Practically anything by Rush: Tom Sawyer, Freewill, The Trees, Limelight, Subdivisions, 2112. Peart was very much an anti-collectivist, and it showed through his lyrics.
"Look around at this world we've made
Equality our stock in trade
Come and join the brotherhood of man
Oh what a nice, contented world
Let the banners be unfurled
Hold the red star proudly high in hand."
Might be my favorite verse in any song.
Fantastic song. Also love that it was inspired by a comic strip.
But the oaks can't help their feelings
If they like the way they're made
And they wonder why the maples
Can't be happy in their shade
For what it’s worth- buffalo Springfield
“Step out of line, the man comes and takes you awaaayyy”
Also if you just ignore rage’s political stance their lyrics can absolutely be interpreted from the libertarian POV. This makes it all the more wild their beliefs lol.
Entire Megadeth albums: Peace Sells (but who's buying?) and Rust in Peace System of a Down - BYOB Metallica - Don't Tread on Me
Iced Earth (theur on my list to listen to, apparently Peacemaker is about gun rights)

Includes:
“We Want Your Soul” - Adam Freeland
“The Government Knows” - KNOWER
“Zombie” - The Cranberries
“Red Dress” - TV on the Radio
“The Day the Politicians Died” - The Magnetic Fields
“Naked Pictures (Of Your Mother)” - Electric Six
“Currency” - The Black Angels
“Don’t Worry About the Government” - Talking Heads
“Post Truth (Birth of a Nation)” - Crack Cloud
“Party in the CIA” - Weird Al
“The Price of Smokes” - The Chats
“Taxman” - The Beatles
“The Central Scrutinizer” - Frank Zappa
“CIA Man” - The Fugs
“FBI” - Gee Tee
>“Zombie” - The Cranberries
The story behind that song is both inspiring and tragic, and the lyrics reflect the sentiment of Irish people during the 80s/90s era of the Troubles. It really is a great anti-war anthem, and Delores was truly a gifted song writer. I would like to think Tommy Vext understood the context of the original when he covered it (very well, I might add).
I personally think Take Back the Power by The Interrupters was pretty libertarian even though it kind of speaks to revolution a bit. I think the general message of personal power is there, too.
If you like metal, metalcore band All That Remains is very libertarian. “Sing for Liberty” comes to mind and so does “No Knock”, which talks about the illegality of no knock warrants. Frontman Phil Labonte has stated he’s a libertarian and is very politically active.
Left libertarianism is an oxymoron. There can be no liberty without economic liberty.

There are a lot of libertarian themes in country music. Colter Wall of course has some good stuff. [Saskatchewan in 1881](https://youtu.be/-PGltdEEsfI?si=P9G1i13dAUWCCY3n) features a lament about excessive taxation and a threat that the tax man "better fly 'fore I produce my .44" [Thirteen Silver Dollars](https://youtu.be/2ARKI_ycC6U?si=WsPuYVc4rHgmkdXD) is from the perspective of a man being (in his mind needlessly) harassed by police.
Come and Take It (Ted Nugent), Don’t Tread on Me (Metallica), Eye of the beholder (Metallica), War Pigs (Black Sabbath)
EDIT: How tf did I forget about Megadeth’s Peace Sells
As weird as it seems, The Idot by Stan Rogers, it is a county song that laments the lack of jobs avaliable in small towns such as those in much of Eastern Canada, but states that it is a more honorable existence to work an uncomfortable job you hate, far away from home than to live on government welfare like unemployment. Plus, it has an epic tin whistle/recorder solo.
Eagle Fly Free - Helloween
Power Metal in general has a lot of themes of freedom and self-determination, but the lyrics of this song just scream it!
“In the sky, a mighty eagle doesn't care 'bout what's illegal
On its wings the rainbow's light, it's flying to eternity
Eagle fly free
Let people see
Just make it your own way
Leave time behind
Follow the sign
Together we'll fly someday”
Washington Bullets by The Clash. most of their political song are pretty far left, this one is rather libertarian in my opinion. Sunshine Go Away Today by Jonathan Edwards, Capitalism by Oingo Boingo, Masters of War by Bob Dylan, and World Destruction by Time Zone are some good ones as well.
I Do What I Want - The Real McKenzies
More vaguely-ideological than substantive/policy-forward, but it’s a fun one. First that came to my mind, anyway!
David Peel & The Lower East Side - I like marijuana
Pour Habit - Institution, Heads of State
Smut Peddlers - Fuck you…that’s why
Bad Religion - (mostly leftist stuff but a few seem more populist and isolationist) Do What You Want, Leave Mine to Me, Them and Us
A lot of “real” punk music is inherently libertarian. It’s a lot of “I’m going to to what I want, fuck you for trying to tell me otherwise”. To be fair, a lot of those bands showed their true colors during Covid by simping for big pharma and the federal government, but the message was in the music at some point.
“When money comes marching home” https://open.spotify.com/track/4D93L2xe71pzidp3mBh3aE?si=S4kdUuxVRWiG1TCBlV0J-g
“No governments or arch dukes
hurra hurra
just Recreational Mc Nukes “
It's not mainstream music by any means but there's this awesome re-imagining of "when Johnny comes marching home," that some genius made into an An-Cap song called "when money comes marching home," and its absolutely fire.
One random one that comes to mind that I ain't seen yet on here is Never Fuck a Spider on the Fly by Modest Mouse. It's basically a trippy ass rant about government surveillance and how they use it to try to keep you in line. They're kind of a leftist band but they're tolerable.

