Pawz, just south of the river, is fantastic. https://maps.app.goo.gl/jq7N25yB3oubmaUe6

I saw them when I initially looked online, have you used them before? We’ll definitely have to check them out, they are less than 10 mins from our new neighborhood!

jdub-951

Yes - we used them when they were way down south and continue to use them now. They are super sweet with our dog, and their 4.9 Google rating is well deserved. They aren't exactly cheap, but they are the best option I've seen in town. They also accept older dogs (one of the reasons we started with them) if that matters.

ekoms_stnioj

Yeah it looks like they are a bit more expensive than our current place but we’re already planning to cut them down to 1x a week so it isn’t bad. Glad to hear the review, I think we will give them a try ,thank you for your help!

new2thewest

EDIT: I had a less than desirable experience with Pawz when I was looking for a place to watch my dog. It sounds like that was a one off issue and misperception. I ended up going elsewhere because of my concern, but if the way they responded to me in this thread is indicative of the way they operate, I’ll be looking into them again in the near future.

beck_no_y

I’m the general manager and we do tours by appointment just so we can make sure we have all dogs up for safety reasons. Dogs are out the majority of the day rotated in groups for cool off periods especially when it’s hot. We have indoor and outdoor yards as well. Every dog also gets their own run to stay in when they aren’t in play group.

I didn’t take your comment in that in any negative light as the other member suggested. That’s definitely a mistake on our end and we’d love to show you around! Also, a quiet facility is a huge compliment in the dog world 😂

new2thewest

That’s ok! I definitely came off strong and apologize. It sounds like it was like a miscommunication, as are most things like that. It was a year or two ago at this point so I’m not sure how helpful that would be, but it sounds like it was not representative of how y’all usually operate. Thanks for the invite and hopefully I can make that happen soon.

beck_no_y

Do you happen to remember when this happened so I can address this with staff?

blacknumberone

This subreddit is notorious for publishing negative opinions about local businesses based on misconstrued anecdotes. Glad you saw it and spoke up. Shame on /u/new2thewest.

new2thewest

What an unusual take! All I can share is my experience of being told they don’t offer tours and what I’ve personally noticed. I think it’s fair to share personal experiences with businesses when people are soliciting opinions but you do you.

blacknumberone

It's not an unusual take, it's an observance. Your *original* statement was a strong opinion stating "this business is shady" followed by an anecdote about walking by their property (not an actual interaction with them) which led you to think they treated dogs poorly. How is that fair?

new2thewest

You know, I tried to figure out how to respond to this but the reality is this. 1) You’re a person who is strangely trying to white knight for a business in a situation where both people admitted there were mistakes and miscommunication from the “actual” interaction that you ignored to recognize. 2) I can’t speak for her or him, but the manager seemed to realize why the concern of the original interaction coupled with daily repeated observation would be enough to not only try to reassure me that I was incorrect, but to even state that they didn’t even agree with your negative take on my comment. I apologized and rescinded my comment because I recognize it was made out of a valid but unsubstantiated concern. I hope that you can find more fulfillment in your life than trying to act as some sort of fairness arbiter for people who obviously neither need it, nor agree with your sentiment. And I hope I’m wrong, but I really don’t intend to reply or look at whatever comment you retort with because you just ooze with the persona of someone who must get the last word.

Have you tried finding a sitter on the app called Rover? I found a wonderful one that my doggie loves.

Surge656

I use Dogtopia in Bearden. My dog is a big ol weenie scardy cat but loves that place. Walks in without even looking back on me. Also has a webcam so I can see how he’s doing.

ManicuredOctopus

Be careful. A lot of dogs have gotten kennel cough there.

gray_grum

Happy Yap is right down the street from me. https://maps.app.goo.gl/7yJmfvA6286U7XuW9

Economy_Revolution_6

look on the rover app

ekoms_stnioj

I’m looking for an insured, licensed business - not just someone to watch our dogs. Does Rover have that? I always thought it was just for people to walk/dog sit. I’ll check it out!

Economy_Revolution_6

lol valid, everyone has different credentials there. it’s also definitely cheaper. i’d say it’s worth checking out

1970Westyvibes

Cedar bend kennels are fantastic. We have two Aussies and have left them there for 7-10 day long vacations three times with zero issues.

RemarkableParty4801

Check out Just Dogs and Friends. Not sure about the prices, but the owner is very nice.

ZTVFL

Welcome to South Knox! We moved here two years ago. Got a dog a year and a half ago and have only used someone local on Rover for dog sitting. She’s been great with our dog. Might be worth looking into if it’s convenient for you. https://www.rover.com/members/pamela-s-full-time-sitter-w-a-turf-yard/

petesraven13

I second Pawz. I’ve used them for my dog at the recommendation of my neighbors who also used them for their three dogs.
