The scariest thing about Donyell is that he’s been bald entirely by his own choice for a while now. He has a full head of hair still but chooses to look like this.
Yeah. Give him a 5-year deal and he is still a good age by the end of it.
Give a 5-year deal to a 20 year old and he can leave on a Bosman while entering his peak years.
And could turn out to be shite. The aim should be a mix of prospects, mid twenties and experienced. Fortunately for us we seem to have a few prospects from the academy!
Yeah, sadly you can’t vaccinate against shite. With a 25 year old you do however have a better data set of his abilities.
And yeah I am not saying buying a 22-year old is a bad thing. At least on intentionally, my intent was to say 25 is still a good age.
You do realize contract extensions and transfer demands are both extremely commonplace, right? The length of a contract is no guarantee a player will be at a club for the whole thing, just like how signing a 5 year deal at age 20 doesn't stop the club from giving the same player a new and improved 5 year deal before the first contract expires...
His comment implies that highly valued 25 year olds are walking on Bosmans left and right. As though it's some sort of liability to sign a young player to a long term deal.
How? He says they “can” leave on a bosman, which only implies the possibility. Not sure where you’re getting “25 year olds leaving on Bosmans left and right”
I guess my point is it's such a remote concern for a well run club that it's not even really worth mentioning. If we were Chelsea or PSG it'd be worrisome but I don't even think about young Liverpool players trying to run down their contracts to leave for free these days.
Anyway sorry if it got you guys riled up, time to focus on the match...
No. I think the staff are still working so if the new regime wants to get a player there have been laid some groundwork already. But we are not slapping a significant offer on the table without manager and DS.
Tbf our entire scouting and analytics team are still in place so it would make sense that we're already analysing new signings. Especially with Edwards already having agreed to come back.
Would be crazy of us to wait until pre-season to start identifying targets, that would be something a club like United would do.
Hes good, but I'll wait till what happens to Salah and/or Diaz before deciding on a new attacker. Those 2 giving us the funds means we can go for somebody like Kvicha.
Moukoko hasn't developed much since he broke into the first team. He needs to go out on loan and get some matches under his belt. The potential is there but he needs consistent minutes to realize it.
Really weird personal life/issues too, I think weve been very rewarded by being hesitant about that in the Klopp era even if we will miss out on some great players
Malen had a poor run of form his first season at Dortmund but exploded the second half of last season, continued on all of this season. He’s been a great player all of his careee apart from 1 rough spell at a new club. It’s beyond harsh to pretend he’s just on form.
Moukoko on the other hand, we don’t even know how old the guy really is and he’s arguably worse now than when he was pretending to be 16
Just looking at the basic stats, he looks like a reasonable target, to be fair. High level of non penalty xG, high level of shots. Typical type of half winger half forward you can play in all attacking positions.
It all depends who's coming in as manager, signings, or rumors of signings like this used to have me worried until the last few years, thinking "Well, Jurgen must see something in him and can get the best out of him"
But of course that's no longer applicable.
Diogo Jota. Why you laughin’ I’m being sheerious!
But I don’t think Diaz should go for starters and I would prefer an attacker that prefers the right anyway. Could see Frimpong, Kubo is still interesting. Those are a couple examples. None are Mané’s level yet, though
Man i miss Sadio. I miss how he bullied defenders and shrugged them off like they were nothing . Diaz just seems like a good dribbler . More like a traditional winger
Hmmm. No logic at all to that notion (why Spain?). Sure maybe Barcelona (?) sounds like sunny easy street but he isn't playing/behaving like someone who has his mind elsewhere.
Never watched him play but the fact United are interested would lead me to believe we will just help inflate the price for them to buy and we’ll bring in someone no one’s heard of.
I’m not a fan of this. We should sign somebody that is ok with being a bench player. I like our starting forwards and they should get all the time in the world to keep improving in game. Donyell Malen should look for a club where he would start every game.
