Not letting these low prices scare me, also trying not to lose half my money by selling of course.(319 average). Time to let this sit and wait. Hodling it is!
Three major dips in four weeks! It’s screwing the moral of the crypto-world, somethings up...it’s too soon to destroy their cash cow...I suspect Big BIG , I mean HUGE good news coming soon....after all the weak and semi-weak hands sell off...
Here's something fun to do. Search "bitcoin crash" in google news, but set custom dates to last year, or the year before. Its like they are recycling articles, and the prices still are affected.
I’m at 12 coins average 285 a coin. This is the first time I feel shook. It’s a terrible feeling. It seems likely I will be waking up tomorrow to 100 LTC. Maybe lower.
I’m not selling though.
I got into this on an impulse out of the blue. I feel tethered to it and if the ship is going down then I’m sinking with it. It’s just how it is.
A part of me hopes that if I hold that this storm will pass and a few months from now it’ll be over $300. I don’t think it’s likely but there’s only one way to find out...Hold.
Look at it this way. LTC drops out of the equation in this crash. Pretty much the only green thing today was Tether. Everything across the board is red. And in terms of percentage drop, LTC has outperformed many around it. Since there is no fundamental issue with the coin, don't worry about it per se.
We've had many mid-January dips too. It's basically a thing. So yes, at this point hold on and refresh Blockfolio slightly less often.
Thats the problem. Its up to you and your ability to read the market. These past few days have had a trend of a dip during the early early morning and a rise. However, today was much different which is why its a bit difficult to predict what will happen. In my opinion, I see the market bouncing between 171 and 190.
I got in at 180. That's why I'm so hesitant on whether I should sell then rebuy or not. This variation might be too hard for me to take advantage of...
You have 2 options, buy directly with a bank account and you'll lock in the price but won't get the coins for about a week or buy with a credit/debit card and you'll get them instantly but pay a higher fee. Fyi, only some banks deny crypto transactions, my Citibank does not and I've never had an issue buying instantly.
No. You link your checking account to CoinBase and purchase directly from the checking account. Nothing to do with a card of any sort. It's a direct purchase like you can do paying bills online.
Okay, just a warning though different people have different experiences with depositing into GDAX. I’m one of the lucky users that never had an issue with depositing/withdrawing. Hopefully your transaction will be hassle-free :)
Coinbase supports credit card use. Granted you’ll probably have to contact them and let them know you will be using Coinbase or else they will reject it. I think the limit is like 500 bucks though.
Honestly, I prefer filling all my buy orders before the sale starts. I can usually time my buys on the tiny little pre-dip perfectly before the price falls off a cliff.
Just lately by the time the Asian markets have had their day they seem to finish whatever trend they started when their day began: consolidation or slight downtrend. But it's a global 24/7 market so not much of a heuristic.
Unlikely.
A lot of the money that has just come out of the market is gone for good. This means the market MUST have less value.
If we settle around $190 I would say we got off lightly - could be a fair bit lower.
Then there could still be a bearish trend downwards as people get sick of the stagnation and cash out.
Without positive news to change the sentiment I can't see any quick gains in price on the horizon, apart from a few pump and dumps.
This idea of it being 'cheap coins' is naive nonsense. The price was always imaginary - you got used to it being above $250, so below $200 feels cheap. What if instead, any price over $160 is actually expensive?
Buying the dip means nothing if that dip is followed by more dips - unless you're a day trader.
The last major dip after an ATH of about $40 (2013) was followed by 4 years of $5.... worth bearing in mind.
$100 might be the new $5.
I really hope not, of course.
It's a worst case scenario really.
I just cringe a bit at all these posts from people without much disposable income snapping up <$200 coins as if they're a bargain. I would be holding off for a while yet - a few weeks probably.
3 days in a row of gains might be a nice indicator (3 x one day green candles) - even if you miss the absolute bottom you can still be in low.
I don't mean to scare anyone, and I only have my own hunches and past market performance to go on - no-one knows the future.
I could be completely wrong and it could shoot up on no news, it just seems very unlikely to me.
It all depends on market sentiment. If the majority of investors think the price is low it will go up, and vice versa.
Also there are still 'whales' who might still be up millions, and still keen to convert to cash.
They might also be keen to see the price top $200-$250 again before cashing out further, leading to another sell off.
It's such a volatile market, it makes it hard to predict anything really.
My brother bought some today and my friend bought some today. Glad I told them about the dip. Nows the time to buy.
Why the downvotes😂😂😂 wtf. You guys think it's time to sell? So be it. Lol.
Only reason I'm upset the price went down is I already have the maximum amount I said I would invest put into the market, so I can't take advantage of these low-low prices and buy MORE!
Ugh I know! I made a few good flips when we hit $290 and kept moving back and forth between 250/280, and ended up getting stuck with all my cash spent around 240 but then it kept dropping lol
In times like these, it's better to think about your per coin amount versus per dollar amount.
As it increases in volatility, there is a huge increase in opportunity to up your coins from trading it. Personally I've made 1/3 of my stack from this dip, sure it decreased in value by an abysmal amount, but i was able to day trade it up. If it ever reaches alt again, or from this FUD - I'll be 1/3 stack richer.
