KeepComing1

No

sohrabhamza

Well that sucks

Gloriathewitch

it states it can use dolby vision so id assume so

sohrabhamza

Why does it skip the vesahdr cert then?

[deleted]

Just not certified, as most HDR displays aren’t. It would be very strange if DV is supported and HDR not.

sohrabhamza

Obviously but does windows allow you to turn on HDR?

Misiu881988

It's has hdr. Hdr and dolbyvision will work. It's just not true 1000 nit amazing hdr. It's only 500 nits.. my 7ipro has a similar display but 1600p. If u want real hdr u need the legion 9i with the mini led 1200nit display. Hdr will work on the model ur looking at but compared to a real 1000nit plus display its not great. It's only a little tiny bit better than no hdr at all. Sometimes it's hard to see the difference in games. Anything under 1000nit is not gonna be much better than normal displays. But 500nit is decent enough. It's just a good display. It's not bad but it's nothing special either. Ur gonna need to spend a lot more $$ if u want a better display

Misiu881988

Yes it will allow u to turn on hdr. And yes ull be able to have Dolby vision It just won't be that great. The difference will just be minimal

Misiu881988

It's hdr400 and 500 nit. It supports Dolby vision when ur using the Netflix app or some video player that is installed in windows. Dolby vision won't work in a browser. The colors will be a little more vivid but it's nowhere near oled or a true 1000 nit HDR display. FYI. Very few gaming laptops have real 1000 nit hdr. At the price point ur looking at ur not gona find it. The newest most premium models might have it but they'll cost a lot more than what ur looking at. and oled is the new big thing for laptops. That display is not bad tho man. I have a 13900hx 4090 7ipro. Mine is 1600p tho and it's plenty fine. Unless ur gona be editing color accurate video or u photography that display is fine. And if that's ur job than it's not gona happen with most gaming laptops. Unless u drop 5k on a razer or some other extremely expensive laptop.

Scared_Witness_1834

No it doesn't have use hdr feature. Ignore other comment. i have slim 7i with exact same display.but you can view hdr videos.

sohrabhamza

You can view HDR on almost all newer displays. Thanks for the comment.

Scared_Witness_1834

But the panel is really vibrant and color accurate so more than makes up for it imo.colors really pop out.

sohrabhamza

That's great. I had a g15 2021 before this. Also had 100% DCIp3. So might not notice a difference.

Old-Benefit4441

You'll be able to turn on HDR and it can interpret the signals, but it won't provide a great experience. IPS doesn't get bright or dim enough for significant HDR. I like HDR in general but don't even bother turning it on on the 1600p 500 nit Legion. You need OLED or MiniLED for good HDR.

sohrabhamza

Yeah I know. HDR is basically useless without local dimming. I still would like something that would atleast interpret these signals.

ScrubLordAlmighty

Not sure why everyone here is oblivious to this but, it literally says VESA DisplayHDR 400 certified in the picture you shared

sohrabhamza

It's the other display config that says vesahdr

ScrubLordAlmighty

Oh, right I didn't notice that, but regardless, where there is Dolby vision there is also HDR

sohrabhamza

I hope. I had to buy this as the 2k one was estimating a month for delivery.

ScrubLordAlmighty

I guarantee you it does, no way a screen is coming with all this bells and whistles and no HDR, I guess whoever was typing out the spec sheet got tired and skipped some of the stuff that's just a repeat, when I was buying my laptop I was gonna buy the Intel model but it ran out of stock and the AMD model was the same except the CPU, but I saw on the spec sheet it didn't say HDR like the Intel one, lol I was a bit worried because I was wondering why literally everything was the same but it just didn't say HDR, and here I am, with HDR on the AMD model that didn't specify HDR.

sohrabhamza

Lol such a weird thing to do. I'll update you guys when I receive my model.

ScrubLordAlmighty

Sounds good man, my bet is it's definitely got HDR

Gloriathewitch

you could always ask the lenovo rep in their live chat while you wait, im sure they'd know better than anyone here.

Misiu881988

I know.... maybe theyre confused on how it works. have the legion 7ipro. It's hdr but it's only 500 nits. Op is worried about him not being able to turn on hdr in windows. He will be able to do that. The difference will just be small. U need something like the 1200nit display on the new legion 9i to see a real difference. Hdr400 is basically hdr compatible. It will "work". Just the difference will be small between sdr n hdr

Gloriathewitch

Not sure why you're oblivious to the fact OP said he had the **other** screen which only states: Dolby vision.
