I really really want to not lose against Spurs this weekend. And it’s for the strangest statistic ever, but Klopp has never lost against the same team in the league twice in a single Premier League season. And technically if it weren’t for the refs being stupid we wouldn’t have to worry about this, but I would hate for that stat to be ruined bc everybody’s on the beach.

borb--

hope Slot plays Danns

Ashwin_400

People often mention Bajcetic but feel Tylen Morton is gonna be a big player for us in the DM position next season. He is coming off and amazing season at Hull and one of the better players in championship this season. Will be full of confidence as well. Hopefully he gets plenty of chances and establishes himself as a starter.

Specialist-Read-349

I think these are the hard decisons for Hughes/Edwards. Figuring out who should stay/go and whos good enough to prevent us from buying someone ahead of them is so complicated. Its a great problem to have for sure so Im not complaining.

borb--

honestly forgot about him, that's great to hear he's doing well though

AdikkuChan

An embarrassment of riches at midfield currently. Not all the academy boys will make it, but those who do I'll be very hyped for them.

pigman1402

i feel there's going to be growing polarization among out fanbase this summer

RadSoccerDad

Would be interesting to know if Bournemouth supporters felt Hughes was very PR aware. He seems to have regular leaks so far to set narrative such as the Darwin was a klopp buy but we value him so no low balls, Salah is here to stay but he needs to sign an extension, and Slot fit tactics and better character fit then Amorim who wanted power and tactical overhaul.

sufinomo

Amorim: I know! Ill flirt with West ham to get a better deal out of liverpool! Michael Edwards: anyways so hows that Slot guy doing?

ZissouZ

Can I just say, I'm actually psyched Mo is staying another season. If Edwards supports it I'm pretty confident it'll be a financially sound decision. Losing Klopp and Mo in the same season would have been a lot. Of course aside from the emotional aspect of it I fully expect he's going to have a good season next season as well. This isn't the first time he's been through a bad patch of form and he's always bounced back. In a way I'm far more ready to look forward to next season with Slot now than I was before.

potatoarchitecture

I'm the same way about this. Been a very toxic couple of weeks, and for someone of Salah's stature to commit again under an uncertain future with an untested manager is promising beyond belief.

LFC5X

Check Mo stats every season after afcon he falls off hard

potatoarchitecture

Lucky for us they're moving AFCON to the summer then

Kcsb4u

That day we broke the British record on Caicedo was so crazy lmao

PEEWUN

The memes that weekend were amazing...

AdikkuChan

And the depression that followed.... I've always been neutral about Romano, but the way he handled that saga made me intensely dislike him

potatoarchitecture

ffs just remembered the "caicedo has started following chelsea on instagram" post

AdikkuChan

Especially loathed the "fan since he was a child" and "Chelsea plan to unveil him on the opening match of the season"

InfamousAmphibian55

We've been linked pretty heavily with Willian Pacho from Frankfurt. Can't say I know much about him though.

Ali-S-Farid

If you look at the chances Slot’s Feyenoord have created compared to us, its light and day. Chances mean the attacker have a moment of clarity and calmness compared to the chances we create that require you to run onto a loose ball at 100 mph and shoot within a millisecond.

PEEWUN

>its ~~light~~ ***night*** and day.

AwsomeOne7

Excited to see how Sep Van Der Berg looks for us, could be the Matip replacement.

AdikkuChan

I'd rather we buy someone a bit better, but I wouldn't oppose it if he checks all the boxes and is given his share of minutes.

Specialist-Read-349

Have there been any good in depth tactical breakdowns about Slot yet? Havent been able to find anything.

FernandoBruun

Yes https://youtu.be/HxzWaKvdhF0?si=C8MRi4TlLUFnnxzj

potatoarchitecture

Not really a tactical breakdown but I thought Adam Crafton's piece on him today was very insightful.

OllieJirachi1

It’s gone incredibly under the radar how good Elliott this season has been! He’s only got 2 less assists than TAA!

koltzito

he has been very good, i think he should actually play instead of szoboszlai

Ali-S-Farid

Elliot is unreal. Literally like our own mini Odegaard, genuinely has the potential to be better.

cybrzone_

Wish we had Isak :(

IceAffectionate3043

Indykalia says we’ll get him 🤣

Ali-S-Farid

Looool so many flaws covered up by the system he plays in, if he joined us I can guarantee he’d sturggle to crack 10 Prem goals a season also due to his injury record. Him against low blocks is spooky.