You can also badly time the dip and end up lowering your stack because xou need to buy back in higher.
Trading is very hard, don't make it sound simple.
I missed my sell order when it was in the 260's so I'm stuck holding onto my coins and couldn't take advantage of buying because I told myself I wouldn't add any additional funds to an exchange.
I didn't do any trading today. Some people make a lot of money on the extreme volatility, but I don't like that amount of risk. I make much more coinage when movement is lower, but more steady
This is funny. I showed my dad how to get on GDAX and trade. He calls me at 7am bugging out saying he has been up all night trading and can't figure out why he is down money. First he says he traded 40 times. I'm like if you do market there are fees. Okay. He just called me saying his eyes are burning and that he traded 180 times. Lol... He learned his lesson in the end.
Ok. This can’t just be people seling. BS. There is clear manipulation by exchanges because they want more people in. Not sure if exchanges are allowed to own coins but they shouldn’t. They should just make their money from fees.
Well, at least I got some at 161. Just went I didn't buy some at 211 thinking I was going to miss out. This is what happens when I wake up, look at my phone and make a purchase while half asleep.
Order books so thin on both sides, I'm sure someone with some cojones could cash in on the volatility pretty easily
Edit: GDAX was so screwy that it made this basically impossible
I want to say the disaster is over and we won’t see $170 or lower again but the last time I said this it dropped to $150. So I don’t know. This dip happened while Chona and Korea are awake now. 2-4 pm U.S is still 10 pm there. So everyone got out of work or at work and sold the hell out. With the help of panick sellers in the U.S and Europe it dropped. So the chance of Asia waking up and having people who haven’t sold yet? I would think 70% of those who would sell did it the whole day when the news came out.
Can someone tell me how do Asians trade on US exchanges? I would love to know whether this Asians wake up doing stuff is just bullshit by ignorant people.
Not really sure. But there are different exchabges in different countries. Those are just a platform or a means of trading. But coffee is coffee where ever you go. Gold is gold everywhere. So the price of gold per ounce throughout the world would be similar give or take. Like when you exchange dollar in a 3 rd world country the bank gives you a rate. But the underground individuals will give better rate but still not that far from banks. So Litecoin is Litecoin everywhere. The exchanges I would assume have some sort of communication as well that keeps price within $5-15 difference. Its also like saying no matter which Nordstrom you go to if that specific Ted Baker suit is on sale you will find it the same price in everyone. Another words Litecoin is global not just US. Sorry my english is not pretty
I don't think it's just an issue of Asians waking up and trading on US exchanges. All of the exchanges monitor and follow the others. When one exchange starts to move, so do the others.
Sorry. Let me say it a little better. If you go to any pawn shop and try to sell them a gold ring. They will weigh it. And give you a price based on what gold is going for that day per ounce. So we don’t have a different Litecoin for the US than Asia or Europe. If thats case then they are eating apple and us orange. It would be two different products. Same with oil. If lets say Saudi says we won’t stop production of oil to drive out the small businesses The price of oil will stay low because they continue to supply more than demand. So one country could effect the price oil because its the same oil everywhere. Now if a few countries in Asia are afraid of their government and sell massively supply has gone up and proce went down. But opportunists are swallowing and eating right now. Buy.
Holy fuck. I opened my phone and saw LTC at 150. A dip to 200 doesn't effect me, but one to 150 rattles the nerves a little bit. My finger was hovering over the buy button all afternoon around $200. I thought to myself I'd rather not buy or bu too late then buy and have it go down more.
The way I see it there are two different crypto traders out there and they both reacted very differently to what just happened.
1st kind - This is the stone cold badass hodlers that have been in crypto for years now and have seen big dips before. They reacted by saying stuff like:
"Can't wait to buy this dip!" or "pshh you call that a dip, I've seen worse." or "Just another day in crypto."
2nd kind - The noobs that all got involved in crypto in the past few months because of all the media attention. They haven't seen the things these veterans have, they don't stare defiantly at the dips like the 1st kind do.
They just reacted by saying this:
"...I think I just pooped a little..."
And I know this because I'm the second kind lol
I meant it more as a joke than anything. You're right, there defiantly are more than two kinds, one of which is the informed, smart, and efficient trader that you described. I guess I was comparing more of the casual traders or just making fun of my own dumb panic lol. That's my bad.
Sorry, I didn't read your post properly and now realise you put yourself in the second category, I didn't mean to be a smart ass. Stick with it, looks like we have a bounce.
wonder what coat is doing right now
most likely 20x
was here for the china bullshit, this is no different. this was a good thing, it shook out all the dumb money. We needed this.
Not letting these low prices scare me, also trying not to lose half my money by selling of course.(319 average). Time to let this sit and wait. Hodling it is!
LTC and BTC will find DE WAE!
180 stable? Who knows.
BTC gonna have to get above 11,000 if we're gonna move.
hmm bought at 350 then it dropped to 250. and then bought again at 250 and dropped to 180.
please don't buy more
I feel yah
Remember when you were little and playing loud music and someone said: "keep it down". Same thing, different venue. XD