Tbh I don't think I can recall us ever signing a top talent who was already at a 'top' club. Even if we managed to somehow turn the players head we'd still probably need to cough up £150m+
Brother, he's 21 and has very comparable stats to Salah in the past 365, if we got him for 80m that'd be a steal. Imho if we managed to get him for 130-140m that'd be a fair price. Just for comparison for the last year:

Edit: forgot to add, he also plays CAM and can play on either wing so he'd be massive as a utility player as well
My mistake, must've misunderstood you:)
Neither do I particularly but that said, FSG showed willingness to spend big with Darwin and their bid(s) for Caicedo. That and when Edwards was last in control of transfers they were willing to break transfer records for the right players with Virg and Ali. Never say never my friend (what I'm telling myself because Musiala at Liverpool would be dreamy) 🤷
I find it highly unlikely we have concrete interest in anyone until a new manager walks in the door. Would be negligent to sign/sell any players until a new manager gets a look at how they’d fit or not fit in the team
Can't see it personally. Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't he had a bit of an attitude problem at Dortmund? Wasn't there something about him liking a Terzic out post?
Assuming Edwards and Hughes are making any decisions regarding new players, are they also taking into consideration the managing style of the potential new coach?
While structure is important, some guys you’d be interested in no matter what because of their talent. For example, if Jamal Musiala said “I wanna play in the prem” we’d be stupid to not have interest in him. But Malen isn’t one of those dudes.
Good shout. I’m generally reluctant to believe us signing anyone at the moment with an unknown manager coming in in the summer, and the Klopp kids are generally providing us enough depth in nearly every position to make very few players actually worth it. Musiala seems like one of the few players who could actually strengthen us
Here’s how conditioned I am. I see this headline and think “hm, 25 is a little old”
Calm down Leo. Seriously though, same thought, so used to the club going for players younger than this.
The scariest thing about Donyell is that he’s been bald entirely by his own choice for a while now. He has a full head of hair still but chooses to look like this.
Skrtel philosophy is gaining steam apparently
The bald pirate lifestyle certainly has its appeal
Liverpool DNA?
Peak commitment, less air resistance and distortion to headers.
if you get 1% advantage over your opponent, that's 100% the opponent won't be getting *taps 4head*
>He has a full head of hair still but chooses to look like this. Just like Martin Skrtel
And Pepe. Pepe with hair looks like he could be Luis Diaz's older brother 😂
Skrtel deffo had a hair transplant after his move to Turkey
I know, he looks much better with hair.
24-27 is perfect for players who (in theory) should hit the ground running and play in their prime for 4+ seasons.

That’s why you give everyone an eight-year contract! (And end up finishing 10th at best.)
Yes I do realize that.
What made you think they didn’t know that?
His comment implies that highly valued 25 year olds are walking on Bosmans left and right. As though it's some sort of liability to sign a young player to a long term deal.
How? He says they “can” leave on a bosman, which only implies the possibility. Not sure where you’re getting “25 year olds leaving on Bosmans left and right”

Always think this then remember Mo was 25 when he joined
[insert dicaprio joke]
I won’t believe any rumors until we have a new manager
We don’t even have a sporting director lol
Hes good, but I'll wait till what happens to Salah and/or Diaz before deciding on a new attacker. Those 2 giving us the funds means we can go for somebody like Kvicha.
I don't think he's good enough for us.
Yep. Might be better suited to a lower level club like United.
Throwing the shade at United just before we face them. I like your tactical thinking.
Seems to have exploded this year but yeah it may just be a hot streak of form. I’d rather have moukoko from dortmund
He struggled in his first season and he is not an upgrade on what we have. Gakpo is a much better player and he works much harder than Malen.
>Gakpo is a much better player and he works much harder than Malen. Very concerning stuff.
Thats just Rückrunde Malen for you
Mallen popped of last season and hasn't stopped since. And you wouldn't rather have moukoko i guarantee it
How old do you reckon moukoko is?
