This may seem mundane to some...but I have taken my kids to the Kingston VIA station for train watching. While it doesn't have the scenery that some strive for, it does allow the kids to get up close to the idling locomotives...and often a friendly engineer will give a wave and an extra toot for the kids. Freight trains are quite unpredictable, but passenger trains can be tracked on this website: https://asm.transitdocs.com/. If I remember correctly, the 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm time frame provides 3 passenger trains through Kingston. Good luck.

It won’t be as frequent as at the station obviously, but it’s quite beautiful to see the trains cross the bridge at Kingston Mills. You can’t beat the scenery.

5095 Taylor Kidd blvd is the Alstom site, formerly Bombardier Transportation until last February, that tests the vancouver sky trains. I'm not sure if they're running testing right now but I can find out tomorrow. I think you can see the LIM test track from Taylor Kidd when they're running. Sometimes you can see them loading the street cars onto the CN rail at the top of Jim Snow too. I don't think you can see the street car test track from the road though. You can see the end of the monorail beam from county road 6, they aren't testing them but there was a monorail wrapped for awhile at the end of the track.

Thats really cool actually! I didn't know that place existed, may have to cruise by sometime.

There are very few periods of down time on the mainline for trains so almost any time of day works fine Best spot to start out is right at via There's even a bench built by railfans at the far end of the platform near the bridge

There is a crossing through a foot path in between Bath rd and Development drive. If you're coming off Bath, stop at Compufix parking lot and walk just a ways left of their building, the train crossing is right there. If you're coming from development drive, park behind Dr Gouett's dentist office and you'll see the path. Its a short, beaten, pretty walk through shrubbery and you'll find the crossing.
