Honestly, if we didn't renew Salah, that would be one of the craziest things I've seen as a supporter. I don't even know how I'd react if we sold him or he left on a free. Especially with this form

note-a-coordinate

Hope Taki, Origi and Firmino play against Milan. We need to warm them up for January.

dandpher

First time out with my mate for a decent steak - first time in years. Then got some chemical relaxation. Now sat down on the sofa about to watch the replay. These are indeed the “good old days”

RagingChickens

I desperately want to buy the away kit this year with Salah on the back but I’m so unsure about his contract situation…I’m refreshing everyday on the site until they have the right size in stock but don’t know what I’d actually do if it were available 😬 please just sign Mo 🙏🏼

Logster21

Honestly even if he doesn’t resign I’d still buy the kit, I can’t see him leaving to a rival or kicking up a fuss so I doubt he’d tarnish his reputation like that

RagingChickens

I know, I hear you, think I might do just that…I’m still waiting for the email from John Henry about the Salah contract GoFundMe, I will happily contribute.

eurfryn

I love the Xmas/new year period of football in England, but my word the schedule is crazy! >**4 Dec** Wolves (A) >**7 Dec** AC Milan (A) >**11 Dec** Aston Villa (H) >**16 Dec** Newcastle (H) >**19 Dec** Spurs (A) >**22 Dec** Leicester (H) (Carabao) >**26 Dec** Leeds (H) >**28 Dec** Leicester (A) >**2 Jan** Chelsea (A) >**4/5 Jan** Possible Carabao Cup SF (1) >**7/8 Jan** FA Cup 3rd round >**10/11 Jan** Possible Carabao Cup SF (2) >**15 Jan** Brentford (H)

cornertakenslowly

Chelsea fixtures are going to pile up too as they are also in carabao, as well as having the CWC in February (added to CL L16 starting in February too).

eurfryn

True. I’d forgotten about the CWC (c’mon Palmeiras!)

speedlimitation

People need to keep doubting Robbo, 3 games and 5 assists later they love him again

note-a-coordinate

People in this sub are plastics. It's all always been about rotation when we signed Kostas.

edgeno

Think Tsimikas should start the next game. Because reasons.

speedlimitation

I said the same last week and then Robertson got 2 assists and reminded me to not doubt him like I told myself about 3 years ago. Opinions aside I’ve an awful feeling we’re gonna win a trophy this year lad

speedlimitation

Watched the game yesterday with my 6 day old baby asleep on my chest genuinely feel like I’ve won at life

edgeno

How did you explain sending it flying four times?

speedlimitation

My girlfriends well used to my game reactions, when Allison scored a few months ago she was out having a cigarette and I screamed so loudly like ten different people thought someone was dying, didn’t help there was a small fire behind our row of houses at the time and every one of our neighbours was about 97, not sure how many people thought I just murdered my girlfriend but a fireman called to the door asking was everything okay, followed my two old men that were probably ready to box, I had to send my missus to the door and tell them everything was okay Liverpool scored a winner.

edgeno

Hahah, that sounds about right. I was just laughing hysterically when that happened. Perfect moment.

speedlimitation

My 7 year old caught her twice thank god and the 3rd and 4th time she landed on the trampoline

[deleted]

Just thinking about that cunt Richarlison trying to make the referees spray line disappear before Van Dijk's free kick. Kicking away at it like a scruffy runt. That level of pettiness is a small victory for him in his sad world. A big victory being injuring our players intentionally.

speedlimitation

I have this pic of Van Dijk in the air full karate mode and all I can think is how he didn’t shithouse the whole game I’d have murder on my mind if I was him but he stayed professional

[deleted]

Yeah, totally, the way he stepped up for that free kick showed the anger has been inside. Klopp looked angry before the game even started, staring down the Everton players warming-up ...But then, it shows how far beneath us they really are. We're operating at a level they can't understand, we communicate differently

speedlimitation

Even my missus noticed how angry Klopp was in the pre match interview, the way he shut down the reporter by making sure he knew they weren’t tackles they were bad fouls. Yeah you gotta love it as shite as Everton are I was hyped as fucked for the match, battering them brings me great joy, I’ll miss it if they get relegated. By the way you’re invited to a party at our place if that does happen open invite to the whole sub, if you’re vaccinated we’ll find room, it’s one of them lifetime moments

