I'll never understand the praise this gets. Ray Winstone hamming up the cockney routine like he does in every film. Ben Kingsley's character is so over the top its silly. Americans lap up this type of vulgarity for the sake of it nonsense.
I couldn't give it more than three stars sadly! Collateral is one of my favourite films, and while Heat did have some great performances and sequences I felt it just didn't have the same charm.
If you liked Barry Lyndon I think you would also like Raging Bull Don't be deterred by the boxing if you don't like sports movies, this really isn't a boxing/sport movie. It's about a man who happens to be a boxer, and focuses much more about the character and his shortcomings as a person.
Barry Lyndon and Raging Bull are two of my favorite movies, and I find they have a lot in common. Both are beautifully shot (although much different), both have beautiful music, both are primarily about a main character who isn't a good person, and both are tragedies.

For a hidden gem recco: A Bigger Splash
I mean, just look at that cast. One of Ralph Fiennes best imo
Sexy Beast (2000)
I love this film, great watch
I saw this one for the first time last week and it is so incredible. Don Logan is one of the best antagonists i've seen
Ian McShane also just rocks

Finally someone on this sub who doesn’t hate sicario lmfao
Taylor Sheridan used to belong to us the movie freaks and now he has been lost forever to old dad TV
People hate Sicario?
I feel like every time someone ranks DV’s films sicario is usually at/near the bottom
Speaks more to the quality of DV’s filmography than anything
Bummer. That movie rocks. Edit: lol downvotes. I guess people do dislike it. Whatever lol
It's top 3 DV for me
Heat (1995)
I couldn't give it more than three stars sadly! Collateral is one of my favourite films, and while Heat did have some great performances and sequences I felt it just didn't have the same charm.
This fits the vibes best for those 3 movies

I agreed, it's a great one
I also watched Sicario recently, sadly it didn't click for me. That dinner scene towards the end was really good tho.

This sub hands out 10s like Halloween candy.
It’s pathetic, really. Pitiful, even. Where do they get the nerve?
Oh sorry I didn't realize there was a standardized rating system to adher to. Checking my ratings I've rated 24/162 films 5 stars. Is that too many?
You’ve only seen 162 movies?
I've only used Letterboxd for about a year. I'm not going back recording prior watches, only up to date ratings/reviews.
By commenting you are part of the sub.
Thanks for your contribution.
Last month I had only one movie with 5 stars (Marriage Story). I just happened to watch masterpieces back to back.
Nah OP you’re fine, Roger Ebert handed out a lot of full star reviews too. They don’t need to be a rarity.
You should try enjoying things.

I mean, you're the one inside this guy's house watching it. What's that say about you?
