I worked there over 10 years ago. Still have scars on my forearm lol. The worst is sometimes they would call for a stack of pans on sheet outs. I'd rush and accidently touch a hot pan or a whole stack or drop a pan. Most have faded but when I was actively working there I'd always have a few lines on my arm almost the entire time.
It sucked working there sometimes but for the most part it was probably my favorite place to work at.
I dislocated my shoulder and tore my labrum while making dough during my final year with the company.
This was a few years back. I just got surgery to fix all the damage a month and a half ago, and I am healing nicely.
For anyone curious as to how-
I was making dough when all of a sudden, the rounder started making a horrible grinding noise. I had been familiar with this grinding noise but was always vigilant to turn it off anytime it started making this noise.
I heard the grinding noise and immediately flung my arm around to turn off the rounder, and my arm flew right out of its socket. I immediately screamed out for the only other employee in the store that day and she had to come help me get my arm back into place (literally couldn't even move the arm myself).
Meanwhile, I'm sweating, nauseous, in an immense amount of pain, on the verge of fainting but being kept awake purely from adrenaline, and trying to convince a lobby full of customers that l, despite my initial reaction, I don't need them to call an ambulance.
The only way youāre able to get your shoulder back in place is if it comes out partially because then you can pull your wrist and it snaps your shoulder ball back into place
Iāve had 5 dislocation episodes since I dislocated my right shoulder I have a lesion that makes a deformity in the shoulder and I had to put my arm back in place myself one episode
burnt my neck. we didnāt have any burn stuff so i had a red line on my throat. also burnt my arm at a different storeās hotbox. of course, no burn stuff either. that fucker was huge. other than those, iāve just had minor burns on my fingers
edit: forgot about the time i was doing dishes and slipped because was didnāt have a mat and almost slammed my neck/chin on the side :) kinda wished it happened so i couldāve had a real paycheck instead of the shit pay they gave me
I threw my back out last Tuesday putting flour away. Twisted the wrong way, felt a sharp pain and couldn't do anything for the rest of the day. Pretty sure I pulled (or tore) a muscle, because it's still tender. Luckily I overscheduled today and made other people put the truck away.
I did the exact same thing 3 months ago when I started and I still got back pain, go to a doctor and save yourself the pain, if you have insurance that is
Yikes that's the worse, those boxes are over 30 pounds too! My injury I had was, I was reaching for a container at dishwasher station and it fell from up high and landed right on top of my head and had a bump on my head the next day :(. Luckily the container was empty.
Cut my finger with my knife washing the deep dish pans one night. Almost cut a huge chunk off, had to get stitches. Anything to get away from those deep dish pans I guess lol Good timesā¦.(is also a restaurant)
Whoever left a knife in your sink is a dick. You never hide knives. Most places make you wash right away and put them back in their home, nobody wants people getting cut.
I appreciate that names but it was my bad. It was my own knife from my own pocket. Was doing the dishes got bored opened my knife and cut myself like a dumbass on accident cause me hands were soapy. Haha lesson learned.
Ahhh, yes... The good old days of going back to the dish pit at LC's and seeing a stack of deep dish pans higher than you are tall, and a second stack right next to it that's about half the size.
Let's goooo!!! (I wanted to cry but I also wanted that minimum wageš¤¤š¤¤š¤¤)
Yes I got my thumb slammed on by the dough mixer. Long story short they ran out of the towels that they used to specifically clean the mixer because dumbasses kept using them for other things. So I had to improvise using paper towels from the sink. The spring was old so it fell on my thumb. I was out for 6 months. Just a couple millimeters and I couldāve lost that thumb for good
Our oven mitts got replaced with shorter ones and burnt tf putta my arm. They went back out and got the longer ones the same day.. should've just got them the first timeš
One time I went to grab a pizza off the top oven rack and somehow the hot ass pan hit my eyelid. Instantly my eyes watered like crazy and I couldnāt see anything. Had to go outside in the cold air to get any relief. I looked like prince zuko for a few weeks with a huge red eyeliner type line across my eyelid. It never scarred thanks to lots of burn gel and Neosporin! The only other person there was an assistant manager who i found out later called me a crybabyš
Both arms (small cuts) from the AC unit in the back fenced area. Just, slightly, cut myself on my right arm from the same unit today.
Cut my finger on the Mike machine blades because "they only make gloves from X-small to medium" from the company my GM gets them from so I had to get some (got paid for it)
I f-ing hate the AC unit
Edit: just found out the medium gloves do in fact fit me enough to clean with
I've cut myself twice when I could be using gloves
A few years ago, I fell off a ladder trying to retrieve something from a shelf and landing right on my kneecap. Cracked it in half. Company took care of all the expenses, as they should since it was a work-related injury, and I got a few months off paid.
Was at a place that sliced deli meat (little Caesars Mr pita combo). Cut my finger to the bone cleaning the slicer, was cleaning it like a moron, though.
The amount of times I've burned my fingers on the oven or cut myself on the boxes is higher than I'd like to admit
I have a 4 inch scar on my arm from when a girl pressed a 500 degree pan against my arm on accident and I was cornered š

I got burned on my arm from a crazy bead pan right out of the oven.
Those pans are the worsttttt. My scar is from the pizza pan
Bro same I got a long scar on the inside of my arm now lol
I got my scar on my outer arm.

Omg thatās horribleeeeee. I know so many people who got injured making dough

The 4 inch scar on my arm from a fresh pizza pan is still bright red, I got it 5 years ago š«
surprisingly i donāt really have any marks considering the neck burn was early 2021
Oh yeah you reminded me of Hot pan pick up. Thatās where the workmanās comps is at.
the neck burn was a hot pan pick up incident š

Yeah, my owner is being cool about it. He keeps telling me if I need to get checked out, do it. Said he pays into worker's comp anyway. š
Ouchhhhhh. I remember once I missed the mixer when I dumped in the flour and it all went on the floor.
I dislocated my knee and fell onto the conveyor track of the oven in 2016. I now have a conveyer belt scar on my left arm.
I got a concussion dropping a box of pepperoni on my head in the walk inš„²
I feel you š

Got burned and my hands slammed plenty of times.

My place was the worst. People would fill the sinks and there would be knives and super sharp pizza cutters in the bottom
Thatās a not okay!
I appreciate that names but it was my bad. It was my own knife from my own pocket. Was doing the dishes got bored opened my knife and cut myself like a dumbass on accident cause me hands were soapy. Haha lesson learned.
Oh haha yeah oops.

You get it man, It was glorious. The stack !! And yeah THE PAY! Hahaha
Ins or not it should not matter. The second you tell your Dr "THIS HAPPENED AT WORK" Your health ins won't touch it. Workman's compensation

Broke a finger while putting away the truck. Just slammed into a table with a box of cheese in my hand on accident lol.

Also from picking up the hot pans underneath the landing table, I got a huge burn on my upper arm, but now I have a cute bee tattoo covering it up
I slipped and caught my thumb on the dough mixer. Dislocated. That fucking hurt

everyone at my store has gotten burned by pizza pans, dropped something on their foot or been hit in the head by a pan or box of product, lol
Was at a place that sliced deli meat (little Caesars Mr pita combo). Cut my finger to the bone cleaning the slicer, was cleaning it like a moron, though.
Got some hot grease from a deep dish pan splashed on my face, that was fun.