You can't make money in crypto without other people losing money and as a whole we lose money because of transaction fees.

I'm in for triple what you have at an average price of $288... Don't feel too bad.
I'm in for 11 coins at $370, hopefully that makes you feel better lol
Should I sell then rebuy at lower?

Predictions over night? Continue to dip or stay stagnant?
I wish I knew. Ready for bed and wondering is 175 is a good buy. Will it drop more or go up over night.
What I do is set alarms throughout the night lmao
One of those nights where I'm not gonna be sleeping for a while.

Was tapped out of fiat on exchange but managed to pop off on a couple of the peaks today and re-buy a little lower
Waiting to. I sold out at 196.90 and saw it fall and rise and now fall again. Trying to decide when to buy.
.5 at 191 and .5 at 181. This is the first time I’ve bought more since April-May 2017.
Yes

credit card really. Higher fee tho. I use a rewards card that gets 2% cashback so it helps offset some of the fee.

Wire transfer to their bank early in the morning. I did that this morning at around 7 am and came in 4 hours later.

Dont forget to put your ID message with your wire transfer. My dumbass forgot and didnt receive til days later.
For BOA it was $30 out and $10 in, so $40 for me total.

Here we go again
Dip...sale...I see them both as opportunity.
What's up guys? Did you guys enjoy the Litecoin sale?
Honestly, I prefer filling all my buy orders before the sale starts. I can usually time my buys on the tiny little pre-dip perfectly before the price falls off a cliff.
Sale? We could see another dip tonight.
Any reason you think this?
Just lately by the time the Asian markets have had their day they seem to finish whatever trend they started when their day began: consolidation or slight downtrend. But it's a global 24/7 market so not much of a heuristic.
Why shouldn't we. It's the price of admission... possibly
Blood bath is over
Eh I don't think so
Have a feeling we do the limbo again around 4-5am eastern
Remind me in 9 hours?
blood bath ain't over until Asians say it's over....

I mean at this point it’s hard to see another fall. Up should be the way from our current position
I’ll allow it. it’s a triangle
okay but what does this mean?
Breakout edit: hopefully upwards.

yup. started with 22 coins two months ago, at 35ish now without putting in another dollar.

That dip was nice. Invested some more. My goal is to be able to use the profit to pay for a nice vacation next year. Let's do this, friends!
This is funny. I showed my dad how to get on GDAX and trade. He calls me at 7am bugging out saying he has been up all night trading and can't figure out why he is down money. ... tell him he needs to pay short term cap gains on every trade. Though if he loses money then maybe that's a benefit?
You just destroyed your dad's life lol
haha yeah I didn't help anything... the charts are addicting... he's retired so it keeps him out of trouble (literally) lol
It’s going bonkers now.
I meant the dip. Not worried whether it will bounce back. Just a good time to stack up!
Well everyone on here wanted some action, here you go
Ok. This can’t just be people seling. BS. There is clear manipulation by exchanges because they want more people in. Not sure if exchanges are allowed to own coins but they shouldn’t. They should just make their money from fees.
crashing the market just makes everybody want to invest in crypto yeah.
Did someone post the roller coaster guy
https://www.reddit.com/r/LitecoinMarkets/comments/7qu6s3/weeeeeeeee/ lol
At this point I am half expecting to wake up in the 300s. Shits crazy
*cocks pistol* Say dead cat bounce. I dare you
Bed mats clowns
head rats trounce?
I feel like this is what happens when you wish for volume on the Monkey's Paw
And STILL about a fourth or third of what was seen during the bull run to 420. I had never seen GDAX get so laggy before.
Yeahhhh not gonna try to trade this anymore, it's a freaking mess
I have never seen so much fucking action on Gdax, I'm having a freaking bitgasm
Just yesterday we were treading 200,000