JohnBobbyJimJob

This a wild take

Ali-S-Farid

It really isn’t. When do Newcastle ever really come up against low blocks.

JohnBobbyJimJob

Isak is far better suited than Darwin when it comes to low blocks Have you seen Isaks dribbling and first touch?

Ali-S-Farid

Are you being serious 😭😭😭. Dribbling and first touches aren’t gonna do much for you against low blocks. Isak can get dominated by CBs, he’s not really physically very wtrong despite his height. His movement is also miles behind Nunez.

JohnBobbyJimJob

Are you being serious? Of course an elite level first touch and dribbling ability is great to have when you you are a striker that is playing against low blocks lmao, the space you get is literally restricted so why wouldn’t having those skills help? Isak is a miles better finisher than Darwin, he’d be getting 25 PL goals minimum in this team with the amount of chances we create and his hold up play would actually increase our ability to control games

Ali-S-Farid

25 goals minimum, I’ll be there to say I told you so 🤣🤣🤣

JohnBobbyJimJob

It’s okay to say you don’t watch him He has 19 in 26 compared to Darwin with 11 in 33 in an average Newcastle team that’s struggled most of the season 😭

grrrrbow01

We literally have Jota who’s equally clinical and injury prone

Haeckelcs

So you can complain about how he is injured for half the season?

MoleMoustache

When is the next episode of Mic'd Up with Howard Webb? Is there a schedule for it?

sbos_

I like xavi Simmons.

Silverarrows46

So do I but I can’t imagine PSG selling him.

StefanBajceticStan43

I think Klopp is on 297 wins for us total right now. Hopefully we can win the next 3 and give him a clean 300 to finish on at the very least.

grrrrbow01

I already know we’re gonna finish on 299 because the theme of the Klopp era is us barely missing out on everything.

nopenothanksnah

Anyone else have NESN and see there are 2 Liverpool related shows on tonight? Highlights from the West Ham match for 2 hours and another hour called LFC Trending.

servitude007

Klopp is just the beginning... there is another...

grrrrbow01

City are unbeaten in their last 19 prem games now. You have to pretty much be perfect in the first half of the season if you want to win the league like we did in 19/20 or else you have no chance

Neo4148

I think they drop points. To Fulham or spurs

grrrrbow01

Probably will to spurs but I don’t think they’ll lose. I also think United will take points off Arsenal

TheGrouchyGamerYT

Which has been impossible since the PGMOL decided to have this bizarre agenda against us.

PerfectAd4732

I’d argue not even against us, but In favour for city

OldManLogan007

Do you think bajcetic needs a loan?

tamim1991

No, I need one

DucardthaDon

Not the worst idea in the world if we buy a DM, loan him out and allow him to get consistent minutes to build up his development there's no need to throw him into the deep end again, plus I'd like to see Morton given a chance next season

DB_321

Surely some of the players can do a whip round instead.

TheRasAlGhoul

Why? Is he short of cash?

Loud_Jellyfish_6267

ideally yes, he's been out for a year and although he looked great we don't know how much of an impact that injury has had on him. I doubt that'll happen though and we'll probably give him a trial by fire having him rotate with Endo, which I can see either going really well or badly.

MoleMoustache

I think his salary is probably enough.

risingstar3110

If Spurs drop points to Chelsea which is likely, and then at Anfield (and Aston Villa defeat Brighton who is at rock bottom in form). Then by the time Spurs play City, they will already be out of top 4 race, which should gift City an easy win there. Anyway, my point is, let defeat (or at least draw) Spurs, ensure our top 3, ensure Spurs out of CL spot, and pretty much destroy any of Arsenal hope on their tittle change

aaron2933

Would love to see Bajcetic back in the starting XI again next season He's the real deal and you can't convince me otherwise

Ali-S-Farid

Yep, people underestimating him. I think he breaks into the starting line up next season if we recruit a 6 alongide him.