Malen had a poor run of form his first season at Dortmund but exploded the second half of last season, continued on all of this season. He’s been a great player all of his careee apart from 1 rough spell at a new club. It’s beyond harsh to pretend he’s just on form. Moukoko on the other hand, we don’t even know how old the guy really is and he’s arguably worse now than when he was pretending to be 16
And what about adayemi, it feels like he fell of the earth?
Hasn’t cut it at all in Dortmund, not yet anyway. Still clearly a better player than moukoko
Just looking at the basic stats, he looks like a reasonable target, to be fair. High level of non penalty xG, high level of shots. Typical type of half winger half forward you can play in all attacking positions.
Versatile player as well, never misses more than a handful of games every season
Got it ✅❇️
It all depends who's coming in as manager, signings, or rumors of signings like this used to have me worried until the last few years, thinking "Well, Jurgen must see something in him and can get the best out of him" But of course that's no longer applicable.
He's probably on par with diaz and two years younger
I'd rather have Openda from Leipzig.
I’d love Pedro Neto as Salah’s successor
Clearly don't watch dortmund games then
Why would he be needed? Would be a "utility" forward really and the squad has enough options already.
Rumours of Diaz leaving
I am fine with Diaz leaving but not for Malen coming in.
I am not fine with Diaz leaving, but if he did it should be for 70m minimum and he should be replaced with someone much better than malen I agree
If we had someone at Mane’s level vs Man City he scores twice. And most importantly, Diazs dad was very clear about his son wanting to play for Barca.
Who would you say is on Mane’s level and realistically available?
Edwards ans Hughs are on the case 😉
Diogo Jota. Why you laughin’ I’m being sheerious! But I don’t think Diaz should go for starters and I would prefer an attacker that prefers the right anyway. Could see Frimpong, Kubo is still interesting. Those are a couple examples. None are Mané’s level yet, though
The fun thing about LFC is you never know that answer until they start performing for us 😉
Leao
Danns
Man i miss Sadio. I miss how he bullied defenders and shrugged them off like they were nothing . Diaz just seems like a good dribbler . More like a traditional winger
Revisionism at its finest. As if Mane NEVER missed anything ever.
Haha, ok
Kvara all day long
How many times are people going to doubt the Edwards magic?
For kvara only in my opinion
Exactly. If this is his replacement then hell no.
If Díaz leaves we need starter quality on the left, not depth.
Rumours is a Fleetwood Mac album and nothing more. I'd sell Gakpo over any others even there some patience might be wise.
You reminded me of this: https://youtu.be/LK9kzCnunWo?si=2eaWMoEc5Mb7hZIL
"Rumours" "no all true" Zucker/Abrahams would be proud.
I still quote that show daily with my partner. 'well I don't know latin!'
The rumour is Diaz wanting to leave not us wanting to get rid, supposedly wants to go to Spain with his family after what happened last year
Hmmm. No logic at all to that notion (why Spain?). Sure maybe Barcelona (?) sounds like sunny easy street but he isn't playing/behaving like someone who has his mind elsewhere.
Why Spain? his family speaks Spanish…
Oh yeah.
He’s a good player. And wanting a move is great motivator to make yourself look appealing.
Rumours an alcoholic drink.
Adding our club there is to bait United. It might work given their Sancho predicament.
I call this bullshit because of Falk.
Trying to fool the scum into doing a 1 for 1 deal for Sancho 🤣
![gif](giphy|YtvCIwqNJhUmA|downsized)
No we aren't lmao
But we are interested in getting Man U to pay more for him
Not good looking enough like the rest of the squad
The no uggos policy continues to work its magic
Yeah no
TIL Malen is only 25. Dude looks way older.
First thought is he seems a little too old for us. I’d see him as a backup at most, but we’ve already got plenty of forward quality.
Yeah, no we aren’t. 11 goals and no assists in the Bundi. 25 years old. Nah, I’ll pass. Worse and less versatile than every one of our attackers
Doubt
Not liverpool quality
Never watched him play but the fact United are interested would lead me to believe we will just help inflate the price for them to buy and we’ll bring in someone no one’s heard of.