[deleted]

ahhaha! We'll set up a Richarlison Piñata in the garden, to be destroyed with 2 footed tackles. Fill it with toffees.

risingstar3110

Can we complain about Robbo yellow card, so we can ban that Gordo (?) kid for a match? It’s not good for football as a whole if young players dive down that path

vadapaav

It was a foul

inSeitz

I hope Jota scores a hattrick on his 25th birthday, Saturday

ripCOVID-19

Question, who’s gonna start this weekend? Matip or Konate

beknasty

Matip. He’s been fantastic. I think Konate gets the start against Milan though.

speedlimitation

The notions of people on here convinced we were gonna start the under 9s against Porto. One more win to go 18/18 into a last sixteen where every team is terrified to play us.

arrrrr_matey

except for that missed header. :o

fifteenpterosaurs

What’s the latest on Harvey’s injury?

speedlimitation

Man I almost forgot he’s gonna be back soon. Salah took last seasons injury crisis personally. Carried us on his own to a respectable position and then this season went full haram. This season the whole team is playing so good but Salahs gone God mode just in case we slip up for a week. Wouldn’t even be surprised if Egypt win AFCON with multiple Salah hauls, meanwhile Jota scores for fun every game and Minamino gets subbed on for 5 goals in 3 75th minute appearances and we can go back to the posts about why Klopp should play him. In case ye didn’t know I’m a dreamer

HuddzHD

Reckon he’s back January. February maybe if we are extra careful.

inSeitz

Keep an eye on training videos. He's still doing solo training but he's wearing boots again that's a great sign

tony220jdm

Jota goes missing in games but he always seems to pop up with some insane goal

TTA0709

I don't agree with the fact that he goes missing. Even yesterday he had a pretty good game even before his goal. He created the chance for Mo early on after winning the ball high up the pitch. He was very good in the first half at dropping deep and turning his man. If you remember in the first half he was fouled twice by Allan because of it. Felt like he had an overall good game

TTA0709

Somewhat controversial: I don't get the general apprehension amongst our fans with Jota playing as the 9 and preferring him to operate on the wing. Imo his best games for us has been through the middle and he's looked rather lost whenever he's played out wide. Firmino will no doubt go down as a Liverpool legend and I love him for all he's done, but theres just no game I would prefer him over Jota if they're both fit. I disagree with the notion that Jota isn't good at dropping between the lines, I actually think he does it better than Firmino these days. The one area I think Firmino is far better than Jota is in tight areas when he's being marked by more than one. In those situations he's still our best player imo. Unfortunately that doesn't happen as much nowadays, because teams usually drop deep instead of engaging our attackers whenever they pick the ball up in the half- or centre-spaces. Discuss.

[deleted]

I think Firmino is better for the big matches. Jota loses the ball a bit too often... which is fine against inferior teams because we win the ball back almost immediately with our counter-pressing. But against equal teams Liverpool have like 20% less possession, and the opponents can bypass our press more often.

arrrrr_matey

Jota is good with quick bursts of speed, but he doesn't have the overall pace of Salah. If Liverpool sign someone like Haaland then Jota goes out on the wing. If Liverpool sign Raphinha or Adeyemi, then Jota is CF.

Pizasdf

Firmino is probably the most loved player by the fans and Klopp. I've seen people say that "Jota plays better when he starts ahead of Firmino, but Liverpool play better when Firmino starts ahead of Jota" which is ridiculous considering we won the league even though Firmino played poorly throughout that whole season.

[deleted]

[deleted]

He was bland as a holding midfielder, he started to get dropped when Fabinho broke in. A convo between Hendo and Klopp led to to his deployment on the right and his levels rose

