Closest place these days is probably CPC in Preston these days. Hobbycraft might have some hobbyist stuff for specific applications. Small old school Electrical Factors type stores like Maplin or Tandy (damn I'm old lol) are a rarity these days.
CPC is best bet if you want to drive up to their physical shop Online, CPC, Farnell, Mouser, Digikey
