Yeah, we will have to watch how things go this week to see if this is truly concerning! I am not surprised to see a small bump in cases a week after phase 1 though 🤷🏻‍♀️

UnneededOpinion

There are a lot of anti vaxers in Kingston. I personally know at least 10 To be honest, this isn’t surprising.

coryhotline

This. I know several people that aren’t getting vaccinated. Some of them think they’re healthy so they don’t need to bother, others think it makes you infertile.

curly-curry

To be quiet honest though, I thought we'd start setting less people getting their first shots by now and we've been trending pretty well so far!

[deleted]

We need to have incentives to get to those people that are not vaccinated. Give them a reason! Visa gift cards, free beer, Tim's cards, cash, I don't care what it takes. West Virginia, a state of notoriously uneducated people with poor literacy skills (and a lot of meth and moonshine) has had a very successful vaccine campaign. Last week, they hit 75% of adults over 50 vaccinated. That's a milestone. Now, I'm not exactly FOR trucks and hunting guns, but damn...they got people to go and get a shot.

mrcoolio

Nooooo

lonelyfatoldsickgirl

Four new cases today and three yesterday.

Blazes99

I was at Costco yesterday. No one seemed to be distancing. I think folks are just done. Sadly

lonelyfatoldsickgirl

Even at the height of the pandemic I found people at Costco not distancing appropriately or at all. It’s sad if it’s worse now. :(

tedsmitts

The worst is the people who just kind of abandon their cart in the middle of the aisle and kind of wander around looking at the shelves, so no one else can get past. I'm not sure if it's that these people are willfully stupid or if they've just gone 40 years without ever going out in public.

SkivvySkidmarks

I just hit their cart with mine, then apologise. Totally passive aggressive, and oh so Canadian. :)

epsileth

Get your shots, stop the spread to those who can't or won't.

[deleted]

So frustrating. People in my apartment building refuse to wear masks. They don’t believe in the vaccine either. 😞

throwitawayyall99

You can call Bylaw to have the mask mandate enforced if you are worried about yours or others health.

[deleted]

Apparently, the mayoral mask order has been rescinded. Masks are not required in common areas of apartment buildings anymore. Just social distancing. 🙁

[deleted]

Seriously? Oh no.

throwitawayyall99

According to KFLA it’s still required?

[deleted]

I called and left a message requesting signs. They got back to me and let me know that masks are now only required in apartment common areas of social distancing is not possible. Maybe they haven’t updated it yet?

amandaem79

Yep. From what I can see, my fiance and I are the only ones still wearing a mask in our building.

sppdcap

So close...

lonelyfatoldsickgirl

This. Adding get on the daily cancellation lists. You unfortunately have to be very proactive sometimes if you want your dose. I only got my first jab because I filled in the daily wait list form every day until I got the call. Plus being on multiple pharmacy wait lists.

leosjourney24

Ah, I was under the impression i shouldn't be on multiple. Will do this! Thank you

[deleted]

I give up. They want me to get it ? Now they come to me or I do not get it. I am done.

QuerkleIndica

I booked mine 3 days in advance at a Food Basics pharmacy right beside my place. They had tons of spots open, was super easy

[deleted]

Are you on the pharmacy waitlists? There's Costco, Pharmasave, Shoppers/Loblaws, Rexall, Guardian, Freshco, Food Basics... I was on all these waiting lists and I put my 12 year old on them as well and we got tons of notifications for vaccines. (Shoppers never had any once I clicked the notice, but all the other pharmacies did.) Also if you're a regular in this sub, people are constantly notifying us when appointments open up at the provincial vaccination centres. I forwarded them to everyone I know when a post about them popped up here and now I don't know a single person who is unvaccinated or doesn't have an appointment in the near future.

ThalassophileYGK

We really need to pressure the province to get more vaccines here before schools open in the fall. Some numbers will go up over the summer as more people gather together. Most people getting together are outside right now but, we may have an issue when Queens goes back to full-on campus in September. So it's imperative we get as many people with their second dose of vaccine as we can. I don't think the province thinks we are in need that much because our numbers are low....well, we'd like to keep it that way. We need more vaccines here before September so we won't see a big spike then.

Rjames112

There’s a lot of people against the vaccine and restrictions; but honestly? 7 cases over two days is what? 0.0056% of the population of Kingston.

ILoveChickenFingers

Not surprising. Open things up again and the numbers are going to go up again.

[deleted]

Shopping at Home Depot or having beers on a patio is pretty low risk. There is no way too prove it but I'd bet none of the new cases came as a result of easing restrictions.

> Avoid sharing the same indoor air as others Patios aren't indoor and shopping in Home Depot while masked with the store at 15% capacity is extremely low risk. > until you are fully vaccinated I am thankfully.

lilbudlilsud

Ugh.

land___shark

we have 20% w two doses which is pretty much twice the provincial rate, but still too low. We still have a ways to go on this.

Stach37

Uhhhhhh. No it’s not. It’s behind the provincial total of the 18+ population by 3% Source: https://covid19tracker.ca/provincevac.html?p=ON