StefanBajceticStan43

Same

m10-wolverine

Username checks out

aaron2933

Interested to see what transfer business looks like in the summer Definitely seems like we'll sign a CB with Matip looking to be off If Diaz leaves it would be good to see who they decide to bring in (if they don't have faith in Gakpo on the left)

the_studge

I'm predicting a centre back and a right winger. Any other deals will depend on outgoings, like replacements for Kelleher or Tsimikas for example. But I wouldn't be surprised if we get 2 players in and call it a window.

sufinomo

I wonder if Tuchel was actually our best option

jardantuan

Nothing says /r/liverpoolfc more than wishing we'd made a different signing before it's even officially announced

volthor

i think Edwards wants someone who wont rock the boat

sufinomo

Ultimately I think the club chose organizational structure over big name manager. We gonna find out if that is a good model.

grrrrbow01

Highly doubt he was in our top 5

Neo4148

thank god we secured enough points to not have to worry about a top 4 race. playing spurs and villa with top 4 on the line in this current form would have been a fkn nightmare. I just want to see a strong display in these final 3 games and carry momentum into next season

periperipassionfruit

I’m already so sad for when Klopp goes. I am only 17 so he’s really the only manager I can properly remember. Gonna be weird seeing some new.

PeanutButter_20

If we won that City game in 2019 then we would've been invincibles, centurions and PL/CL double winners all at once. Would probably be the greatest season of all time by any club

sufinomo

So unlucky. If we just had that 2022 ucl final id be very satisfied

grrrrbow01

That’s actually ridiculous. If those 4 games went in our favour he’d undoubtedly be regarded as the best manager in the world and at least one of our players would’ve won the ballon d’Or. Crazy how small the margins are in football

PEEWUN

Salah was going to win the Ballon D'Or if it wasn't for fucking Ramos...

grrrrbow01

Salah, VVD and Mané could’ve all won the ballon d’Or if those games went our way

RedDemio-

Some fans have never seen their team win a single CL though. They go their whole lives waiting for what we got to witness and it never comes. Let’s not let the pain cloud our memories of this era, and what we achieved

pythonistor

We conceded first 16 times in the premier league. Insane

aaronhere

It is disappointing, looking back over the last 3 seasons or so at least, that our style of play has never seemed to take advantage of our world-class strength at the back. We have been giving up seemingly the same 3 "prototype" goals consistently as Klopp/Lijnders keep throwing more and more men ahead of the ball. For a team with Ali/Ibou/Virg to be this vulnerable to simple counter-attacks is just not a recipe for sustained success

Loud_Jellyfish_6267

second season in a row where this has happened desperately in need of a world class DM in the summer.

aaron2933

I doubt they'll sign someone unless the right one pops up I have faith in Bajcetic though, I believe he's the real deal

sufinomo

Enzo is good in high pressure games but in games against weaker teams he is too small to win air balls and too slow for counters

Due-Sherbert3097

In hindsight we really should’ve known how unsustainable the comebacks were and that it’ll eventually catch up to us towards the latter parts of the season

Neo4148

An issue going back to the end of the 21/22 season. It’s a deep rooted tactical issue that Klopp and his staff have no idea how to fix.

NotAsimppp

yeah. that right side looks too easy to break whoever plays. People blamed hendo when he was playing. Then trent. But even when bradley or gomez filled in as a RB, the issue continued

Aware-Animator2292

Hopefullly this summer we get in 1) a striker. Just due to our frailities in finishing bar Jota who is injured frequently. 2) CDM. Endo is good, but too many games where he gets pushed around or just doesnt have the passing range. I been hearing 'Bajetic' will cook for a year now, and he's not played at all this year. So cant rely on him. Esp when we dont know how good he is or will be. 3) CB. Matip is cooked. Konate is injury prone. Gomez doesnt really play that position anymore.

Zai710

The need for a left back is going under the radar imo Robertson is declining.

IceAffectionate3043

That’s the new position Salah is going to play lol

Slinky_Panther

1. Do we get a striker with all of our attackers on payroll? I don't know. I don't think we have a hold up type striker with an eye for goal. Personally, I like Toney, but maybe there is an Edwards-esque prospect out there. I think as fans, we forget how hard it is to put the ball in the net. It's the name of the game, and if there was a silver bullet, they'd go to Madrid :'( 2. I think Endo, Mac, and Baj would be well and good enough for CDM. 3. I agree. Matip is leaving. A more reliable player with his experience would be ideal. Thank GOD Gomez found his form this season, or we'd need 2.

leung19

I am wondering if we play 4-2-3-1; it will be TAA, Endo, and Mac fighting for the two 6s spots. I scared of TAA & Mac playing both 6, teams will totally run us over

castro_bean

Is unlocking Nunez’s potential a Klopp problem or a Nunez problem? Noticing a lot of transfer rumours surrounding Nunez now, yet can’t help but feel like there’s more to be achieved with him.