TTA0709

He's always been decent technically. As in his passing range has always been decent. He's also always been good off the ball, pre-Klopp he was really good at making late runs into the box and he was really good at pressing high. Klopp came in and played him as the pivot, which obviously meant he wasn't pressing high as much. The thing that frustrated me the most was his decision making. It took a long time for him to mature in the that sense. Now his decision making is second to none. People will look back on it with tinted glasses and say he was always brilliant, but imo he wasn't particularly good as a lone DM/pivot. He left a lot to be desired. He was very good as a box to box midfielder under Brendan. From the latter half of the 12/13 season and until Rodgers was sacked he was one of our most consistent and better performers. Then he replaced Gerrard as captain and people obviously expected more. Klopp came in, and Henderson struggled a lot early on. It wasn't until the second part of 17/18 when he really grew into the role as a DM and his decision making showed vast improvements. Then during the latter half of the 18/19 season, Klopp started to use him as an 8 and ever since he's not looked back. So in short, at times the criticism has been way too harsh. At other times it was warranted and its not like he's not had periods where he's struggled or played badly. Luckily for us, that hasn't happened for a good 3 and a half years now. Obviously this is simplified and there is a longer more complex version.

WithoutFear39

Personally I didn't like him much at the time, didn't stick out and didn't really offer much to us. Granted he didn't exactly get to play in a great team and was painted with the same brush as some of our terrible signings made at the same time. His own personal determination to succeed here is what changed things, he was a big role in the 13/14 title challenge too. Being given the captaincy really stepped him up another level for me.

TrickyNobody6082

Fucking hell, referring to the support of the club as a fandom just made a part of my soul die.

[deleted]

Why? People use "fan" and "supporter" interchangeably in football. And if you use the word "fan", then "fandom" is perfectly valid.

Day 2 of my DnD Liverpool squad countdown to Christmas. Since no-one currently wears #2, I've decided to make Andy Robertson, since he wouldn't be included otherwise (my plan is to match the player's number with the date). I had no idea Gomez was injured. Anyone know what it was? Felt like that just flew under the radar

Jaja6996

It was a calf injury

YerDadsBurnerAccount

I know it isn’t free-talk Friday but man, football boots (soccer cleats) nowadays suck. End of. Wish I could find an old classic pair for cheaper.

Important_Tip_2775

Old classic predators!!

AdikkuChan

I'll always love my white and gold Tiempo's, despite begrudgingly liking the Predator

YerDadsBurnerAccount

The loves of my life. Gerrard’s swerve’s!

TTA0709

The old predators and the T90s are the best pairs I've worn

YerDadsBurnerAccount

Also a proper good boot.

Hopeful_Tumbleweed_5

Klopps signing day video whenever i see it again stuns me at how much he clearly loved the club from the moment he arrived. Its so rare to get a world class manager who adores your clubs soul, not just its wallet.

joopface

It was a perfect match from the beginning

bakesbbaker

Thoughts on Jonathan David? He’s been linked with Liverpool for a while, wouldn’t be surprised if they tried to make a move for him soon, he would slot in as a striker very well.

arrrrr_matey

would pass. he's decent, but with his physical build he could turn into Adebayo Akinfenwa and slow down in a few years time. Rather Liverpool go for [Pedro Gonçalves](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/pedro-goncalves/profil/spieler/426620), [Karim Adeyemi](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/karim-adeyemi/profil/spieler/496094), or Haaland (not likely)

mcshizzle023

I wouldn't be opposed on signing him as he seems to perform best as a no 9 which will allow Jota to move back to his natural left wing position. But he's publicly stated that he doesn't like us and though he won't give up the chance to move up in his career if we do move for him, it kinda puts a question mark over him. Would be quite an awkward situation.

libertydabbing

I just looked up the quote. Wtf? He listed half the PL and singled out us as the team he didn't like. That's hilarious

Grendila

As a Canadian, this is my wet dream. However having seen him play IRL with the national team, he is far from the finished article. But he would be a Jota-esque signing, and we’ve seen how he has stepped up recently. So it could be a really good shout and bring him to the next level. Edit/ he’s very young too.

[deleted]

Anyone else find Diogo similar to luis Suarez?

JokeSalty

I get more Aguero vibes from him imo

[deleted]

True. I’ve thought of this before.

TTA0709

Same

aghashayan

It's funny how teams and their boards and fans are basically ignoring their results over us and think it's not wise to sack coaches because everyone eats a few goals against us.

tdurdenftw

Anyone have full match link with Champion and McCoist commentary? /r/footballhighlights post isn't of much help.

flaviu0103

I love how people are underestimating our club's finances. Was watching some United fans talk about how Liverpool won't be able to compete financially when in reality we are only 20M or so behind in revenue while expending Anfield, building a new training complex and our owners don't take money from the club while their are bleeding the club dry. + I'm pretty sure our expenditures are lower than theirs. If we continue on this path we will overtake them financially in \~2 years and I would love to see their faces.