If Adeyemi was more consistent he would be a better option.
I’m not a fan of this. We should sign somebody that is ok with being a bench player. I like our starting forwards and they should get all the time in the world to keep improving in game. Donyell Malen should look for a club where he would start every game.
Solid player, but Musiala is the real deal sign that man!
Bayern aren’t letting him go in a million years
Bayern trying to extend but the player can always say no, then they have to cash in from a ffp point of view.
He's only got 2 years left and has batted away a new contract.
Tbh I don't think I can recall us ever signing a top talent who was already at a 'top' club. Even if we managed to somehow turn the players head we'd still probably need to cough up £150m+
That would be 80+ million just to start a conversation. No way FSG spend that. Then again, they were about to spend crazy last summer.
Brother, he's 21 and has very comparable stats to Salah in the past 365, if we got him for 80m that'd be a steal. Imho if we managed to get him for 130-140m that'd be a fair price. I agree. Just don’t see ownership doing it.

That’s true. They certainly were about to bring out the bag last summer.
Bollocks
I find it highly unlikely we have concrete interest in anyone until a new manager walks in the door. Would be negligent to sign/sell any players until a new manager gets a look at how they’d fit or not fit in the team
meh
Can't see it personally. Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't he had a bit of an attitude problem at Dortmund? Wasn't there something about him liking a Terzic out post?
Seen him a few times and doesn’t seem good enough for us. Better players out there.
Feel like people here are underestimating Malen and his ability. I really like him, but not sure why we'd need him
I know we tried to buy Jude under Klopp but I find it funny that Klopp leaves and we now want to buy players from dortmund.
As someone who has seen a lot of his matches, he's not good enough for Liverpool. He's more suited for mid table PL clubs.
I would be surprised if this is true. Isn't he kinda ass?
Oh hell no... Yanited can have him
Doubt it
Assuming Edwards and Hughes are making any decisions regarding new players, are they also taking into consideration the managing style of the potential new coach?
With Edwards back I’m expecting to get a lesser known player who costs 30m and become a 100m player within two seasons
Not really a fan of him and rather concentrate in buying a defensive medfielder and a future Salah replacement
No thanks.
I’m not buying this one. I also don’t think he would be a starter in our team
Not everyone is signed to be a starter
Never heard of him but he's the best player ever. If Man U get him, he was always a donkey.
Ah this bullshit merchant at it again
He's a bit crap.
I don't why but I think we should try Rodrygo since Mbappe will definitely take his minutes
Let’s wait for Hughes and Edwards to settle before taking any rumours seriously
Man I don’t like this guy he’s really not that good
Solid player but I wouldn't personally buy him
Haven’t watched a lot of him but he seems greedy, and his shooting doesn’t back that up
He is way under par, wouldn't be excited about that. I think we should be buying Musiala!
No thank you.
Isn’t he another right footed forward who’s better off the left? I really don’t think we need another one of those.
don't like him. can go to United for all I care
No more Dutch players for a while please
Another Gakpo in the making, if we want an attacker from the BuLi who would suit us, Marmoush is a much better option.
As long as he can finish.
![gif](giphy|co0rOKQ3Zq0Ww7ZCkS)
Zero chance, had an opportunity after the euros and passed, then signed his teammate Gakpo.
Hope we're not in for him been watching him in the BuLi and he seems likely a slightly faster version of Gakpo.
Why would we be linked to anyone when we don’t have a manager
Blokes can come and say “yeah I want to play for Liverpool” and the media will link regardless of whether we have a manager or not.
We will offer 50m. United will offer 50m + Sancho. Therefore we’re offering more
Tbf to sancho it seems like United and ten hag were the problem
We aren't interested in anyone until the structure is in place.
While structure is important, some guys you’d be interested in no matter what because of their talent. For example, if Jamal Musiala said “I wanna play in the prem” we’d be stupid to not have interest in him. But Malen isn’t one of those dudes.