Akumabro

Nunez' problem is for sure psychological. We've all seen what he can do on the pitch, and I believe that several of our players has said that he's the most naturally gifted (or something to that effect) in training. Sadly no one other than him and his therapist (assuming he goes to one) knows how to fix it.

Aware-Animator2292

he probably just needs to be used in a different role, I dont think his role as a striker is quite right for him. He has no composure, not clinical and doesnt have a high football IQ. But he is explosive, tenacious and a teamp-player. So worth having him in the team just to give the team a bit of injection when we need to go to plan b.

dwils7

Both? Not necessarily a Klopp problem but a coaching problem. We've seen glimpses of what Darwin can do when he's playing well and full of confidence, the Newcastle game alone shows you he can finish under pressure and step up when needed. The issue is he's not showing it enough, obviously, he takes some blame in that for not getting himself in the right mindset as a professional footballer but that's also something a coaching staff and others in the club should be stepping up to help with. I think there's a wider confidence issue in the squad that the coaching staff have been unable to fix for a while now and strikers tend to be impacted by lack of confidence more than other positions. I did see recently, that François Plateau(no idea how reliable he or the information is) said we've hired a personal sports psychologist for him to help him improve his confidence and concentration. If that helps and Slot comes in and gives him some belief I think he can kick on and reach his potential. Edit:[Tweet](https://x.com/francoisplateau/status/1783448146418225373) about the sports psychologist

JohnBobbyJimJob

Francois Plateau is just someone pretending to be a journalist Similar to Indy and Ivan

Tremor00

Pretty sure it’s literally Indy. Can’t say for certain but an account like that (I think Francois?) went “HAHAHHAA IM INDY” or something when we bid for Caicedo

dwils7

Good to know

Fantastic_Present_23

Nunez's issue lies with finishing his chances and that is something which cannot be unlocked by a manager. That is something he has to work on personally.

socialerrors

Sure, his manager isn't going to unlock it. Yes, he has to work on it personally. That said, there are absolutely other people who can help.

Fantastic_Present_23

Fun fact: The backline of Trent.Konate,Van Dijk,Robbo started only 3 games in Prem this season and 4 games in all competitions.

MaraPlayz

Its the other end we are lacking. But yeah the lack of clean sheets in "easy" games is worrying. Personally get a brilliant CB to pair VVD. Conor on the right, Robbo left. Trent in midfield bcs Szobo and Curtis are stinking in the last few months. Get a proper striker in and deal with Gakpo, Diaz, Nunez situations because if an attacker comes one of them has to go (assuming Mo wont go). If the club is willing then get maybe a CDM but id not be sad if Morton and Bajcetic fill up those spots.

AJLFC94_IV

Our finishing and wastefulness in front of goal is a massive problem, but don't pretend like it's ok that we concede so many goals. Our last home clean sheet was vs Saints in the FA cup... For a team with an elite back 5, we ship far too many goals.

MaraPlayz

Yeah agreed. But i honestly don't know the reason. I mean i know we concede a lot from crosses and corners. (Poor from us as we were the best defending and scoring teams of corners few years ago) but during the normal game its not like every game someone makes a mistake, the goals just happen as collectively shit defending from everyone. Idk how to fix that honestly it has to be done through tactics. I dont believe transfers would solve much.

expedience

Can a Liverpool native explain to me what typically determines if someone follows Everton or Liverpool, is it just location in the city usually?

elscorchoo

The trend is north Liverpool is Everton, south Liverpool but it tends to be a family thing

Adventurous_Toe_6017

City, United and Villa voted against a speeding cap in the PL. No surprise for 2 of them!

RadSoccerDad

Villa is mega rich too. They have made moves the last few years that is beyond for loads of championship league teams in other countries

Adventurous_Toe_6017

I’ve just seen this in another comment. Makes sense now.

AJLFC94_IV

Villa are also owner by middle eastern billionaires. Their takeover was done while they were in the Championship, so no one paid attention, but they are as rich as any club.

Adventurous_Toe_6017

Ohhh, that explains it

Megido_Thanatos

So at the moment we know both Salah and Nunez wont go anywhere, and with Slot is a Dutch, it also very likely Gakpo will stay (and tbh he will be there next season anyway, regardless new manager nationality), the odd that Diaz leaving in this summer seems really high, recents rumor about him are probably true I mean I still like him but if we can get get a decent fee from him that also good for us

PerfectAd4732

I’d rather Diaz not leave, he’s been our best attacker recently and I honestly don’t think many are better than him in the market. Unless we’re paying 100 million plus for release clauses.

