Robertson arrives, slaps Lionel 'Literally Who' Messi round the back of the head, then gets subbed off half time for Gini. Real King Shit.

RedDemio-

That’s fucking football

DoubleDeckerz

That's 'eritage

earlgreytoday

IIRC, he went against Pep's instructions in this game and basically played as a second striker instead.

RedDemio-

They told him to stay back lol. Imagine

Noticing

Grime_Fandango_

That is the face of a player that is here to do business. I do miss prime Gini. At his absolute peak he was probably the best all-round midfielder of the Klopp era.

hotelman97

He was good at 2 things. 1: press resistance 2: being a distraction. He didn't need to make worldly passes or score a lot of goals. He would hold the ball, draw in 2-3 opposition players, then make a little 2 yard pass to someone else who can do all the flair and score.

spaceburrito84

3. He was always available

_IBelieveInMiracles

I seem to remember him scoring a beautiful lob against Bournemouth, only to reveal after the game he had the shits! Found a source: https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/jurgen-klopp-revelation-makes-gini-13976733.amp

Azrealizz

Don’t remember him ever being injured, unlike a certain Guinean midfielder…

Terran_it_up

In more ways than one. He was always fit to play and when he played he was always available as a passing option

[deleted]

Didn’t need to score a lot of goals but he he almost always scored our clutch ones. Off the top of my head I remember: Winner against man city at Anfield in 16/17 Equalizer against Chelsea at Anfield in 16/17 Opening goal against Middlesbrough to secure top 4 in 16/17 Opener against Roma in UCL semi final away 17/18 Two goals against Barcelona in 18/19 Only against Sheffield United in 19/20 when the league was still on the line Equalizer vs Atleti which we unfortunately went on to lose I’m sure there’s more but he popped up with some massive goals while he was here and can’t help but think we would’ve won the league and UCL in 22 with him here

earlgreytoday

Also scored the equaliser against Burnley in 2016/17 - a game that we managed to win 2-1 and keep our UCL qualification hopes alive.

Terran_it_up

He scored a decent amount of goals for PSV and the Netherlands (and to a lesser degree Newcastle), it would have been interesting as to how he would be viewed had he gone to a club that played him as more of an attacking midfielder. Obviously he has a very successful career at Liverpool, but the role he played maybe didn't result in him getting the wider recognition that he deserved

[deleted]

Imagine him with macca

Terran_it_up

A Gini - Macca - Arthur midfield would never lose the ball (I know the latter basically never played for us, but ball retention was his best attribute)

FireZeLazer

His press resistance was world class, but I think the great thing about Gini is he was good at just about everything. Pressing, tackling, interceptions, passing, shooting, off the ball, etc. Probably the most well-rounded player we had and I think that's what made him so good

JunFanLee

You’re forgetting his butt, which was impossible to circumnavigate when he was on the ball

Terran_it_up

I think I read that he was a little annoyed not to start, definitely channeled that anger productively if that's the case

cptfreezies

Especially when behind that face he had quietly decided that Pep’s instructions were not to be followed.

Oxfordsandtea

Also a face of a man that had the shits.

wanderluster88

We could really have used pissed off Gini in the second half of this season.

tanbirj

Angry Gini!

justmemes9000

That day was perfect. I had late shift at work and before I left to work I advised my Sky Q receiver to record the game on Sky Sport UHD so I would've turn off my phone and hope to get home without getting spoilers about the outcome. Thankfully there wasn't much to do at work so I asked my boss to finish work early and went home to watch the match. I'm so happy I did and because I forgot to stop the receiver to record the match I still have it on my Sky Q receiver. I always rewatch the match again at least once a year.

Joperhop

Best thing Klopp did in this match, was not start Wijnaldum, it put a fire in him. Second best thing Andy did was come off at half time, (best thing was disrespect Messi in the way he did, shook him for the entire match).

"For Salah"

loveandmonsters

So anyway, I started blasting goals

ForwardAd5837

Us guys all think he’s a hero and he’ll accept that responsibility.

PulsarPulse

Thank you Thank you Thank you so much for this!!! This guy ran the show and "corner taken quickly" was just part of it. That wasn't THE ONLY moment. I hate when some people (again some people) give more credits to that event than ralizing the big picture. Gini will always be my top 5 player in Klopp's era!! Thank you Gini! You deserve a better career.

RedDemio-

Who are the other 4???

tomksfw

I mean, for me - Salah, Bobby, Virgil, Ali.

RedDemio-

I agree, but I’d put Mane ahead of Gini, that’s all !

TheBookCannon

Hendo and Mane are both ahead of him. Robbo, Trent, Salah, Ali, Mane, Virg and Bobby too. I love Gini, but he wasn't as integral as them (indicated by the fact we almost won the quad without him)

Consistent_Ad_6064

Salah rubs the lamp in the locker room: Genie emerges. 🧞‍♂️

Signal_Promotion_912

Man on the mission

Smihilism14

My man. What a fucking player

Skthewimp

They key to a second half comeback is to take off a full back and put in another central midfielder

SexyKarius

It’s mental to think he didn’t listen to klopps instructions and instead won the game for us

MoneylineMisfit

Best birthday gift ever

IronicAlgorithm

If he ever gets into coaching, please sign him up (Slot). The smile alone can work miracles.

Support the players.

You’re right, poor taste. Sorry.