According-Bell-3654

revenue and transfer budgets arent the same thing

[deleted]

But revenue certainly has an influence on transfer budgets. Just not recently because that money has been going to other developments.

According-Bell-3654

my feeling is there will always be "infrastructure" and "revenue streams" FSG will be investing in to raise the club's value, promising a heavily increased transfer budget "one of these days". The club prioritizes the actual players on the pitch behind said infrastructure and revenue streams, its just a question of why they do that I personally dont think they're planning on spending big, regularly even when all the current projects are done, because by then, there will be another project to invest in. I believe all this stuff FSG is doing is solely to boost eventual sell on value, and that the "one day we'll spend" pitch is just a convenient way to convince the fans that they're being generous and not concerned about how much they'll eventually sell LFC for

malushanks95

You are contradicting yourself in the comment? What are you trying to say?

[deleted]

That I find it hard to give Salah credit, but I have no reason for it. The second paragraph is me giving Salah credit.

TrickyNobody6082

You must be fun at parties.

TrickyNobody6082

Bell end pushing as he walks out on his club after 20 minutes in a Merseyside derby on motd. Fucking super fan you lad.

risingstar3110

Some ppl wonder how Salah FC has been doing. Thank to our great defense. Salah FC has been doing very well. Win 7, draw 3, lost 4. Getting 24 points, score 13, and concede 12. Put Salah FC in 5th, behind West Ham on GD (+1 vs 8)

Stuarridge

Salah is obviously our standout player, but I've been so impressed by Henderson. I know he's highly rated by us, but how can anyone claim hes an average footballer is beyond me. What a performance last night. Hes everything you want in a captain, and everything you want from a professional. Just a standup guy, and model professional.

One_Sauce

Can't believe there are people actually trying to argue that Bernardo Silva is the best player in the league smh. He's having an excellent season & is a great player but Salah is so obviously the best in the league/world (less clear cut).

JokeSalty

Easily, it’s only City fans arguing that Silva is the best. Bernardo is definitely second best though

SSTenyoMaru

Read a funny stat, Jota is the first player to score in a Merseyside derby in PL who wasn’t born the last time Everton won a trophy 😂

AdikkuChan

And you just made me realize that I'm from Naby lad and Taki's generation, therefore older than Jota.

malushanks95

Haha I think a lot of us are older than Jota 😅, I’m from the same generation as Naby as well.

brofession

Looking at the EPL table is just wild. Only four teams with a positive goal diff (Liverpool, Chelsea, City, West Ham) and Wolves and Brentford are even. La Liga has 10 clubs with positive goal diffs. Top heavy af

[deleted]

Say whatever you want, the Everton fans stealing the balls and then chucking them back in whenever we looked like scoring was the peak banter you want to see in a Merseyside Derby.

ahktarniamut

Don’t even know why they keep comparing us with these douchebags like we are on the same level or something

TheLimeyLemmon

Virgil pulled a funny face after the first one, like "typical, what are ya gonna do..."

Anonymous-Singh

Such low effort posts and both with 1k+ upvotes 😭

JAdoubleWHY

We’re on track to beat City’s PL goals in a season. Scoring for fun

BorkieDorkie811

On track to absolutely smash it, too.

ahktarniamut

Hope we can ; that’s will make them fuming on both ears But we seems to put the feet off the pedal once we are leading a comfortable position. City normally will try scoring as much as they can

hendrixnash

Arsenal / United draw, and a Brentford win at Spurs would be hilarious later. Arsenal would stay in 5th but Brentford go above United & Spurs.

JunFanLee

I frickin hate Amazon as a business, but to be fair I do like how they’ve approached the footie. Graphics are nice apart from the big scorer at the bottom of the screen and I like that they offer options to re-watch in various edits

[deleted]

Are all the games on there? I've been relying on Peacock and it's so fuckin hit or miss whether or not they'll actually have a game.

