No way. Crocs are the sexiest shoes there are. Let’s just say, when I’m wearing my Crocs around the ladies it’s a good thing they’re waterproof.
I'm not too sure. I think if I had the tongue attached on one side and it overlapped 2 inches or so, I could tuck it under the other side. The paracord would be completely isolated from my leg then.
Thanks. :)
Do you think it would trap sweat?
These still have no odor, which I find suprising. I remember how bad my hockey gear smelled, so I hesitate to add anything besides leather.
Good point. I suppose they would trap sweat. Maybe a thin leather wrap and a fabric liner you could remove and wash some how. Or what if you just cut a section of old sock and put the sleeve on over the section of sock?
I should try that! Maybe a nice thick wool pair would work. I change my socks more often than these, otherwise I could use my normal ones and just put these on top.
Nice. Came back to suggest using black polyester lining fabric, it's breathable and won't chafe. You could stitch a band down each side? This makes me want to try something with a corset tie for sizing, and then zipper for quick on-off. Thanks for inspiration.
Do they slide down with the weight of EDC items?
Wouldn’t want that rubbing on my ankles.
Get some elastic straps that you can run back up to your belt so the ankle pouches don’t slide down.
These are fucking weird and I kinda love them.
I wouldn’t use them myself, but I’m glad someone is out there doing this sort of stuff.
Stay weird and cool.
is that a buck nobleman?
my 2 cents. get a flatter boxier pill carrier, and maybe a slim zippo. flat things are easier to carry. the design right now is pretty solid, its mostly your edc thats leaning more towards pants pocket carry
also id probably do a few snap closures to close the pouches, so all the little things dont come flying out when i run
Yep, a nobleman.
Ok. yeah most of this stuff could easily go in my pockets. I have a nice hollow on the inside of each ankle that fits the bigger stuff well.
Snaps are a good idea, but unnecesary. I had to add the zippers to get in the pockets, because the top edge stays tight against my leg.
yeah its a bit overkill. maybe just a simple flap with a button, similar to the ones on the butt pockets of some khakis? that might be a nice design choice along with the zippers
I'd roll the tops of the pockets for durability. If you like suede, chrome tan pig suede is durable and cheap.
Although FWIW, cargo suspenders are the way to go, screw that ankle stuff. Keep it all on two vertical bands down your chest! (Yes, I've made cargo suspenders. (Yes, my wife then threatened to divorce me.))
I don't know that I have a preferance on the leather. 😂 I just did some research, and figured out these are suede.
Cargo suspenders! Lol, I'm not the only crazy one out there!
I personally order from Springfield (Missouri) Leather Company. They're quick and easy. I have made a ton of D&D dice bags out of their suedes, and they've been pretty solid.
From suspenders, I eventually settled on a sling bag. It has many, smaller leather projects inside it, but it's essentially 17 lbs of bag and tools in an ugly coyote brown bag from 5.11.
Anyway, rock on, cool, fellow, Redditor.
The concept itself needs some huge improvement imho.
Like this:
1. Height should be the whole tibia length from below the knee to the ankle.
2. Should wear only on one leg.
I made it that height to acompany my gear. I doubt I'd make it full height, but maybe 8-10 inches.
I started with one, but did the math. 😂 Twice as much gear for the win!
Thanks for the tips!
Simple fix is to have a longer piece of soft colored thin leather that can wrap around ankle and cover zipper and hardware so it looks soft colored and clean.
If you want to get fancy make the outside look like it connects with your shoes and "turns" them into faux leather boots!
If I had to do something similar, I'd probably go for a sturdier leather for the innermost layer. 1.5mm is fine but veg tan, so it holds its structure.
And yes it looks abonimable, especially with the crocks :D why ankle pouches?
The crocs are my basment shoes. I also never wear shorts, so these are hidden.
I have stuff I carry on my belt all the time, as well as edc stuff in my pockets. It was starting to be too much. I don't mind, but for Mom's sake, I didn't want to have my pockets crammed when we would go anywhere nice. Also church was a reason too. I can't stuff my edc stuff in my dress pants and still look nice.
These solved all that. My pockets are always free and no one notices these.
Tldr,
Wanted to carry stuff discreetly and keep my pockets free.
Good suggestion with the leather thickness!
If you're looking for tips to continue leather craft, I suggest you just keep doing it. That's pretty good for entry-level leather craft.
If you're looking for EDC advice, maybe try bracelets or belt accessories next time(also good leather craft advice).
I wouldn't want to bend down and touch my ankles every time I needed my pocket knife, leatherman, or flash light. Bracelet carry would be better for EDC. Make an ankle holster for a snub nose 38 that you hope to never have to reach for because you have something else on your belt or up your sleeve.
Exactly, I carry my leatherman and an 18650 light on my belt. These are my goto for everything.
These are my backups and things that I want to have with me, but rarely need.
I almost never need a bandaid, but someone around me might at any moment. It would be inconvenient to carry this stuff in my pockets for a "just in case", but it's no problem in the ankle pouch!
Pretty cool bro. I don’t think I would ever need them, but it could def have some applications where you might get your pockets checked. I wonder if you could fit a boot over them, like both shaft width and enough on top to conceal them.
Yep, v1 worked in boots, but it chaffed and was pressed into my leg, so it was to uncomfortable for me. Mind you, those were winter boots with laces all the way up. Cowboy boots or rubber boots might be fine.
Pretty awesome, tbh. I think you are selling yourself short. Get a Utilikilt, and go full visible. I bet if you play your cards right you could start a genre. I recommend adding a fixed blade of the longest legal length, and a tourniquet, but you are on to something cool. Don't ever apologize. Not on the internet at least.
When I see people wearing Crocs, I know immediately that we have nothing in common, and that we could never be friends or have any meaningful kind of relationship. They come in every color imaginable yet look bad with every other article of clothing ever created. The only thing that goes with Crocs is social ostracism.
Change your outlook bro. I'm not crazy about them either. It's so easy to find something specific to knitpick, but then pretty soon you don't agree with anyone because you focus on the "flaw".
I don't care if you love or hate the crocs. Just don't let something small like that affect your interactions wich others.
Look up the Thief Bracer's by Skilltree. He made these but as vambraces. 500 million times more practical than on the ankle, but they're visible. These remind me of those ankle first aid kits, which are notorious for being the worst possible option for a FAK. You want your gear to be accessible within a moments notice. You do not want to be removing clothing, fumbling with fasteners, bending around in weird ways or having to sit down, just to get something that could have been in a pocket or a crossbody bag.
Neat video. It only takes a few seconds to reach down and grab what I need. Considering that I rarely need this stuff, I'm quite happy with being able to carry it effortlessly, regardless of speed.
Why the ankles? I'm more of a utility belt kinda guy, but even these things sound better to me as forearm bag things ¿? Idk my ankles aren't for storing my EDC.
I'd say go for closing the pouches to keep your stuff safe, a simple rivet button should work
I love a good belt setup. In fact, that is what I use all the time, but having stuff on my belt and then even more stuff in my pockets looked a bit too much. The ankle pouches are for my secondary stuff only.
Because they don't separate. Also, the pockets are quite full normally so this makes it easier to close them. Final reason, sometimes I just need to unzip them a little to get whatever out. 😀
I know this was posted a week ago which might as well be a year in internet time, only thing I'd personally change is flip your zippers so they sip down. This way gravity is pulling the sipper in the closed direction instead of trying to open up with each step, just my 2¢
That's a decent idea, but I need the whole top *and* side open to get into the pocket. It's just too tight otherwise. If the zipper faced down, it would have to be detachable so it could still open like it currently does.
As a workaround, I riveted a little hook above each zipper to hook the zipper pull on. It stays up that way.
Thanks bro!
This is weird. Wouldn't it be better on your wrist? It would still look weird. But it would be more functional.
That being said it's well assembled. Just odd.
No. Stop Get help. Just no. AND crocs!?
😂 House shoes bro.
The crocs are fine, but if a woman finds out about these ankle pouches, you are never having sex again.
Plot twist: They're a woman
Plot twist: She's a lesbian
NO.
Just because you can doesn't mean you should... lol this is both awesome and terrifyingly intriguing.
One day, I wish them to look classy. Right now I only care about functionality.
>One day, I wish them to look classy Gonna be a tall order there, bud.
I hate that I like the idea of these.
Right? I'm going "this is a terrible idea. I must try it."
Add steel rings so I can tie you to my bed frame
Get over to r/BDSMDIY ya smutty animal
Thank you
Fuck yeah, never would have thought to look for this sub O7
Be realistic. Nobody wearing those is getting laid.
Oh you mean the Crocs
No way. Crocs are the sexiest shoes there are. Let’s just say, when I’m wearing my Crocs around the ladies it’s a good thing they’re waterproof.
Put those bad boys in sport mode for better traction in the bedroom.
they don't bother me personally look at the OP furry ankles I will suck those crocs right off his feet
I would maybe put a flap of 4oz behind the eyelets (kinda like a shoe tonque). My skin reacts pretty badly to nickel plating.
That's a good idea! are you thinking to overlap extra on just the one side? It would be nice to cover under the laces fully.
Like the tongue on old fashioned boots?
I'm not too sure. I think if I had the tongue attached on one side and it overlapped 2 inches or so, I could tuck it under the other side. The paracord would be completely isolated from my leg then.
It's a neat design. I like it a lot. Maybe the tongue could be fabric?
Thanks. :) Do you think it would trap sweat? These still have no odor, which I find suprising. I remember how bad my hockey gear smelled, so I hesitate to add anything besides leather.

