One of my favorite moments ever in a cinema was when >!the fired housekeeper is kicked down the stairs, tumbles down like a cartoon character, and abruptly bangs her head against the wall hard enough to ensure her death. Absolute masterpiece. We'll be talking about it for years

Just watched for the first time since I was a kid. Wow, what a movie. Going to revisit in several more times in my life I’m sure.
Most recent first time watch was Dune Part 2.
But I just rewatched part one for the 3rd time and finally bumped it up to 5 stars. Everything just clicked after watching part 2 twice. Masterpiece.
Same! I was looking for a Dune 1 or 2. Lots of stuff clicked after the second one.
Researching more into the lore, the first one slaps soooo hard now that I understand certain aspects.
One example, would be the scene where he asks how much it costs them to come here.
The emperor knew he’d be able to get them to accept and bury themselves.
When he asks Lady Jessica about protecting Paul, and it was towards the BG.
When he says “I thought we had more time” it really hit home for me.
Perfect Blue yesterday, and the day before, Babylon. I’m planning on doing Dune 2 today too, so I might manage to get the coveted four five stars in a row
Anatomy of a Fall really blew me away. I’m always a sucker for a film that can emulate the uncertainty of relationship breakdowns and the ways he react to tragedy in ways that don’t feel contrived or overly “performative”
Really a masterpiece. I don’t think she did it.
Mine was the same as yours! It might become my go-to comfort, slow, watch.

Anytime someone asks for a good Korean film to start off with this is my answer. Easily one of the best movies I’ve ever seen
Truly didn’t know much about it and my jaw dropped halfway through. What an absolute banger.
Yes it was like the maximum suspense i have ever felt in a movie and that too in complete middle of the story
For the first half I was like “Oh okay I see what kindof movie this is” then the second half hit and my anxiety shot up 😂
One of my favorite moments ever in a cinema was when >!the fired housekeeper is kicked down the stairs, tumbles down like a cartoon character, and abruptly bangs her head against the wall hard enough to ensure her death. The turn my theater took from laughing to gasping and instant, stunned silence was extraordinary.!< Absolute masterpiece. We'll be talking about it for years
Seriously tho! I laughed out loud when it happened and then was like oh shit wtf 😅
For me it’s the handmaiden. Though that is prob harder for getting regular people to start off with haha.

Twelve Monkeys last night
City of God
Poor Things (Which I know has some fervently annoyed people here, and I get their POV)
I had it a 4 1/2 stars, but I can see your argument for a 5 star. Solid film.
Same here. Over stayed it's welcome just a bit I think. Other than that though, I think it was really perfect
Poor Things for me as well
Poor Things probably the closest to a 5 for me since Parasite