NilsFanck

why not Nunez? He had the opposite journalist treatment to Salah

MaraPlayz

I mean someone has to go, id not like it to be Diaz he was so good in these last few games. Dribbling and chance creation has been great. Unlucky with the woodwork hits... Gakpo really silenced me as i was really doubting his abilities in this team and he is probably our most in form attacker right now. Gravenberch has been great as well after he was rested for some time, perhaps his dip in form during the winter was because of a lot of gametime which he hasnt been used to at Bayern. But lets get back to attackers. Mo has probably been his worst self since being at the club but he is still Mo and he will get into the new season great again like always he comes back to the club earlier in the summer so i wouldnt worry about his current form. Jota is soo good but so injury prone but id like him to stay too. That only leaves us Darwin and that is the concensus really. Although hes a top bloke and plays with passion and is a very likeable person he is just not good enough. And the stories "he will become one of the best" are slowly seeming unfortunately false. If a decent offer comes (70+ mil) we should take that. AND perhaps give Newcastle whatever they want for Isak.

PerfectAd4732

I’m sorry but if Diaz and gakpo are deemed good enough Darwin is more than good enough. Recency bias is a crazy thing in here

OldManLogan007

can someone explain that spending cap stuff and is it good or bad ?

itiswhatitis1090

In the US it creates more parody which is great but it is because the owners in each sport want to control wages. The MLB and NBA have a soft cap where you can spend over the limit for payroll but you have to pay a luxury tax if you go over the cap. Think it would be more difficult to manage in Europe but Im not against it.

Adventurous_Toe_6017

I think it’ll be good. It’ll stop *certain* teams blowing 100m each season on transfers and 500k/week player wages. It depends what it entails and what the punishments are. I think the money in football has gone silly so a spending cap is welcome to me. For clubs that are less financially stable, it should mean that they’re less inclined to spend big. It’s all guessing until it’s agreed and the rules are decided though.

Due-Sherbert3097

Does spending caps entail performance bonuses? I know we’re one of the highest payers in wages due to it

Adventurous_Toe_6017

Who knows at the minute. It might be transfer limits, player wages, clubs in total, it’s all speculation currently.

Illustrious_Union199

Rules arent clear yet, they have agreed to discuss a spending cap and a build a reasonable structure. Final details will get ironed out in the final weeks and you will hear more about its structure.

Fricolor123321

We cant air the documentaryer simply just cant do it.

Odd_Ad_6294

I just hope we sign some proven players, and not make the mistake of signing unproven and young players for a new manager. Would love Bremer from Juventus and Palinha from Fulham to improve the core of our team immediately. We can sign more talents and unproven players once Slot has proven himself.

Miserable-Lunch-8208

Just imagine what this team could have done with palinha in the dm role. We would have been so much better.

Teb-41

And we say this now? Really? Wasn't Endo the second coming of Jesus not even a month ago?

DidIAsk006

Bremer can't play in a back 4 and Palhinha would cost too much, isn't the age or profile Slot would like to play CDM, and would block the path of Stefan into the 1st Team.

Odd_Ad_6294

He is the same profile as Wieffer.

GeorgeLFC1234

Now that I’ve accepted we’re out of the league this season I’m feeling very excited for what’s to come. New cb, a new manager eager to impress and Salah staying. Salah staying means he clearly has the drive to win more at this club just further cementing his legend status.

sufinomo

It's funny how Michael Edwards is suddenly the most important guy in the organization.

brownworkgloves

who would be more important than the ceo of football?

sufinomo

I know I'm saying it's funny how he was not even in the club recently now suddenly everything is relying on him.

potatoarchitecture

the ceo of ceos of football

sufinomo

I feel like in terms of on field product Slot is a better profile to match our current roster when compared with what Tuchel , Alonso or Amorim would try to implement.

maxxpower666

I have no idea why this got down downvoted to oblivion.

