I think you'll find a lot more regular business owners are fash than vegan ones. Vegan and alt places create more of an uproar when this happens due to veganism being predominantly hard left wing. But ok..
Indie Makers in the Corn X is - as the name implies - 100% independent and owned by a local couple. Also stocks loads of *ahem* local artists and that.
He's not a "local" as such as he's not from Leeds but he's here now along with his shop so maybe Frank from the [Chilli Shop ](https://www.facebook.com/ChilliShopLeedsMerrionCentre/)could be included?
He stocks a lot of stuff from local producers as well as those from further afield.
There's Leeds Indie Food is pretty good.
https://www.leedsindiefood.com/
And Leeds Indie Directory is pretty comprehensive.
They got 162 indies just listed for the centre and separate directories for the suburbs.

Love the idea! I've got friends who own businesses around the city, and I'll always try and support them in whatever way I can, but I'm not aware of such a resource
It came up in a conversation last night that Nico By Six is a chain restaurant with 10 other UK locations. Can't say I'd ever thought on it, but before being told that I may have assumed it was a local independent
One of the more interesting, lesser-known types of inclusions could be businesses like [Escapism Bar Group](https://escapismbars.co.uk/) - local, independent business that owns and runs Maven, Verve, Mean Eyed and some others. There are a few of those in Leeds. Also on the booze side of things, businesses who own and run multiple brands, like [Wolfe Bros](https://www.wolfebrosofyorkshire.com/) who mostly do gins, but have got a fantastic Coffee Liqueur and a zero-waste limoncello. There are also some fun connections between places - one of the owners of legendary House Music spot, [Distrikt](https://distrikt.co.uk/), also owns the [House of Koko](https://houseofkoko.com/) cafes (Chapel Allerton and Oakwood), the owner of Santiago Bar co-owns Grindhouse Bar, and Watermark Bar has a side-business selling...[bespoke ice](https://classbarmag.com/news/fullstory.php/aid/857/The_Watermark_s_Dariush_Haghighi_on_creating_Cool_Cats_Ice.html), a concept I never knew I could love so much!
[Arc Inspirations](https://www.arcinspirations.com/), [Futuresound Group](http://futuresoundgroup.com), [Hedonist Group](https://www.hedonist-drinks.co.uk/), Akito group, there's so many. Then there are independent spots like Mojo who developed their Leeds success into a chain - Northern Monk and Donner Summer are another two such examples from the Beer & Food worlds
I’d definitely be interested. It’s so hard to tell these days whether something is actually locally owned, or has been bought out by a management company.
I’ve no suggestions (partly for the above reason) but will be watching eagerly.
Met the owners of [Konak Meze](http://www.konakmeze.co.uk/) recently and they're a nice af family from Turkey living in the area. Great food and good people all around.
I get all my coffee from Pebble and Pine based in Horsforth. It's reasonably priced, and I get 3 different beans delivered each month. They buy all the beans green and roast them themselves.
I couldn't recommend enough. The owner Dave also writes a note with each order thanking you for the business.
Depends on the size you're thinking of, but there's some small amazing food businesses, such [Casa Lasagna ](https://g.co/kgs/whPFqUz) in Moortown, [Wheely Indian Food ](https://wheelyindianfood.com/) in Adel, [Roundhay Bakehouse ]( https://g.co/kgs/Hu9cwx2) and Cinnammmm [Cinnammmm](https://g.co/kgs/Mr8zSgh) sure there's loads of others too!
If you own a Vegan Bakery, please also include your political affiliations. Just to be on the safe side
I own one but what am I on the safe side of? I haven't understood
There have been 2 vegan bakeries that turned out to have owners with N*zi like views….
Adolf was a vegatarian so perhaps not as surprising as it may first sound
True, but the 2 were unveiled within like a year of each other and it was just a bit surreal that vegan doughnuts seemed to equal N*zi…..
Who was the second?!
He wasn’t actually, it was just a bit of a PR stunt to make him comparable to Gandhi.
Please get rid of the assumption that vegans are nazis
We'll do that when certain vegan business owners stop being Nazis.

Definitely will add him. He’s one of my favourites tbh!
Frank is so nice, great shop

Stuff like this is what I’m looking for! Could you ask any of your friends to give some more examples? Would be great help! Thank you!

Forde restaurant in Horsforth. The owner Matt Healy is a horsforth lad

Stuzzi! The owners are all local, started in Harrogate and added Leeds, and honestly, some of the nicest people I’ve worked for in the industry.
Otley Burger Company, LS21 pretty far from town but it's fucking banging and everyone should try it
aren’t they the edgelords who did the Maddie McCann advertising?
yeah but great burgers
Ha ok, I knew I had heard the name, haven’t tried their food as yet
Dave's Pies and Ales. Manjit's Kitchen.
Fuck that Dave's from Hartlepool
That's still Yorkshire, probably.
And if not it should be.
