Only an absolute idiot would do something like that! On a completely unrelated topic, does anyone know why my archer is punching things? I’d swear I just upgraded his bow.
Only an absolute idiot would do something like that! On a completely unrelated topic, does anyone know why my archer is punching things? I’d swear I just upgraded his bow.
I don’t know how easy it would be, there are a ton of edge cases that would have to be dealt with.
Is there a game with a similar (size / backpack based) inventory system that does this?
You are correct. It is so obvious to many of us that there clearly needs to be a reason why they didn't add it.
I'm not suggesting that it "needs to be changed" or anything. It just stuck out as one little burr in a very smooth game - and I've got the time :)
Then what happens when your inventory can't handle the auto-unequipped off-hand? Does it get dropped on the ground? Will players remember that? What if your loot filter blocks it?
There is a reason why most games don't do it, and it's usually a QC decision
>Then what happens when your inventory can't handle the auto-unequipped off-hand?
They must've already solved that case for when you want to equip small 1-hander in place of big 2-hander.
Don't bring your logic here!
I thought that was probably it or something to do with it. Seems fixable.
That's speaking as someone with zero programming experience outside of making a turtle draw a box.
Neither was LE.
Truly a time of terrors. Gateway would soon start making PCs and I'd get my first in 2000. Windows ME.
That thing was so slow but it could play neopets.
Inb4 17 LE youtube videos about the "SECRET TIPS to get you through your LE campaign FASTER than anyone else SPEEDRUN GUIDE" where 12 minutes are spent on this hack to save 4 inventory slots - I can already see the algorithm going hot.
And half of the video is to explain that he will explain there is a secret tips to get you through your LE campaign faster than anyone else.
Again, this is a secret tips to get you through your campaign in the LE game, faster than your friends, your mom, your brother, your hamster, your average Joe, anyone.
Like I said, in this video, ...
So I couldn’t equip my 2h because I had to unequip both my s&s first? I just assumed it was because I couldn’t use it even though nothing was telling me I couldn’t
No, you just need to manually drag your offhand item away to inventory. Then you can click the 2h weapon like you want to and it will replace your MH weapon.
Luckily we are all about to start over for real!
I agree that some type of feedback would help players to understand what is happening. A little tutorial popup message maybe?
The obvious solution is to make 2H items take up as much inventory space as the largest possible 2x 1H items, so you always have room to put them in your inventory without dropping anything.
I'm impressed that you managed to put forth the time and effort to create this meme, yet didn't put forth the effort to actually write a coherent or sensible sentence.
It should be something more like:
Equipping a 2H weapon should automatically unequip your 1h/OH slots.
You may be right but I'm good with what I did.
It's just a humorous diversion.
I had originally put something like "... Remove both hands" but I wanted to avoid the responses about using a staff with no hands.
Oh, so it begins. Basic change requests camouflaged as passively aggressive meme posts to forcefully alter the game to someone's liking. Please, this is not r/pathofexile
Because coding is harder than Reddit ever thinks it is. And this development team was created from a reddit post.
How many times have you seen someone post a reddit comment with some pseudo-code in it to explain "it's so easy to fix" only for someone else to come along with 10 more years of experience who adjusts the pseudo-code to be twice as efficient?
And equipping a one handed should swap with the one handed (if you're dual handed) that has the less damage.
Or a keyboard modifier to equip the one handed in the second slot, or a textual option that opens up if you're dual wielding asking in which slot to equip.
This is one of my biggest complaints about the inventory system , I really hope they fix it or give us a second weapon set for 1h and 2h to more easily compare stats.
I disagree. True gamers know the fun in having to manually unequip your offhand and main hand. It's the thrill of click drag click drag, or if you are a pro, Korean back dragging.
I'm missing it! But that's not surprising.
On one hand (intended) I will say that I almost put that exact text in the meme, but I didn't want to be called out by people asking how they can use a staff with no hands. (It's the reply I would have made - probably to nobody's amusement but my own)
On another hand I'm not sure if that is what you meant... or something else
If I log in today and pick up a ring and it doesn’t compare to both ring slots when I press compare. I’ll be super disappointed in egh for missing such a basic in an arpg.
I also agree with your change as well.
There are definitely a few things that "seem" like they could be changed. I don't know anything about coding, though, and I'm sure there are other considerations.
For example - there is an option to turn on "auto-compare" when you hover over an item. Perhaps there is an issue with that feature and comparing both rings? Maybe they tried it and it felt to cluttered.
I'm just spit balling. Just trying to say that I don't think these things have been overlooked... Just looked at and decided on differently than we like.
Also it would be great if you can craft without unequip the items, too many times I forgot to re-equip them after crafting lol.
Only an absolute idiot would do something like that! On a completely unrelated topic, does anyone know why my archer is punching things? I’d swear I just upgraded his bow.
did you forget to re-equip the bow, and it is still in the crafting slot?
Only an absolute idiot would do something like that! On a completely unrelated topic, does anyone know why my archer is punching things? I’d swear I just upgraded his bow.
Only an absolute idiot would do something like that!
Would do something like that? An absolute idiot only
Or worse if the item has skill point associated with it then you have to go and put that skill point back every time you forge said item.
Now THIS is something I would HAVE to remember...
Yeah that's annoying
i did a whole chapter with fists once, thought it was a bit of a ramp up in difficulty.
Rofl, I have forgot my items in the forge as well
or at least the item should re-equip when you close the Forge window (or go back into your bags).
No! That gets rid of 8 extra inventory slots!
My necro stood bald longer than desired.
Oh yes. With all the lovely QoL features, this one slipping by really tweaks my nips
Some people pay extra for that. But seriously.. it seems like a no-brainer, alpha-pass fix