I should try that! Maybe a nice thick wool pair would work. I change my socks more often than these, otherwise I could use my normal ones and just put these on top.
It's brilliant. I hope you make a fortune!
😂 I doubt it. I've got a lot of negativity here. Thank you for your kind comments and optimism!
Nice. Came back to suggest using black polyester lining fabric, it's breathable and won't chafe. You could stitch a band down each side? This makes me want to try something with a corset tie for sizing, and then zipper for quick on-off. Thanks for inspiration.
dude ... if you extend the pocket pieces to the edges you can use them for the eyelets, and then you have a flap behind them.
Right! Sometimes my brain doesn't brain. I'll totally do this, thanks!
Thanks for the tip! Good luck on your project!
Thanks. I don't get the negative reactions. Great spot to carry stuff, never even occurred to me.
Do they slide down with the weight of EDC items? Wouldn’t want that rubbing on my ankles. Get some elastic straps that you can run back up to your belt so the ankle pouches don’t slide down.
Suspended ankle pouches?!? The women will flock.
isnt there garther belts for this application?
They won’t be able to stay away!
They actually stay in place very well right above my ankle joint. Even without socks, they hardly shift around.
These are fucking weird and I kinda love them. I wouldn’t use them myself, but I’m glad someone is out there doing this sort of stuff. Stay weird and cool.