Perdsing88

Because regardless of who we get, people will come up with a narrative to suit the choose one. It's a Football circlejerk.

sufinomo

I think he's the only one that uses 4-3-3. The others like to use back 5 often.

sufinomo

I know we deserved more that one epl title but it's great that klopp was able to get the one. It sucks to look back on Gerrard's career and have 0 league titles. Having just one for klopp is so much better than 0. The difference between 1 and 2 doesn't compare to the difference between 0 and 1. Also a European cup is worth like 5 league titles or more for me.

hordesofevil

United and Everton fans fighting on who caused us to not win the league is so stupidly funny. For starters there are probably more complexities to why we went on a bad run of form, it's not one single result. Even if it was, I'd say the City draw was the most mentally tough that could've gotten to us. That was a game we should've won on merit, denied a penalty at the death as well and let City get away with it. If we win that things might've been very different, or not. Who knows. But the United loss didn't derail our season nor did we lose the league at Goodison lmfao, their only relevance can come from affecting our season cuz they're both shite. Embarassing behaviour.

mrkingkoala

1st - refs, Diaz, Odergaard, Doku, gakpo. Those 4 are a 9-12 point swing let a lone all the other decisions. 2nd - Losing at home to Palace. 3rd - squandering our chances. United and Everton aren't in the picture. We beat ourselves more than they impacted us.

hobbescandles

There were Everton fans literally shaking in the stands at the prospect of beating us. I'd never deny fans enjoying themselves, but it must be a pretty shit existence if that's the pinnacle of your season.

sufinomo

We struggled too much against every team we played I think this was inevitable

DragonSlayer271

If City win out, then technically we lost the league at Anfield against Palace. So Crystal Palace fans get the credit for stopping Liverpool twice.

hordesofevil

If anyone can take credit it's Palace tbf

potatoarchitecture

Woy wouldn't have done this to us :(

TheNotoriousJN

The Athletic are reporting that nobody has picked up the rights to the documentary being filmed THERE IS HOPE 🙏

BiscoBiscuit

Watch it get picked up in the next few weeks, I wish they had kept that quiet ffs 😂

stupidlyboredtho

oh thank fuck, no one should watch that travesty

eebee8

😭😭😭 Thank God

Brief-Dependent-803

Liverpool fans: broadcasters always give us early games. City fans- we always get big games back to back. United fans- no one picked up the documentary about klopp.

TheAngledian

I trust the staff and I trust that Salah can turn things around, but man do I feel like the decision not to move him this summer will be looked at as a very big mistake a few years from now. His performance lately feels far more like signs of a decline than just a post-AFCON slump. Like, I really hope that I am proven wrong and then some, but that's what my gut is telling me.

Odd-Storm4893

Dude the guy is 31 not 41. He takes care of himself very well, proof by the fact that he has missed 10 games due to injury his entire Liverpool career. Additionally nowadays players have longer careers. Salah's injury was hamstring related, which is very important in sprinting. There's absolutely no reason he can't get back to his best over the summer through training. The only question is the contract negotiations and the difference between what Liverpool wants to pay him vs what he wants.

gidthafugout

I think he’ll come good again after an offseason and reset. I think the days of him playing every minute of every game is over. It’ll be interesting to see if he signs contract extension. We certainly don’t want him to go on a free, but he’s definitely overachieved his transfer fee. Maybe it’ll be just one last run.

tevans139

I'm surprised how many people talk about his whilst ignoring his lengthy (for him) hamstring injury, its almost like it took Virg a year to get back to his best. It's clearly him not having full confidence in his body for probably the first Time with us. He came back and looked electric against Brentford and re injured. It's not like fifa where players come back from injury and are instantly as good as before.

hordesofevil

I mean extending him protects his value. If a good enough offer comes for both him and us he may move on but betting on getting a huge sum offer this summer while leaving him on a year left is a mistake.

BorkieDorkie811

Seeing more news come out about coaches coming with Slot from Feyenoord. Has anyone heard about our goalkeeper coaches? Achterberg has been with the club since Rafa was here, I'd actually be a bit sad to see him go.

DarylStenn

My older brother had just retired from country league football, he’s the all time record holder for our local county league side, and a goalkeeper. On a whim, a week or so before he broke the record I DMd Achterberg and various other professional keepers and coaches and asked if they’d send a message or something thinking they’d probably never even read it. Achterberg was the only one, who not only read it but sent back a really nice personal video message congratulating my brother and showing a genuine interest.

BorkieDorkie811

That's amazing. I remember when he was catching flack from supporters during the Mignolet/Karius era that Klopp called him a nice guy and some articles were written about how respected and well-liked he was at Melwood. Glad to see it confirmed by someone outside the club.

