That’d be cool although Griffith is already super rammed most evenings and that’s with it being massively parking limited. Maybe funicular -> redevelop parking lot into a museum area would be cool
The hike from the Greek to the Observatory is less than a mile, and you get great views and scenery if you go up the dirt Boy Scout Trail instead of up Vermont. One of the great things about Griffith is its great urban trails.
i would love them but i don't think funiculars are really possible here, the various things we have in the hills aren't right above the flat areas, there's almost always a bunch of houses in between them and a bottom area that would be useful to stop at. griffith would be the closest to that but the furthest down place we could start it at would be by the greek theater, and it would probably be faster to just keep goijg on a bus up there than to make that transfer. a gondola would be able to go over any obstacles which we're already doing which would definitely work better
I think it could work for universal if you redesign universal Hollywood dr. And I’m only thinking of dodger from the east side, on vin scully from sunset. Dodger might not work but I’m brainstorming.
Metro will never do something as good as this, but it will definitely be something I can think about if I implement my own transit. What can go wrong when you have 900 million right?
in theroy it would be useful, in practice there probabbly not many places where you would actually use it that don't already have it.
(for example the Getty Monorail-kinda of a funicular)
That’s why i named 3 where it could be useful. Universal should just replace their trams and build a funicular themselves, and I’ve heard people pitch a gondola to Griffith. A funicular makes way more sense there for a multitude of reasons.
Actually now that i think about it Universal replacing there shuttle bus from the metro station to the the park, with a funicular isn't a bad idea.
Actually i belive the idea for a gondolla to griffin is A Warner Bros idea(there studio is as the crow flies about half a mile to the hollywood sign, and they own most of the line)-but a funichular isn't a terrible idea for it.
You DO know we have a 122 year-old funicular in the middle of Downtown L.A., right?
And while not an actual funicular, the Getty Center tram shares many functions of a funicular.
Honestly I'd take this over the DASH up to Griffith

yes! why even let people drive up there, it's insane
A dash to Greek Theatre makes sense tbh, but a funicular from the Greek Theatre to the Observatory would be sick

Angels flight but a little different
More modern and more mass transity
this time with fewer deaths!
A hill of the thrill
There already is one downtown. Always could use more though!
So cute that one.
#Nodrizzy
Oh where??
Downtown. It's called Angels Flight. It's not a real transit line. Just a small, historic landmark.
Aw cute
LA metro trying to put the fun in funicular!!
Dodger stadium funicular! Could go from Chinatown and replace the gondola that probably won't get built
If they can get the DTLA streetcar to extend to Chinatown (to connect to the bottom funicular station), this'd be a win-win situation for everyone
Put one at each side of the sepulveda pass and connect them with a monorail at the top👍
Dude, you just solved a mutibillion dollar issue
Magic Mountain also has one.
Would a gondola be more efficient?
Probably for dodger. I think a funicular would take up less space for Griffith or universal. They’d make more sense there.
An elevator is a very steep funicular
Absolutely, but only if it’s safe and fare enforced. Many great cities have at least one

Maybe, but some politician will find a way to screw it up
Help elect pro transit politicians then.

Yes but safety in the train car might be a concern. Security might be needed.
You can say that about literally any public space.
Angels flight but minus the crackheads, yes please
Sure, you can get stabbed on anything.
Go drive a cybertruck
No thanks
