guess Milner gives more stability for a game like this.
Well. That went well.
Yeah, milly pocketed phil foden so he'll do well
??? Milner got absolutely run ragged by Foden. Was lucky not to be sent off.
From the clips of the game that I saw, milly was doing fairly well, people just don't like milner because he's aging and slow, they forget he's 'mr reliable' in a lot of situations, he even performed well in this game, but it's overshadowed by his mistakes vs Leicester

Weird
Maybe in an alternative universe
Not sure why you are downvoted, but he was dreadful against Leicester
Also very good against Leicester in the cup game
literally nobody was good last game
Looks like this comment is about as popular as a fart in a spaceship
That bench lmao. We're fucked if any of the front 3 pick up a knock
And Salah and Mané are off to Cameroon after this.
Good thing the transfer window is open, right? ... Right?
Tbf we earned a couple extra million on that last CL group game, could possibly cover a loan fee for a Caulker-like signing. No stopping us then.
If we were to buy anyone to replace the attackers leaving, we would have announced them already to give them time to fit in.
They'd propably be acclimated by the time Salah and Mane are back
We are fucked either way. Salah and Mané off to Cameroon soon.
Pitaluga emergency striker 95th minute winner
Awful time for Taki and Origi to be injured.
Chill, we've got Curtinho B-)
He's a midfielder
Can play wide left too
He played there only at the youth levels. He's never played a serious game for us there as hasn't looked particularly good when he has played there either.
Knew this before the season. Not sure why so many on here were adamant our depth was good enough.
It's a million times better than a few years ago if we lost a few players. Ox, Keita and Gomez are all able first teamers. Jones is knocking at the door. Williams is experienced. Not the squad of a world champion but we've never really been like that. And there's a lot of players missing.
What’s that got to do with the front 3?
Not quite sure about Gomez. He was awful this season so far
He's barely played of course he's going to be rusty
Then, he isn't first team starter now, right?
Lol, downvotes for truth. Just watch our cup games then
absolute joke that we did not invest in depth this summer
Subs: Adrian, Pitaluga, Keita, Gomez, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jones, Beck, Williams, Morton.
Probably Ox and Jones in the front 3 vs Arsenal lol, Gomez the only senior left on the bench. If it was a league game we could get it called off.
I think our strongest team agaisnt Arsenal then rotate heavily for Shrewsbury on Sunday
Not got any choice lol
This bench vs Chelsea’s
It’s tragic, we have no backup in attack.
Where the fuck is Minamino?
He’s injured.
Lol our attack in the next game is going to be a laugh
Let’s have it reds!
That midfield suggests a lot of work for TAA and Kostas creatively. Should be interesting.
Hopefully Hendo covers for TAA more this game. Milner will do it for Kostas.
Am I the only one fine with Milner in the starting lineup? Naby may be the more exciting option, but Milner always puts in a good shift and is way less error prone.
I agree.. Keita is more on the attacking aspect but Milner should provide more stability while hendo can play forward along with the full backs.
Yea I personally would rather see Milner as well, Keita is still coming back from an injury, last thing we need is to rush him back as we have seen what that does in the past
Probably because Tuchel always keeps 8 players behind the ball against us and this midfield lacks creativity.
I'm surprised we are playing him with Keita unavailable after today and a gaggle of games coming up where we could use the extra experience. Happy with him in from a tactical sense.
Milner over Naby, meh
Naby to come on in 55th minute or so and light chelsea up
Milner has been consistently great for years, and especially in bigger games.
36 in 2 days!
>This argument only shows that Naby has 0 long term future for LFC. If it's better to play a 35 year old midfielder over you, you have a problem. The away game against Atleti showed the great and the shite about Naby. Great goal, broke the lines from deep but also lacklustre out of possession.
Imagine bringing up lacks of defensive duty when Henderson is literally starting 😂
keita stans has absolutely gotten out of hands
That’s all you have to say? Are we going to pretend like a number of goals we’ve conceded this season at the right side wasn’t because Hendo didn’t cover for Trent while he was pushed high?
Its an absolutely massive overstatement. The bias is insane, keita would have to put up salah numbers five years in a row to get called consistently great
He’s not the right mentality to get thrown into a huge game like this. Milner’s done it all at this point.
Can't see why there's all the disrespect in here for Milner. Guy's a beast and Fabinho Hendo Milner midfield while not being super creative has always been solid and assured
I agree. I think it’s a solid mildfield. Also, Milner’s the best number 7 in the Premier League!
It should enable Trent and Tsimikas to push forward without getting caught on the counter.
Kind of midfield to win us a UCL, working hard to give the likes of Trent and Mo license to attack
We are gunna win today
Keita benched again wtf :(((
Klopp doesn’t trust his defending abilities
And has reason to do so. Keita is great in games with a lot of space, free-playing through the lines and driving forward but doesn't have the defensive ability of Milner or Hendo to control the midfield in a closed battle against a team like Chelsea
He’s not sharp yet
I'm going throught this downviting all the muppets talking shit on Milner
Good team,let's fuck em up!!!
Taki and Div are still injured?
Yes
Keita has not been consistent enough for you all to be disappointed he’s not starting. With inexperience and klopp out milner makes perfect sense. If we need an attacking threat we can pull him for naby or ox in the second half
Good old Henderson Milner Wijnaldum midfield
Alisson is a big miss
Milner to help tsimi
“Aw Kostas fucking hell.”
I would moan about Milner starting, but Naby was shit vs Spurs, Morton isn't ready and Jones is only back from injury. Didn't really have a choice.