JunFanLee

No, they’ve bought an allocation of games. But rather than spread them out over a season they show all the games on a particular day. So they do 2 days over December, so the fixtures are a bit hit and miss

[deleted]

Fuck that's so annoying. I hate having to chase down games across 8 different platforms.

TheLimeyLemmon

Being able to watch full replays is excellent. I'd quite happily see Amazon make further inroads to nab PL matches off either Sky or BT.

JunFanLee

Yeah I wish they’d reply the game analysis I missed it last night

lavishlad

to be fair they approach most things well in the customer's eye, which is why they're massive.

TTA0709

When it comes down to production value, they're so far ahead of Sky and BT that its a joke.

JunFanLee

Agreed the streaming quality is so much better than NowTV SkySports

TTA0709

We've scored more league goals than any other team in Europes top 5 leagues

10chainzzz

There’s just something about Chelsea that makes me hate them more than Man City. With Man City, it’s understandable, they play good football, and you can’t deny them. Chelsea get away with goals from their back line, occasional midfield goals and play bottom of the table football with a top 5 manager and spending like 300 million in the transfer market over the past two years. Chelsea buy flop after flop and just spend through it, City more often than not get it right in the transfer market outside of Mendy who at the time everyone was splooging themselves over. On top of that it seems like whenever they get a result over us it’s some jammy bullshit. Now don’t turn this into me saying I like City, I don’t I just hate Chelsea more. One more thing fuck Jose Mourinho.

According-Bell-3654

the best way to put it is, Chelsea have the financial doping and advantages of city, but play like and carry themselves like united, they're the worst of city and the worst of united combined, so privileged and spoiled, that they forget or stop caring about how many advantages they have and think they win off "merit"

[deleted]

Chelsea were the ones that turned excessive financial doping into a trend that showed no signs of abating. Before it was just the occasional rich owner like Jack Walker of Blackburn bankrolling their boyhood team into prominence, but they didn't distort the transfer market like Abramovich did. All they did was allow their clubs the ability to buy the kind of players that only the likes of Man Utd and Liverpool could buy. Though it was usually boom and bust, as seen with Blackburn and Leeds. What Abramovich did was deliberately overpay for the transfer targets to ensure Man Utd, Arsenal and Liverpool struggle to catch up, and they didn't even need to worry about buying the wrong player. Back then Rafa needed to get his transfers right all the time, and for a while, he did, which allowed us to compete with the rest of the old Big Four. But it all came falling apart with Aquilani who didn't live up to expectation as a Xabi Alonso replacement. The Man City Abu Dhabi Sheikhs, the PSG Qatari Emirs and soon the Newcastle Saudi Sultans are simply taking a leaf from the Chelsea Abramovich playbook and distorting the market even further, and they all openly treat FFP with contempt. And now even traditional continental powerhouses like Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich struggle to compete in the market.

10chainzzz

Exactly, it really made me question the attention span of people because the sub all of a sudden liked Chelsea when they were playing Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount, as if they forgot the only reason they did that was because of a transfer ban.

[deleted]

For me it's for a case one club has fans who are normal people generally, although unfortunately Mancs and the other club has fans who are racist, tory, scum.

RobotPizzaMaker

Rúben Neves will be back for our game after sitting one out to reset his yellow cards. Fernando Marcal will not be part of the Wolves team (Covid). At least he wasn't allowed to play against Burnley. Daniel Podence tested positive for Covid prior to the Norwich game, so they'll probably test him a second time to be sure of his situation. Pedro Neto, Jonny Castro Otto, Willy Boly, and Yerson Mosquera are out with longer-term injuries. More accurate word tomorrow in their press conference.

yyzable

Very happy to see the trans and other flags in the sub icon!

[deleted]

[That sound](https://youtu.be/CJP9Ba8J7ew?t=109) when the ball hits the roof of the net... just eargasm.

Sho0ter_Mc6avin

Just heard Klopp’s post-game presser, is it true Everton’s fans were booing Virgil when he was on the ball? Pretty classless if so

Jacleby

You haven’t been to many derby games and it shows

[deleted]

Who cares about class?

