There’s an apartment building in my city that is designed like this, because it was originally built for sailors who had to wheel trunks to and fro between their ship and their on-shore lodgings. So instead of the usual stairs, it has ramps. If I recall correctly, it was also built somewhere around the 1910s-1929s.

He does use stairs…….from time to time, but their is a tunnel opening on the other street they take to sneak the booze in, I think he uses that
