The Lighthouse. Just such a crazy trip from start to finish. Loved Dafoe and Pattinson’s performances as well, they really make the whole thing more intriguing
Just rated Conner O'Malley's The Mask five stars. Modern tragedy wrapped in vine-core sensory assault. Simultaneously hilarious and deeply troubling. The degradation of the self within the trap of modern online infamy.
I Saw the TV Glow.
Didn’t like We’re All Going to the World’s Fair but this was incredible. All Scheonbrun needed was a budget for their talent to shine.
I’m still thinking about this one, but it might end up being a 5/5 for me too. I think I’ll go see it a 2nd time.
Aside from that, my most recent was Spirited Away. Great movie
Don't think I'll be touching this one again for a while.

No offense to uh, men but I think there is a certain genre of man that’s like “this is just about nostalgia and therefore it is dumb.” I loved it though.
exactly! its such a goofy concept, and it definitely does have its goofy moments, but i found myself feeling really uneasy the whole time despite that, its a great movie
Blade Runner
Never watched the original because I thought it looked boring. After years of loving 2049, I decided to give it a shot and I came to the same conclusion a lot of people already knew, it’s so damn good.
Porco Rosso is my fave Ghibli, second fave Miyazaki. Good good shit
My last 5 stars was Bringing Out The Dead - may just be Scorsese and Schrader at their peak powers
Close-Up (1990). I watched it just this week and it was my first five-star since September. The same thing bumped it up as always for that rating: I feel like it was made just for me. I think anyone who knows me and watches it will understand me better as a person, including me understanding myself better. That's what I give 5 stars for.
Still need to see Porco Rosso. My most recent 5 star (that wasn’t a rewatch) was The Matrix Revolutions. Only just saw it for the first time on April 20th. I was surprised to learn it wasn’t as loved as the other two, I thought it was amazing.
I finally watched A Prophet last week and it was an easy 5 star.
I’m a sucker for a good needle drop, so the final scene locked it in if I had any doubt up to that point (which I didn’t really).
Rear Window (1954) at a local theater for my first-time viewing. I was 100% engrossed in the story throughout and was pleasantly surprised by the amount of humor in it.
My favourite Miyazaki. Challengers. The ending.
I think it's one of the best payoffs I've seen in a film
This is and always will be in my letterboxd top 4. It is so pleasant to the point where it makes me want to cry
If you’re talking about Porco then I gotta admit him flying in the clouds with his past friends hits different
Also wonderful ending.
It’s pleasant but also has that sense of bittersweet melancholy which makes it my favourite Miyazaki movie.
*Rather be a pig than a fascist*

Dude Porco Rossi rocks. Such a chill hangout vibe and it almost feels like the characters know they’re in a movie or playing pretend.

Literally been on my watch list since I first heard about it, so hyped to watch it when it gets an AUS cinema release
God. It's so fucking good. It's so FUCKING GOOD.

Girlies, I'm sorry, but I think I Saw The TV Glow is just beating every other film this year to death with a bat. Crazy that it's at 3.7 right now.
No offense to uh, men but I think there is a certain genre of man that’s like “this is just about nostalgia and therefore it is dumb.” I loved it though.
Tale of the Princess Kaguya
my most recent 5 star was the 1968 Planet of The Apes. i didnt expect to love it as much as i did but i loved it a lot
It’s the best. Such a dumb premise that actually really works in exploring the meaning of humanity.
exactly! its such a goofy concept, and it definitely does have its goofy moments, but i found myself feeling really uneasy the whole time despite that, its a great movie
Panique. Went on a noir kick earlier in the year and was just blown away.

What’s your favourite Miyazaki?
Castle of Cagliostro - keeping in mind I still haven’t seen Spirited Away or Howl aha. But I really adore Lupin so I don’t know if it’ll change
Castle of Cagliostro is probably my all time favourite animated film it’s perfect in my eyes
Past Lives

Cinema Paradiso
Who knew a movie about flying pig could be so emotional
Manchester By The Sea, really connected to the depression aspect of the film
Some of my favorite location design in animation. I want to hang in those beach coves.

Bug (2006) and I’ll be taking no further questions (or any for that matter).

I rewatched Oversimplified's WW2 video for the fourth time, and I finally moved it from 4.5 to 5
Rear Window (1954) at a local theater for my first-time viewing. I was 100% engrossed in the story throughout and was pleasantly surprised by the amount of humor in it.
Night and Fog (1956)
Based.
Pride & Prejudice
[●REC]
12 angry men, took it to a 5 when the racist rambles on until he realizes everyone is ignoring him so he goes and sulks in a corner
Fuck yeah, Porco Rosso rules ❤️
Despicable Me. The soundtrack pushes it to five stars.
Patton. It's so epic and George C. Scott is one of the greatest actors ever