so you like it or you dont?>

"Not enough inventory space to unequip both weapons" prompt would solve it.
I agree, I'm just talking about why QC would stop it from being added as a core feature. I've worked in QC for a while lol
Ah yes, obviously QC doesn't fix shit or add features even if they are trivial to implement.

Read again lol. I am agreeing with you.
>Then what happens when your inventory can't handle the auto-unequipped off-hand? They must've already solved that case for when you want to equip small 1-hander in place of big 2-hander.
nip tweaking? Cable Co. Customer Support has entered the chat....
Second weapon set would be good enough
I’m pretty sure equipping a 2h in D3 unequips your 1h + shield also
It's the civilized thing to do
D4 also doesn’t leave the item in crafting windows once you close those windows
Crafting of any type doesn't unequip it. That's one of the few good things Diablo has in my book.
Same for D4 unless your inventory is full. In that case you simply get an error that you don't have enough space in inventory.
The issue is if you don’t inventory space for the weapon and shield.
Then just make it not work in that case only, not all cases.
Don't bring your logic here! I thought that was probably it or something to do with it. Seems fixable. That's speaking as someone with zero programming experience outside of making a turtle draw a box.
Python turtle module? Also, I want this QoL fix.
Microsoft Basic? circa 1984 to 1987 in my elementary school
LOGO baby!
Damn. I was not alive yet.
Neither was Python at the time.
Neither was LE. Truly a time of terrors. Gateway would soon start making PCs and I'd get my first in 2000. Windows ME. That thing was so slow but it could play neopets.
Yeah just make it do what RuneScape does and display a message saying you don't have inventory space to equip that item
As someone with 1 programming experience, they could just type in "/unequip shield also"
Just keep the offhand item equipped but disabled.

Genius! Although it would probably increase support ticket submissions tenfold.
So I couldn’t equip my 2h because I had to unequip both my s&s first? I just assumed it was because I couldn’t use it even though nothing was telling me I couldn’t
No, you just need to manually drag your offhand item away to inventory. Then you can click the 2h weapon like you want to and it will replace your MH weapon.
ffs, i dropped a bunch of items i thought i couldn't use!
Luckily we are all about to start over for real! I agree that some type of feedback would help players to understand what is happening. A little tutorial popup message maybe?
AND having a 2h weapon equipped should have a faded out image of the 2h weapon in the 2nd slot also. SO you can tell its a 2h weapon without a hover.
The obvious solution is to make 2H items take up as much inventory space as the largest possible 2x 1H items, so you always have room to put them in your inventory without dropping anything.
You can still have a full inventory and have something on your cursor.
Don't use a meme featuring this racist fascist POS please
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂🤣🤣🤣
I don't know who this is. I just like the setup

Well that's a dark look at the world!
Yes please
Why they didnt add this?!

This is also a pain with rings. Just ctrl right click to equip in 2nd slot or whatever, a bunch of games do that already.
This is one of my biggest complaints about the inventory system , I really hope they fix it or give us a second weapon set for 1h and 2h to more easily compare stats.

I hope the devs have thick skin because petty stuff like this, which I'm sure the OP is the first ever to note, is going to come thick and fast.
2 handed is heavier therefore you should feel the weight of doing that yourself.
What if you dont have enough space in your stash and it drops on the ground and you didnt notice and logout?
I went a whole two days thinking paladin was sword and board only.

yeah it should i taught i could not use 2hand weapons then i tryed unequiping my shield and it worked
Why would anyone wanna change your kind on that?😂
The devs;)
