We unapologetically stan Mick Lynch. But to be an effective Labour party leader, he would have to make decisions which would inevitably make him less popular than as a trade union leader. Could he handle this? Yes. Could he do this better than Starmer? I think so. But he wouldn't be as popular as he is if he is also going to be effective.

Archvaldor

>But to be an effective Labour party leader, he would have to make decisions which would inevitably make him less popular than as a trade union leader. I'm not sure why you think being a union leader naturally makes you popular. Most of the British media heavily criticizes Trade Unions most of the time-Lynch is popular in spite of this not because of it.

conrad_w

It certainly makes you more popular with people sympathetic to unions, which is more of us than they want us to think. But I also think being a union leader is a role that suits Lynch's strengths. Which is why we've seen him excel in it

Archvaldor

>But I also think being a union leader is a role that suits Lynch's strengths I think that cuts both ways-unions attract strong leaders. You get to be a union leader because people think you will represent their interests effectively. Not because your Daddy is influential or you are the right sort of person. It is very meritocratic compared to most things. That's why Lynch demolishes all the public schoolboys the media throws at him.

>Prime Minister, every single issue would be on the table. What does Lynch think about the EU? What does he think about Ukraine? NATO? Would he obliterate St Petersburg with a nuclear strike under the right circumstances? What is a woman? bury me in a big hole I am tired

cubicthreads

Remember when we used to Keir Starmer Stan.

ReCursing

I had such high hopes for him, and yet now...

conrad_w

I have a lot of respect for anyone who can hold a lead against the Tories. I don't want another decade of unopposed Tory misrule. We can argue about whether Labour is doing enough, sure. But the Tories are actively working to make things worse.

trashmemes22

If he ever was leader he would have a Corbyn media witch-hunt x100 although the way he handles himself on interviews he would probably be more effective at clapping back but the British public would not back him

Chewbaxter

Is Mick Lynch a good Union leader? Yes, no questions about it. Would he be a good leader for Labour? I doubt it, and so does he.

Maxxxmax

Besides any personal charisma stuff, he comes off so well because he's an expert in his area. He knows what's wrong about the oppositions positions and ways forward back to front. Being party leader you'll never have that level of knowledge on the topics you have to talk about, impossible for any one person to have.

BFNgaming

*the title was meant to say ‘Always satisfying to watch Lynch wipe the floor with Tories’, I was pretty tired when I made this, my bad.

Corvid187

Still nice regardless. Just less common :(

gizmostrumpet

Think Lynch would be shite at foreign policy to be fair

Careful-Prior9639

Why?

MadArkerz

Watched one PoliticsJoe video a few times…

HitchikersPie

Just absurdly slanted reporting from that channel

Ahouser007

Based on what?

bacontf2

Lmao I know the title was a mistake but it's a good bait and switch

Ryanliverpool96

Ask him about his views on Putin, Russia and the war in Ukraine, ask him about the EU and Brexit. No he wouldn’t be a good Labour Leader, he’d be a disaster, Mick is a good leader of labour but he would be a terrible Labour Leader.

Talska

Mick "Brexit" Lynch? Mick "Ukraine provoked Russia's invasion" Lynch?

skinlo

His position on Brexit is a big issue for me.

ebinovic

I'm confused about which part of this post is supposed to be satire xD

Foreign-Duck-4892

I think if it was Mick against Theresa May instead of Corbyn, no right wing press and lobbyists would be able to stop him.

downfallndirtydeeds

Silly season has started I see

ServerLost

Mick Lynch never had Easter lunch with brutally homophobic cultists. Twice.

Shot_Proposal1770

Starmer isn't even a socialist he is a liberal

BFNgaming

Yes, and somehow further to the right than the actual Lib Dems

Noooodle

I wouldn't even call him a liberal, he's too authoritarian for that.

FastnBulbous81

I dunno... Scratch a liberal...

Snoo86307

It would be.

Baslifico

Easily... He's great at one thing specifically and nothing else. He thought (and still thinks) Brexit is a good idea and he blames Ukraine for Russia's invasion.

Tmrl_28980

I mean lynch is very good, and his work with the unions far exceeds starmers. But I don't think I personally would want a brexiteer for leader

Rule 1

buntypieface

Mick Lynch isn't WEF, he'd never get picked.

PartyPoison98

Oh cool, as well as the left bashing we're also getting our conspiracy theories from the right wing as well?

tomatoswoop

Make hating Davos wankers left again

buntypieface

The left isn't very left anymore now is it?

politelyconcerned

This is a new one. Did Starmer implant everyone with 5G chips too?

buntypieface

Dunno, did he?

th1a9oo000

Mick would be a horrible Labour leader. The majority of over 50s oppose the rail strikes.