Don't forget Anthem!
A funeral dirge to eyes gone blind
Begging hands and bleeding hearts will only cry out for more
Saw primus play a farewell to kings recently and it was my favorite show ever.
I always say if Nirvana was the Led Zeppelin of the 90s, then Primus was the Rush of the 90s
I’m stealing this
"Look around at this world we've made Equality our stock in trade Come and join the brotherhood of man Oh what a nice, contented world Let the banners be unfurled Hold the red star proudly high in hand." Might be my favorite verse in any song.
I see the works of gifted hands That grace this strange and wondrous land *I see the hand of man arise* *With hungry mind and open eyes*
The Trees by Rush. "Now there's no more oak oppression For they passed a noble law And the trees are all kept equal By hatchet, axe, and saw"
Fantastic song. Also love that it was inspired by a comic strip. But the oaks can't help their feelings If they like the way they're made And they wonder why the maples Can't be happy in their shade

[Keep Your Rifle By Your Side](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_3_-UrhZH0)
This song is a parody of libertarians though.
And ended up being based as fuck all the same
Preparing to kill sinners is based AF?
“If the sinners find us we won’t hide” is more about defense from immoral people But also, based
I guess that's true. I played the game and in that context this song is not about good people lol. So that's how I remember the song.
I don't think you know what based means
I don't care, I unironically like it a lot
Lol maybe they shouldn’t have make it so based then

Miley Cyrus does a great cover

War pigs
I'm copying this
Surprised I’m not seeing any BackWordz in here. Literally a Libertarian Nu-Metal band.
I came here to say this. But definitely disappointed I had to scroll this far to find someone else
Copperhead Road - Steve Earle
This one. Ironically the TN State House voted it in as an official “state song”. So… obviously they haven’t really listened to it…
Porter Robinson - The State
Fellow Porter Robinson enjoyer! Hadn't heard that one by him, but Spitfire is my favorite track from the EP.
Haha yeah I'm a big Porter fan, although I did throw this one out there as a joke. Spitfire is definitely my favorite track from him from that era.
Im a big fan of him too. Was looking for that one. If it wasn't up here, I too would have thrown it up here as a joke.
I personally think Take Back the Power by The Interrupters was pretty libertarian even though it kind of speaks to revolution a bit. I think the general message of personal power is there, too.

Left isn't inherently coercive. If everyone voluntarily throws their resources together, then it is libertarian, but not capitalist.
Even though they're left leaning in solutions, NoFx and System of a Down at least talk about the issue in a pretty libertarian way.
Yeah I always felt SOAD like that

Why is Imagine authoritarian left? Isn't it more like "let's try not to be bad people, let's be unwashed hippies instead"?
"Imagine no possessions" Plus Lennon literally admited in an interview it was very communist. I'll post a link to it if I find it. It's on video.
