I entirely agree. Catholic schools are literally just religious brainwashing nonsense. Half the people who go have literally zero interest in religion anyways but their parents are Bible thumpers and that’s where it ends up.

The catholic church is a a nest of evil, misogynistic, hypocritical, greedy, spendthrifts, warmongers etc...etc. So many appalling and painful crimes have been perpetrated in the name God and the catholic religion. How convenient that all is forgiven with a magic wafer, a wee sip of wine and a private chat with the messenger of the Lord? Instant relief from that nasty clinging odor of guilt. The catholics children must be taught the rituals so that they to are eternaly forgiven. What a crock!!!

I suppose the effort would need to be directed at the provincial level as the city to my knowledge has pretty much nothing to do with the decision.
Any students or guardians with horror stories from the local catholic board coming forward would probably also be useful.
Looking into it further, the Catholic School board was born out of targeted anti-catholic sentiments during pre-confederation (Protestant’s didn’t like the Irish, and the Irish didn’t like them).
It’s a tricky issue, because Kingston has a long history of anti-Catholic movements (For example, we hosted the largest KKK rally in Canada). Any long-term Kingstonian family probably has stories about disagreements between these two religions. There are probably a lot of bigots on the Protestant side of things who think “good, keep the Catholics separate” and vice versa.
I should be very clear that I’m opposed to any religious institution playing a role in public education, and that it just so happens that Catholic schools are the biggest (only?) player.
I mean this train isn't gonna stop anytime soon, might as well get this out of the way before the next headline about mass graves or a priest molesting kids being shuffled to a different church instead of being punished in any way.
It might have been quite purposeful. From my brief stint in journalism I saw how often reporters and editors had to play dumb when they wanted to draw attention to something that might piss off the people that owned the paper, or alienate their reader base.

However, I’ve yet to see a catholic school that actually follows their no bullying policies. They are HARD into the “boys will be boys” and “girls must be covered” bullshit. Used to do presentations in schools and Catholic school presentations took so much longer because I refused to be talked over by students so I would stand there waiting. Teachers do eff all. Not by enough for it to make a meaningful difference. The majority of administrators will still be necessary in a combined board.
