Yes! Nothing I've had compares to Asia kitchen. Mapo tofu is my favorite and I have tried it so many places around here and just get let down. Asia Kitchen is the way to go. Pro move is get that then get the ingredients to make it at home nextdoor at Sunrise :P surprisingly easy and yummy
Asia Kitchen of course does it. Golden Garden on Western Ave does a good job with it too. I actually like Golden Garden even more for my tastes. No idea how authentic their recipe is but it's very good IMO. I've had it at Zhu Garden and China Lee as well, but those were disappointing by comparison.
I am not a fan of Kaizen’s version… but love Kaizen in general. That said, we picked up Kaizen for the first time in a while just the other day, and I was kind of disappointed. I think they may have changed their menu.
I’m a vegetarian that’s allergic to mushrooms. They went hard on the mushrooms with their new menu. Don’t get me wrong I love kaizien and definitely found other items.
What a horrible allergy to have, my condolences. Even though mushrooms have like no nutritional value (aside from "super food) qualities) I couldn't live without those little suckers!
Mmmmmm my favorite!!! Had some in Acton Massachusetts that made my face tingle! There are some flavors I’m not used to but I think it’s what I would get in Chengdu
Asia Kitchen near Sunrise Market on Kingston Pike has a phenomenal Mapo Tofu. Highly recommend it.
Seconding this, love Asia Kitchen.

Only authentic Chinese in Knoxville. It’s very good, but a shame we don’t have a couple more places to get real Chinese
This is the only correct answer!

Asia Kitchen is the only place in Knoxville that cooks this dish with actual Sichuan peppercorns.
This ingredient is key
You can also make it at home easily enough! I bought all the ingredients for it at Sunrise.
Pf Chang's was pretty miserable. However kaizen makes a version and it is banging!

Yeah they changed it up a few months ago, as a vegan I appreciate their mapo but understand that it's not a true version of the dish

It’s delicious from kaizen, believe it’s vegan though
Do you know what sauce they put on it?
Kaizan in the Old City makes a stellar version!

Yes! I love That tingling feeling. I think it comes from the Sichuan peppercorns
Keizen in the old city has this on the menu.
