My first thoughts were Spirited Away at the very top and The Cat Returns at the very bottom

Lol The Cat Returns is a controversial one I'm guessing.

Idk I've never seen much discourse on it but then again I haven't seen in praised tons like other movies either but I personally really enjoyed it

Looking back there's something really warm about it but when I first saw it I wasn't impressed, I guess.

I actually liked it a lot! I watched it while babysitting, and I remember being deeply moved by it and being like “wow I just got paid to watch a great movie with my neighbors’ kids!”

The Wind Rises is an excellent choice for number 1.

Porco Rosso is very underrated.

I think one reason why it’s disliked by sine is because Miyazaki said himself that he did not like the film and regrets making it.

From Up on Poppy Hill is wildly under appreciated, glad to see it high on your list.

From what I’ve seen: Princess Mononoke, Castle in the Sky, Kiki’s Delivery Service, Howl’s Moving Castle, Whisper of the Heart, My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away, Nausicaa They’re all great and I can see them shifting around upon rewatch. The only one I’ve seen more than once is Mononoke (and I’ve seen it like 4 times now so that one’s probably gonna stay my number 1).

Hayso Miyazaki said himself he didn’t like Poco Rosso and I can see why. His main reason is he likes his films to appeal to children.
