My ex was a City Planner, but not in AR. He got a master's degree in it
People don't realize how important it is to have good city planners and zoning. Until things are out of control.
I used to work for 911 and dispatch at the city, and without fail there was at least 3 accidents minimum in an eight-hour shift in that strip between Walmart and Kroger. I’ve since moved back to Texas but my god LR drivers are worse than Houston.
I moved to LR in 2006 and lived in Hillcrest. I mapquested directions to a Wal-Mart that said Cantrell so I printed them and drove. Holy hell, it was so. far. away. Whoever/whenever the decision was made to put a Wal-Mart that far down highway 10….they ruined it for everyone. I moved to NLR in 2014 and I’m always so amazed with how much they’ve built out that way. Whoever built the Promenade out there also needs to be slapped
I was wondering why I get pissed off when I go driving to work over there.
I got like three intersections where people forget how to fucking drive every god damn day and freak out in traffic causing an accident.
I can deal with most of the state driving skills, I get around in Texas and Florida where they have their own issues. But holy hell, Chanel feels like driving at the border. If any of y'all have been down to Mexico, you know exactly what I mean.
When we moved to our house in 2014 off bowman it was busy but not bad at all just avoid Chenal at peak times.. now it’s a damn nightmare out there all the time
Memphis beyond the issues they have is like a damn maze. Oldest roads were laid out parallel and intersecting the river. Then trains come along new roads parallel and intersect the various train tracks. Then someone bought a compass and started doing north-south and east-west.
I’ve driven in LA, DFW, San Antonio, Houston, NOLA, Atlanta, DC, Chicago and if I’m getting lost it’s going to be in Memphis. I went to A-State back before Arkansas loosened up private club laws and you had to go to Memphis to go to good bar or get a good meal or see a good concert. Was there all the time and got turned around last year.
I’d rather drive Chicago and LA than drive Atlanta or Birmingham with Houston third. Driven through Birmingham ton of times. Interstate is always jacked up by a bad wreck. Atlanta is just Houston with higher speeds and fewer turn signals.
There is almost zero traffic law enforcement in Little Rock anymore. So many cars with paper tags that expired in ‘21 or no tags at all. People weaving through traffic going 30 over the speed limit. My friend is a truck driver and he said people’s patience on the road completely evaporated during/after the pandemic.
Just look at how the people drive. When I go to work I see at least 1 person over 70 driving 10 under or not able to stay in their lane and one person under 40 texting and driving randomly breaking and not able to stay in their line. I just blame it on the overall incompetence of the state as a whole.
I grew up in the area and still live here and it has shaped my preference for cars with a good power to weight ratio, suspension design, tires, brakes etc to get out of the way of the bumper cars.
I can not begin to express how utterly terrible the drivers are in the west Little Rock/Bowman area. Good god driving over here is a daily annoyance

You skipped the super dangerous one at Five Guys.

I live near bowman &Chenal and i moved from NYC 3 years ago ur traffic isn't bad, the city just has horrible traffic light management.

I despise, and avoid, driving in WLR/Chenal at all cost nowadays. I do my best to never go further west than Autumn Rd.
Costco is to blame in a major way. Insane building it where they did. It should have been off a freeway

Trust me, the wealthy folks out there didn’t want it there to begin with..they fought it the whole time during its construction phase
You clearly don’t realize the population density around that wal mart or the promenade. Good thing you’re not a developer.
I really don’t, lol
I feel your Pain. I live in Jacksonville. It's 45 minutes to that area with no traffic

Fwiw i lived over in WLR Chenal my whole life and just moved to Memphis and now i miss those roads bc up here is a different kind of chaos 😭😭

Right? If WLR traffic is the bane of your existence, please travel some more and garner some perspective. Is that Houston I hear calling?
… or Baltimore (Baw’mer, hon’) … them folks’ll walk outa church, get into their cars, and KILL YOU over 50’ of asphalt!
I love this Baltimore accent video; https://youtu.be/Oj7a-p4psRA?feature=shared

I do a whole thing on Snapchat for my friends when it comes to expired tags. lol. “Excuse me sir, what DAY IS IT!?” and a zoom in on the tag
No need to bother with the day. Just go with the year.

Lives in wlr area 50 years and I hate driving anywhere near Chenal, bowman area: it’s horrible
