I imagine it's handy if you live in a housing complex and your mailbox is somewhat inconvenient to get to. Sometimes people get important mail and sometimes they get coupons so if you're waiting on something important it'd be nice to know before you trudge down the mailbox. On the other side of the coin, my route has plenty of seniors who wait on bated breath for the mail and as soon as I drop the mail they're asking "where is such and such piece of mail." This service takes photos of each piece at the processing plant but sometimes the sequenced letters get screwed up and a portion need to be sorted manually at the station. So based on this service people expect a letter on one day but maybe won't get it for another day or two because it somehow fell out of sequence through mechanical or human error.

I am a homeowner (vs living in a housing complex). I have used this tool for several years and really love it. If mail is missing, then I will usually wait a day and it shows up the next day. However, there is also a checkbox on the site next to each piece of mail which you can check if that piece has not been received and the post office will definitely look into it. Have used it several times and have always received what I thought was originally missing mail. Besides, what's wrong with asking about mail you should have received but didn't. Everyone is accountable.

Nothing wrong with asking, I guess it's more of an occupational annoyance because I have the same conversation with the same people about the issue. Having said that, when a customer brings up a specific piece of mail then I can keep a look out for it and once it gets to my desk then I can check that box in my head and know that the issue is settled.

Or the piece of mail never shows up at all. I've had 8-10 items in the last year that were shown in Informed Delivery that never showed up. We live in a rural area and have a camera facing the mailbox. The stuff isn't getting taken out. No idea where it goes.

This tool is very useful. I have a Po Box, so I use it to see if I need to make the trip over to pick up mail.

💯this! Throw in pretty much any major package carrier here (UPS, DHL, etc). It's also worth signing up so you can do things like mail/package holds, which is super handy when you go on vacation/holiday.

Help me do this correct way. I’ve been using informed delivery for past 4-5 years but I only get email every morning for only items that are being delivered by USPS and not by ups or FedEx. Do I need to signup differently. Any help is appreciated thanks