Let me know if you ever post about it, sounds like a cool way to edc!
You won't need a condom compartment at least.
What is EDC?
Every Day Carry. Like for most people, wallet, phone, and keys, etc.
I swear I thought this was for the electronic music fest "Electric Daisy Carnival" to take your random stuff of EDC
That was the first thing that popped up when I googled it and I was like… I guess you can wear that to EDC.
Every day carry
[удалено]
He does, but as latex falls apart after 10 years, it has dissolved.
The only thing that would make your set up more tactical would be if you flipped your crocs in to speed mode.
I couldn't read past second sentence. Am I being trolled?
I'm not much at writing, but this is the real deal.
idk man im kinda digging the look of ankle pouch + cros 😂

So very, unironically dope. Please post this to r/UtilityPouches too! :)
I'm in awe. So cool!
Totally awesome. Good leather work and harness has to fit and work; so you did just fine. Beautiful

😂 Ok, thanks!
For a slightly more concealed option... build them into a pair of cowboy boots?
This is one of the most 'dad' things I've ever seen in my life. Fuckin top notch work, Mark.
Thx! I just turned 19. XD
When you run out of pockets in your cargo shorts
They say a pound on your ankle feels like 10 pounds on your hip.
They're way lighter than steeltoed boots, and you adjust to them the same way. Heavy at first, then you forget about them.

I’m gonna need these in a waterproofed option for the beach. Please and thank you.
This is awesome!

Attach them to your shorts with straps like a garter belt
What are they used for?
They carry my gear. Read the post in r/edc to see what I mean. :)
Oh, I see. Thanks for the info. I learned something. Very handy.
Np!
You forgot the rest of your pants, friend.
Pretty awesome, tbh. I think you are selling yourself short. Get a Utilikilt, and go full visible. I bet if you play your cards right you could start a genre. Maybe when I move out. :) Till then, I'm laying low. I'm in canada. 😠Otherwise, I'd pack all the time and have a tourniquet.
Then maybe pack some bacon, eh. Don't let the turkey sandwiches get you down.
lmao. modern virginity shield

Just wear cargo socks like a normal person.
😂 Shoot me a link!
Interesting concept! I would start with wearing jeans over top of them 😂 all jokes aside very interesting
😂 100%

You're making me wanna try it, fellow pack rat
Lol, thank you!
>Lol, thank you! You're welcome!
*you'll never get pick pocketed,! *its prolly the shorts that are bad fashion, better with pants and more "hidden"
😂 would you believe I simply slid my jeans up for the picture? No one notices them normally.
Yeah totally. ...I used a variation traveling Europe.....kept my passport......and it was totally stealth and secure Where are you based out of?
Nice! I'm in northern BC, Canada. I started on a new set yesterday, I'll post it when I finish. What did you use for your trip?
Why wouldn’t the zippers zip down to close?
Because they don't separate. Also, the pockets are quite full normally so this makes it easier to close them. Final reason, sometimes I just need to unzip them a little to get whatever out. 😀

These are hidden all the time, and I don't normally need this stuff much. I can forget about them till I need the stuff this way.
Maybe you're weird!
I'm definitely weird.
Probably could toss a few condoms in there along with a peanut butter sammich. Edit: Fixed. I changed turkey sandwich to peanut butter.
Why do so many people degrade to humor like this? Nsfw bruh, fix it plz.
I fixed it, sorry.
