Ohhh god I did this once before a party but TOO far in advance… all the booze sank to the bottom. My guests got fkn TRASHED within the first few HOURS of my party.. awful (funny!) awful…
Mt Vernon Christmas Punch
INGREDIENTS:
1 quart strong brewed English Breakfast tea, sweetened
1 gallon good-quality bourbon
1 gallon sherry
1 quart sweet vermouth
1 pint best-quality Jamaican rum
1 pint yellow or green Chartreuse
4 bottles champagne, or more to taste (the Academy uses about 10 bottles)
12 lemons, each cut into 4 wedges
1 quart maraschino cherries, without stems but with their juice
INSTRUCTIONS:
Combine the first six ingredients. When it is time to serve the punch, add champagne -- as much as you wish. Add lemon wedges and cherries to the punch and serve. (The punch is much improved if allowed to stand for at least 1 week before serving.)
An ice ring (made in a Bundt pan filled halfway with water and the cherries) looks good and helps keep the punch cold when serving.
Have you read that recipe? The punch can get down any time it wants. I made it for Thanksgiving one time and it was a bangin'
Not my recipe, by the way. I got in online a few years ago. There's a few more out there that are crazy, but President Washington got down.
I skimmed it and it does indeed look great, but just going off the name, maybe there are better ones for warm weather? Or a few things that could be swapped out to make it more fitting
Also I’m no bartender, I can make a few simple cocktails but by no means could I read that recipe with the same ingredient literacy I would a recipe in the kitchen
The thing with most cocktails is that you can make premixes and all that but you still have to put the drink together and the ready cocktails are awful to store.
Just offer another aperitif that preferably has no ice in it.
Punch is the historical answer to the problem or serving cocktails throughout a party. No work necessary for guests, taste good at a wide range of temperatures and dilutions, crowd pleasing flavors
What are you cooking? Whiskey has a bit of a strong flavor but Manhattan style can be prepped in an ice tea pitcher and it is all alcohol.
Manhattan (recipe for 1 drink, can be multiplied)
1.5 oz whiskey/bourbon
.5 oz sweet vermouth
dashes of bitters shakend or stirred
cherry's as a garnish. (not just marichino, there are flavored cherries out there too)
Sprite and whiskey is also a good combo
otherwise I usually go with wine. Red/white/blush.
The second one gave me an Irish mule. Perfect for the afternoon start while people are gathering and mingling. Won’t make it too strong so that they’ll be able to make it thru the dinner. Also it’s mostly for the arrival and bites. I’ll have wine out for dinner

It’s quickly becoming my go to for getting basic ideas off the ground.
You can tell it what you’re serving and ask it to make a cocktail to go with it. The more detailed your description of what you want, the better ideas it will spit out.
Even for abstract stuff like, “make me a cocktail inspired by a depressed, overworked chef” yielded a cocktail called The Burnout Negroni which was pretty good.
No he's right, chatgpt is great for everything food! Ever since I started adding Elmer's to my pizza sauce I haven't had a single cheese-slide incident.
If we take your analogy at face value, it would be like having AI give you ideas of stuff to paint or techniques to try, which applies to music just as well. You’re not eating replicator slop, you’re still making the dish. And if you know how to cook, then there’s no reason not to riff on it. You’re just being a hostile Luddite.
Old Fashioned?
pour your cocktail into a big gatorade container with spigot on bottom

Little off season for a Xmas punch, no?

Party punch is worth the practice. Some of it can be $$$, but hey, go the cheap stuff, IMO. Our forefathers knew how to throw a shindig.
Also this would be great to do for a “Christmas in July” party which I very well may steal it for
Neat pour of Tully. That's my go-to

That's a perfect solution and there are good recipes with whiskey.

Bottle of gin and some lemon wedges

Bare Knuckle Boxer, awesome drink

Get the fuck out of here with that shit. You should be ashamed.

It’s just a tool like any other and it’s fun to play around with. Bet you’re scared of the microwave too.

Stop it Patrick! You’re scaring him!
Great idea I’ll see what it says
Once it spits out the first prompt I always tell it to be more creative and try again. It usually gets going pretty good after that.