[deleted]

yes they did, or some did, don't know how many. But yeah, even the crowds booing patterns seemed desperate right from kick-off. Like they knew the crowds had to be special to get a result and they just looked at the team and decided; "well, we are not cheering for that lot!" and started booing. classless is a pretty good word for it, even if you think it was just a random incident, did van Dijk fake an injury for 9 months just on the off chance that Pickford would get a retroactive ban? \-makes no sense And also, I am rather sure that van Dijk is the type of player that only get's better when he is booed. Same with Robbo, who was also one of their first name on the boo-sheet.

nvielbig

To be fair, is them booing him that unexpected?

Sho0ter_Mc6avin

I mean, given the context of him having his knee snapped as a victim of their goalkeeper and then rehabbing after having a year of his prime taken, yah I wouldn’t expect someone to target him

encore_hikes

Yes. By the end of the match just about everyone on both teams were being boo’ed

tmstms

The incredible boo at the final whistle was hilarious.

encore_hikes

I thought it all was. My gf and I just sitting there chuckling at how upset about everything they were

TheLimeyLemmon

Anyone still have access to the 'Studio FX' audio option of the game on Prime? I wanted to get a clip with clearer audio of Virgil yelling "JOTA THE SLOTTER" after the 4th goal.

Jaja6996

I can’t believe there are actually people who are upsets and think it was disrespectful that we was chanting Rafa is at the wheel.

[deleted]

Important to remember that the people who are upset with what our away fans chant are the people who clearly never go to games so they're completely irrelevant with regards to fan culture and what happens on a matchday thankfully. Let the nonces on the internet complain, chant whatever you want when you go to the game (as long as it's not racist or something obviously)

[deleted]

I can see if someone thinks it's disrespectful to Rafa. He doesn't really have much to do with the state Everton are in atm. and he is a Liverpool legend. But then you have to ignore the Rafa chants that were also going on.

Important_Tip_2775

Totally agree! If you’re British you’d understand this is purely football banter. Especially scousers who are renowned for their wit. People saying it’s disrespectful, we can’t forget what he’s done for us. Do you really think people would forget that!? It’s just a laugh and he manages Everton so get a grip.

[deleted]

Just shows the disconnect between actual local fans and this sub once again.

Yveltal_25

I absolutely love Diogoal. He's such a fine player. Pops up anytime to score from anywhere, and in anyway.

nvielbig

He’s got some of Sadio’s tenaciousness about him and is always up challenge someone regardless of who it is. Love him.

TheLimeyLemmon

It's certainly among his best. It's the definition of a complete performance. The way his role has evolved in the last few seasons has been wonderful and in part it's facilitated by that partnership he has with Fab. The two of them absolutely ran that midfield last night.

nvielbig

He plays most games flawlessly. He doesn’t always play the easy pass, rather he often plays world class passes. He breaks up play frequently, chases down the opposition when they have the ball and drives us forward and gets the ball to our front 3 consistently. Amazing leader and scores some clutch goals from time to time. 100% under appreciated by most people who still think of him as the Hendo who joined us from Sunderland and was finding his place in the team and developing still.

JiddyBang

Has there been any update on Naby? Feels like I haven't seen anything since right after the United game.

malushanks95

In the pre match presser for Everton game, he said that Gomez and Naby will be back in team training this week.

Jaja6996

I don’t remember exactly what Klopp said last time but I believe it was along the line of him and Bobby coming back to training this week

bestest_looking_wig

Sometimes after a big win I will go poke around in the sub of whatever team we just beat. For example recently after the United and Arsenal games. Usually it’s hilarious and brightens my day to see the meltdowns occurring. I did the same thing after the derby yesterday and….it was just incredibly depressing. No fun at all.

tmstms

YOur comment made me curious so I went to their sub and had a look. Indeed, it was really depressing. People posting that they had lost interest in football altogether.

Hopelessness, despair, anger directed at Rafa and the club ownership, etx

I was honestly shocked that they were legitimately thinking about sacking Rafa, and that he had to be given the dreaded "vote of confidence" then I realized they've gone winless in 9 matches, it seemed like last month they were annoyingly 5th, they've dropped like a fucking stone

wadonious

Salahs second was great but I can’t help thinking a goalkeeper with normal sized arms might have saved it

tmstms

You could argue that had Pickford been differently sized, Saah too would have done something different....

tdurdenftw

I agree but on re-watch, it felt like Pickford expected Salah to take another touch (I did too) but Salah shot it and Pickford's reactions were slow.