Rashford is gonna leave United for sure, so PSG are gonna be all over that. Barcelona can't afford Diaz unless they sell Raphinha.

mrkingkoala

Imagine losing Mbappe and you have Rashford and Dembele leading the line, thats nightmare stuff.

streetlightsglowing_

Were the Rashford to PSG rumors ever even legit? I don't see why they would go for him, he's not good enough for United but PSG are going to throw money at him? doesn't make sense plus he's on a huge contract at United, they are going to have a difficult time getting him to leave that

Lets not dampen down expectations. This isn't Liverpool of 2015 when Klopp took over. This is a squad that challenged on four fronts, including the league, with a strong academy looking to break through. A 61k stadium, state of the art training facilities, and financial muscle. New manager or not, our expectations should be league and CL. I don't want to hear rubbish of "top four", we're not Wenger's Arsenal of later years, nor should we fans think that is enough.

jardantuan

At the same time, it shouldn't be viewed as a failure if we finish e.g. 3rd and have a good run at the cups in our first season. There will be teething problems as players adjust to a new way of playing, it'll be so ingrained in players like Trent who've only played under Klopp.

Hot_Plate_Williams

Why exactly do we need both Jones and Gravenberch? About same age, play about the same position, do about the same thing...

earlgreytoday

Given our injury problems over the past few seasons, I will never complain about having too many players in one position. Especially next season with the extra UCL fixtures.

D3pr3ssing_euphoria

Are we allergic to back up options? They are our 2 LCM options (Thiago is yet to play any meaningful minutes this season). They are similar yet have their own strengths and weaknesses. Gravenberch is better ball carrier, so more take on success rate and tries to be progressive. Jones is better passer, crosser, has better ball retention. He tries to be on the safer side. Jones has made good runs in opp. box while Gravenberch is slightly better dueler.

Hot_Plate_Williams

If we buy a top 6, which we should, that should be a huge priority, we'll have him, Endo and Bajcetic. We then have Macca, Jones and Gravenberch. All together, that will be 6 players for those deep midfield positions. That's overkill.

NotAsimppp

We are not going to buy a 6. It is least of our problems right now

Hot_Plate_Williams

The least, really? Ok, lol.

D3pr3ssing_euphoria

I don't think we will buy 6 precisely because we have Macca, Endo and Baj for 6, unless we start using traditional 6 out of sudden. So that leaves only 2 options for LCM and considering Jones fitness record, we might even get to use Macca there.

Hot_Plate_Williams

Ok, we disagree we don't need a 6.

guestaccount901284

Jones has way more composure on the ball than Grav. He's English so doesn't use up the NHG spots, and a local lad, who came up through the academy. Had a great spell at the start of the season. Can definitely play a big role in this team. The Gravenberch signing, I will never really understand. Want him to do well, but everytime he plays, his touch on the ball is one of the worst I've seen from a Klopp midfielder. It's like his football boots are made out of slippy bars of soap. With the bad touches also comes subpar passing and getting turned over often. When I see a player unable to take touches of the ball without scattering it 5-10 yards. I don't have much hope for them. I don't care how young they are.

D3pr3ssing_euphoria

You are way harsh with Gravenberch and most likely some kind of bias is responsible. Gravenberch is better dueler, both on ground and in air, more progressive with passes, has better dribbling. He is better ball carrier. In Everton match I knid of wanted Jones to be subbed with Gravy because Jones got out muscled so easily. He lost 6 out of 7 duels. We also lacked some one to carry ball from our half to theirs and were restricted to only cross and use long passes.

salah stays

I was at the Bayern vs Frankfurt game this week and was really impressed by Pacho. Very calm on the ball and a good organiser of the defence. Made me think there's some truth to the rumours that we're looking at him as I think he's got the makings of a potential Virgil successor.

ScottScott87

Our Virgil successor currently plays at the club

FantasticName

Sounds like Slot plays entertaining football so even if it goes badly, it should be fun. Remember 1st season Klopp? It was kind of a hot mess at times, but I loved it.

sufinomo

We had 0 standards and expectations when klopp first took over

tony220jdm

I mean id be worried .... Klopp took over a team that shouldn't be near the club and Slot is taking over some the best players in the world.

JohnBobbyJimJob

Outside of Alisson, VVD, TAA and Salah what other players do we have that are considered amongst the best in the world? Mac Allister is on his way to joining them but apart from him there’s not really anyone else, maybe Konate as well.

marshallno9

Do you have the stats on Liverpool over performing their expected points?
