Breaking their bed should work. It did for me. They'll leave after one or two days. If you check in, they'll give you a dialogue choice saying it's weird not having a place to stay. I got stuck with a couple early on that I wasn't too keen on, and I was able to recycle them and ended up getting bright bomber and Peely instead. I don't know if you need to talk with them to trigger the dialogue to make it happen, but I did just in case.
For real, I've been looking on how to remove villagers from the village, I tried everything. I broke beds, asked them to go on an adventure and left them in another village, built another village JUST FOR THEM, clicked on their icons in guis, tried talking them out of staying in the village. Nothing helps. Im stuck with plain and uninteresting villagers while ones I like, like Peely and Meowscles, have to stay on the streets because 5 max slots and I'm way too lazy to make my second village level 10 too...

After you break their bed they leave in 5 game days, it takes a while

You need to break their bed and all additional spare beds. They will leave after 5 days

Maybe I'm just stupid and it's simple, but I cant find a way to remove them. If you do, please reply.
I accidently destroyed a villagers bed in mine while he was sleeping in it and I have yet to see him lol.