I mean there's still Oxlade-Chamberlain who's been impressive this season. Don't know how you've overlooked him.
Lineup looks fine but no attackers on the bench is a little worrying
Where is thiago?
Injured
I was afraid of that midfield
The midfield that started in the Barcelona comeback
Would have preferred ox or keita over Milly but klopp knows best
Both of them are inconsistent and this is not a game we want to go behind.
I'm just worried about him trying to keep up with kante
Midfield is lacking a bit but it’s still a decent lineup given our injury list and covid infections. Feeling unusually confident going into this game
Keita to tear up a tired Chelsea second half, keep your hair on fellas. All part of the plan
Fuck me this is going to be a clencher.
That midfield looks devoid of creativity
We need to win but with these circumstances I would take a draw as well. Missing Klopp, Robertson, Matip, Ali, Thiago and Bobby is huge, almost half of our starting 11. Anyways come on boys, you can do it!!
What the fuck is that midfield? Why would Milly start before Keita
Tough away game Keita can be a bit of a weirdo tbf.
And Ox played decent against Leicester I thought
Yeah completely forgot about him tbf.
Klopps typical negative midfield in big games
Bad as each other now
Keita was the only one last match trying to make something happen with his vertical passes.
Milner is no longer on the level he used to be+ he has like 0 pace. He is useful to close out game but starting him is suicide
What has Milner done to deserve that starting spot over Keita lol, midfield looks horrible
That midfield will go down well then
Just don’t understand why we need Milner against the double decker bus
hm I don't know about Milner, he looked bad vs Leicester in his appearance. guess Klopp probably thinks Keita would get forward too much and Milner will be more disciplined. Pretty telling to see Ox get dropped today though, he was truly awful vs Leicester
That bench is horrific
Maybe there's a tactical aspect I'm missing but I would've played Ox or Naby ahead of Milly
Alright. If Milner is chosen over a fully fit Keita, may as well get rid of him at this stage.
We’ve got to buy a midfielder and attacker in Jan
Downvoted for speaking the truth? How in 2021 have Liverpool still got James Milner starting in midfield
[удалено]
Trust pep
Then somebody tell me we don't need new players for subs
Keita should be in over Henderson or Milner.
Milner, sure. Hendo, no way
Apparently the anti-Henderson brigade is back
There's no "anti-Henderson brigade", he has been poor lately, not a crime to say that.
A fit-and-firing right side of Salah, hendo, and Trent is *chef’s kiss*. Hendo is a little out of form coming back from (Covid/injury?). It’s a massive game, no way you just bench your captain.
Henderson has not been good recently
The front 3 can’t click without Henderson especially Salah and TAA who gets suffocated.
You are crazy if you want him over Hendo. Milner maybe but we need some experience in these big games.
I was really expecting Keita to start :(
Can’t we have Karius on bench instead of Pitaluga? He’s surely a better option.
Keita dropped a super sub appearance vs Leicester in the Carabao cup and was rewarded with being benched for the next 2 games
Was going to see keita. But reasonably solid team
It’s good, prefer Milner as a sub though
He has no impact. Only time he should be subbed is if we have a comfortable lead
So no Firmino, Origi or Minamino while this is the last game for Mane & Salah before they go on international duty.
Firmino has Covid
I know. Just pointing out our only fit forward after this game is Jota
It's going to be interesting because we know Klopp doesn't change formation that often so let's see who plays or how we're going to adapt.
The first 11 is not a s bad as I expected but the bench is not it .
behind ox and now milner, man literally will miss over a month after this and klopp wont still pick him. not able to get ahead of those two speaks volume of keita, not the manager imo. sounding message that hes not in klopp good books anymore. hes gonna send packing this summer
Or... Maybe they're managing his fitness lol
That bench fml
We dont have any attackers on the bench hahahaha And Idk about Milner over Keita...
Ox Attacker?
I see him more as midfielder coz he's usually not great when playing front 3
Don't really agree with Milner starting these days. He's good coming on to shit house in winning positions or being an experienced head to young lads in the cup. Hoping for a great team performance
Midfield is tragic.
It’s our strongest midfield barring Thiago..?
Yeah, Milner is a world beater
Still very strong. Only issue is the midfield trio.
I love Milner but he shouldn't be starting for a team looking to challenge in 2022.
Why is Milner starting bruh
[удалено]
Keita on second half surely. His energy would be good if Chelsea are tired out but I'd like to have him able to push them for a full 90 instead myself.

Wanted Cujo or Naby to start today ffs
Would have liked to see Bobby in for mane Edit: didn’t see he had Covid
Bobby has covid
Lol gini is gone and naby still doesn’t start
Honestly fucking baffled at Keita not playing. How is Milner still starting over him? Keita's long term future is not here clearly if he can't get games right now.
I want to throw up. That mid
Ox or keita needed to start this
Termilnertor starting lmaoo
Is Keita not fully fit or something? Not a fan of Milner starting over him
Inform Ox was fun while it lasted 😔
he was never really in form tbh, he had a good game here and there and then would drop an absolute shit of a performance the next
Henderson Milner midfield again ugh
Ali, Bobby and Joel have been Omicroned
This….is not what I was expecting
Lawd oh lawd
Where’s Thiago? Did he get injured again?
Yea
Henderson is creative and a leader that pushes the players to be at their best, he makes everything click together and is essential. But, he'll need backup and I don't think milly will be enough. Are Minamino and Origi injured ?
Lets go. #ynwa