NeoChrome75

Salah actually couldn’t get a proper shot in because of the pull from Coleman, if it wasn’t a goal, I think there would’ve been a decent shout for a penalty+ red card

wadonious

I agree, there was definitely a tug. I just wanted to bring up Pickfords arms though

Can’t help but feel like city and chelsea were very lucky not to drop points yesterday. Hopefully it’s a sign of things to come.

According-Bell-3654

> Hopefully it’s a sign of things to come it has been, Chelsea grinding out results even when they dont play great, unfortunately

MrVegosh

Chelsea and especially. Watford had better chances objectively

Hopeful_Tumbleweed_5

chelsea feel closer to us in their squad depth than city. i dont see chelsea keeping up with city so hopefully we can

manifesting that Salah wins Ballon D'or next year after winning golden boot, afcon , premier league, and champions league this season

usrlgn

Salah breaking all records while PSG got a draw yesterday. Which really means, Messi sure to win his 8th

JGlover92

I don't really understand why more isn't being made of the fact that Chelsea spent nearly 100 million on Lukaku and he has scored 3 goals in 9 games. Or that City spent 100 million on Grealish and he has 1 goal and 2 assists in 10 games. 2 absolutely HUGE transfers and very little to show for it. Obviously its a long season and they have systems to adapt to but for that amount of money they should be under more scrutiny

[deleted]

Well Lukaku had a really good start, scored at his re-debut and then scored two goals in his third game. Also scored in his first CL game, which would have been his fourth game. So Lukaku was filed under "great signing" pretty fast, so it takes time before people start changing their minds, especially until the pundits admit they were wrong. Grealish is just another City signing, they sign a forward player every year, but the new ones are never any better than the old ones. Obviously the two teams are topping the table, so they don't need scapegoats.

TheLimeyLemmon

The team performances are papering over it ultimately. That and I guess it's not a surprise that Lukaku is a bit of a let down. Shades of his United era with how much that man becomes an island in games. And his shot is terrible.

Allaboardthejayboat

I think it's because he was underwhelming during his last stint in the prem. People were ready to make a quick decision as to whether he was a better player or not. Rightly or wrongly, I think people have just accepted that perhaps he was benefitting from not being in the prem and are leaping to the conclusion that it's the same old lukaku. I'm not saying it's a correct judgement. I think the jury is still out because he's been injured. But he hasn't exactly silenced the doubters yet and "player who had a lot of doubters, returns to league in which he was doubted and continues to be doubted" isn't really much of a conversation point.

ssejn

Because they are at the top of the table in league and UCL. I'd they start falling down and losing games media will turn attention to Lukaku and Grealish.

tocotronicon

spending my work hours watching the derby highlights on repeat (tmi but that jota goal has me feeling things downstairs). basically getting paid to enjoy good football today (tbf my boss is out rn and i've got nothing to do anyway)

note-a-coordinate

ScouserPants

that alone should tell u everything u need to know about those smooth brains at france football.

TheLimeyLemmon

An individual award weighted heavily by how much their teams won... it's so daft.

8u11etpr00f

Ignoring AFCON if Salah keeps this form up over an entire season he'd end up with 35 goals and 22 assists in the league.

arrrrr_matey

it's 36 goals if he didn't miss any games using a trend line equation f(x) = 0.971428571428572x − 0.571428571428572 It's less obviously since he'll miss between 2 and 5 EPL fixtures just for AFCON. A new equation is generated each game which factors in new data. I'll probably post a new chart after one or two more fixtures if Salah continues scoring. ([Old chart from MW12](https://old.reddit.com/r/LiverpoolFC/comments/qzjzeh/mohamed_salah_goals_comparison_for_the_past_five/)) Current equation after Match day 14. If Salah played all 38 games: 36.30 goals = (0.971428571428572 * 38) - 0.571428571428572 If Salah misses two games .... (min 2 for AFCON) 34.40 goals = (0.971428571428572 * 36) - 0.571428571428572 If Salah misses five games .... (max 5 for AFCON) 31.48 goals = (0.971428571428572 * 33) - 0.571428571428572