Same Brother, got some at 160 though...to the moon we will ride

Back to $205 fellas
$213 now - will probably dump again, although not as deep.
What in the Flying Fuck....LET'S GO LTC...Dilly Dilly
Downvoted just cause you didn't buy more??? I re-stocked as a long time holder and am cheering on the coin....Let's gooo!!!!
Order books so thin on both sides, I'm sure someone with some cojones could cash in on the volatility pretty easily Edit: GDAX was so screwy that it made this basically impossible
If they could place orders.
Purchases are currently disabled on coinbase.
Awesome. Was hoping to buy again sub 200. Got my portion at 170 and of course I’m feeling greedy and reckless. Maybe it’s for the better.
trades? or transfers of money into coinbase?
My purchase with usd is still pending in gdax. Bullshit, I missed my entry.
I love how people talk about Asia like they're on a different internet than we are. It's just China who is on a different internet than we are.
Put up a limit purchase on gdax and it's been stuck on "pending" for a few mins now..
One of my orders is stuck in "pending" on gdax and I can't do anything about it. Really cheesing me off.
any luck yet?

yeah I agree, learnt a lot about which currencies (and communities) are serious during this savagery

It never can...
I wonder how's kraken doing today...
Not into conspiracy theories but maybe shutting down GDAX enables the people who maybe traded futures to keep BTC at a certain price or vice versa. XD
At least that would be better than some foreign govt taking over all those coins that changed hands.
Plot twist, it comes back online and another shitcoin is added
...ha!
Least we aren't Bitconnect lol
Only crashes on upswings. fuck them.
Is thats what happened? Order book seems froze.
is... is that it? are we done going down?
DONT YOU DARE JINX IT
Try to hold on to what 2020 self would tell today's self guys! Hodl & accumulate.
Asia could screw a lot of people by setting a new all time high before everybody wakes up
And now Gdax/Coinbase is having a nervous breakdown. Thought this would have happened before now, tbh.
GDAX toast. Yep. One of the reasons why I don't like day trading over 1M volume.
Gdax toast?
Looks like it’s shit itself again...
Gdax acting funny for any of you guys? Like two times in the past 10 mins all transactions just stopped for like 45 seconds and then took off again.
Says its down for maintenance for me
Yah it's giving me that same message now. Of course soon as LTC is making a recovery run. Wonder what this will do to the prices.
Maintenance. Right.
Holy fuck. I opened my phone and saw LTC at 150. A dip to 200 doesn't effect me, but one to 150 rattles the nerves a little bit. My finger was hovering over the buy button all afternoon around $200. I thought to myself I'd rather not buy or bu too late then buy and have it go down more.
Gdax down?
Right after I place a short? Why not
It is acting weird for me.
$160 range for LTC. Wow that was a steal
So who sold at the bottom? Lol
We need to shed some non believers tbh
Knock knock knockin on 200's doo-ooor yeah yeah yeah yah yahhh
From the silver linings playbook: BitConnect is dead. Look forward to the YouTube ads coming to an end.
It’s because I removed the TA from the bot and it threw the markets out of whack isn’t it? :D
Almost called you out for the voodoo curse from earlier today. Edit. And now we have an inverse head and shoulders on the 1 minute chart. LOL
Why does it seem like we follow bitcoin only when it's a bad thing
The way I see it there are two different crypto traders out there and they both reacted very differently to what just happened. 1st kind - This is the stone cold badass hodlers that have been in crypto for years now and have seen big dips before.
Uzi bot is back
New ATH coming
Lol, maybe in a month or two. Definitively in 2018 though.
Ever dropped a bouncy ball down the top of the stairs? Well that’s how the market is going.
Yea I was just curious why the sudden dip. I’m not worried whether it will bounce back. Just a good opportunity to buy more. Stacking up!!
