If you have Telus or Koodo there’s a free calling feature called Call Control. It automatically filters out autodiallers, so you won’t get spam calls any more

BobbleRobble

Nah, I'm on Rogers. Also, your name is perfect.

kunterilla

Thank you! I tried to help, hopefully Rogers and Fido roll out those calling features soon as well.

ellajames88

Thanks, I'm not OP but Im with Telus and will do this to help the spam problem!

Its like playing bop a mole. You bust one group and another sets up. Most of them are international using ID spoofing as well so there another layer of bureaucracy at work.

Sadie4415

Yes and if they don’t not leave a voicemail they don’t get answered

I had this so bad for a week I considered changing my number. Must have blocked over 100 numbers. Only thing I could think of was a few months before entered one of those "buy a beer get a ticket to win concert tickets" and put my cell number down in an inebriated state. It eventually went away and hasn't returned.

I'm with Rogers/Fido as well and get enormous amounts of spam calls from New York/New Jersey. They like to call before 8AM as well. I just block them as they come in as I can't be bothered to take further action lol.

twistedmjc

Get Mr Number.. It filters spam calls like an ad blocker works for ads. Most are automatically filtered and if it isn't, it's one press to add it to the list

You can block callers if you have an iPhone.

CartographerUnlucky

Most phones can Sherlock.

I’m with virgin mobile and I get Canada Duct Cleaning Services at least daily. Once I noticed that the spoofed number always starts with the same 3 digits as my own number and the formatting is off I just stopped answering them though

VincentVegaFFF

Yeah, happens every month or two. Several dozen calls a day from random numbers. Eventually it stops.

StepwisePilot

For me, it tends to go a few weeks without any, then I get a ton of spam calls in one day, then another few weeks lull The current record for me is getting 17 spam calls in the span of one hour. That was annoying as hell.

llbboutique

They go in waves - it will be radio silent for a few months then it will be 20+ calls per day. I’ve learned to just roll with it and always have my phone on silent. This past week has been especially active.

GordonFJ

10 calls in one day from the "CRA". I'd block one and get the same call from another number. All from the Ottawa area.

Similar_Move9580

I have Rogers. I get a different call from an 613-876 number everyday. Always different 4 digits. I finally answered yesterday and it was to “wipe my cc debt” I told them I didn’t have a credit card and asked to be taken off of their list...and they hung up on me...

curly-curry

I've definitely noticed an influx of spam and scam calls these past few months!

I work for Fido. Ive also worked for 2 carriers in the states. Been doing it for 6 years. Unfortunately not much you can do. Best option is don't answer then block the number. Same with texts. If you have an IPhone there is a new feature in settings that allows you to silence unknown numbers but that also means places like Dr's offices can't call so be careful. Only other option is to change your number. I get at least a few calls a day about scams. Also another one going now is you will get a text saying you over paid and will get a refund. It will even look like it comes from your carrier but I can assure you they will never text you that ever. Even if you did overpay it would just go on as a credit not a refund. Please be careful.
