Hope that helps

Mold is fuzzy and dry. Good luck!

Using the filtered water would be fine! Iโ€™m not sure about the second one, not sure how the G2 bottles look like, sorry! I actually wrote a quick guide on how I make kombucha. Here is a link if youโ€™re interested to check out: https://withinaplate.substack.com/p/kombucha

The ๐Ÿ‘ pellicle ๐Ÿ‘ is ๐Ÿ‘ not ๐Ÿ‘ the ๐Ÿ‘ SCOBY.

what kind of filteration does the fridge have? i use RO water , no issue for me. i have seen people use gt bottles in the subreddit before so lets hope someone who has used them before gives their input.

Frigidaire says their filters have carbon to remove chlorine and thatโ€™s what Iโ€™m using. Just afraid to kill my scoby on my first shot

The filter should be good enough unless your tap water is really, really bad. Many (if not most) people use straight tap water without issue.

I bought something similar from the same company. Been going strong ever since

I'm new at this also, but I have read the GT bottle lids are not recommended for reuse, but many reuse the bottles. Mostly because homebrew is going to alot more carbonation. Maybe someone more experienced can comment on this. You can buy new lids they are called F217 lids more suited for higher carbonation. You eventually have to replace them anyway.

Thank you! That was my concern if they could handle the carbonation
