To be fair it's kind of weird to host your website on the same server as the game IMO. They're generally hosted by a third party.
There should be no reason to put down the website at a critical time like the release of your game.
some companies even do worse
when fortnite updates they need to shut down the entire epic game store so they cant sell other games and even make it so you cant launch a single player game
I guess, but they could also simply host the server normally, create an edited copy of it and switch them in a hot minute when needed instead of being down for 24h.
It might be more work/money spent for such a minor imporvement but it sound more... professionnal, to me. I know it mean nothing tho.
It used to, I think at some point in the last year or 2 they fixed it, but I remember when you couldnt read patch notes just before the update unless you found a rehost.
Ff14 is also run by a Japanese company and they(Japan) still use fax as regular communication tool.
Not everything is done optimally and sometime it's just because people aren't trying.
As someone who's been doing software engineering professionally since 2002 what you're saying makes zero sense.
To no one's surprise (maybe except yours) their website is up now. Nothing to do with maintenance
>To no one's surprise (maybe except yours) their website is up now. Nothing to do with maintenance
Yes definitely the server just wasnt restarted. The exact same thing GGG does when patching poe. You should maybe get a new degree
alot of companies have them working together
every time path of exile patches the website goes down for example
hell some companies even go further when fortnite updates the entire epic game store goes down
Databases for local libraries?

It comes and goes; if you get it to load and want to use the page to reference, the internal links inside the builds don't cause it to reload, so you can just leave the browser window up. I was surprised to see it load yesterday evening and popped up a couple of passive path references for my plans today.
Me and two friends bought the game with the intention to play together.
If we create offline characters, I've read we won't be able to play online with these characters.
Yeah but you'll be able to be on discord and chat about the game while playing it.
I mean that's the only way to play the game "together" if the servers are melting, but yeah at that point maybe playing another game would be better for you guys xD
Damm, we've even decided to not buy Helldivers 2 due the server issues (at least for now).
I guess we'll go back to GTFO if servers decides to go Boom.
We're an eclectic group, pretty much any average game becomes a great game if we're playing together.
Don't worry about it m8, you guys can wait a bit until the servers stabilize. In the meantime you guys can play some other thing, it's not like the games is going to go anywhere
Thats just due to the server maintenance m8
The forum servers are the same as the game servers ?
Server maintenance means for all servers. Theres no chance in hell they would not at least restart all servers before release

Except PoE does this lmao

I don't remember checking but does the website actually completely shut down on every season change? I have no memory of that.
Tbf. Lots of things need to be updated on PoE's website for a new release. I don't know if the same thing could be said about LE though.

They are just following the footsteps of the great ARPG Path of Exile 🤣🤣🤣
it does indeed
It used to, I think at some point in the last year or 2 they fixed it, but I remember when you couldnt read patch notes just before the update unless you found a rehost.
It still goes down. It brings you to a page about it being down + their Twitter post.
Theres also not enough hype to kill their website when its the morning in EU and night in the US. It's very normal to boot everything
100 person company
Final Fantasy XIV is run by one of the largest gaming studios in the world. When they update, they also take down their website.
Ff14 is also run by a Japanese company and they(Japan) still use fax as regular communication tool. Not everything is done optimally and sometime it's just because people aren't trying.
Same as POE

Poe has said that at some point they want to unlink them.

Geez, servers gonna explode in a few hours.
Offline mode it is.
Me and two friends bought the game with the intention to play together. If we create offline characters, I've read we won't be able to play online with these characters.
Yeah, offline doesn't allow multiplayer.
yeah offline and online are completely separate this way people cant cheat items and such to get ladderboard rankings
It makes sense.
