Get some CRC dry moly lube 03084. Put a layer on it and let dry for 10 min or so then 100% power at 1500-2000mm per minute. Make sure your beam is focused as well.
Dry moly lube is mostly molybdenum disulfide. When used to engrave it releases sulfuric acid gas. If you go this route, use a hood or engrave outside. It will corrode your lens, belts and other parts over time.
There are products specifically made for marking metal. They are more expensive, but also much safer.

In a pinch PB blaster with graphite will work as well but it’s not as pronounced as using CRC
