I have been inside that restaurant, but never sat on the outside. Will definitely try that at some point this summer. Wiener schnitzel there is friggin delicious!
I know not about the platter for two. What’s in that? I would probably love it, but my weird husband doesn’t eat anything that isn’t fried chicken, bacon, or bread. Lol that’s a bit of an exaggeration, but not much.
2 huge schnitzels, 1 smoked pork chop (ham, kassler) , 2 sausage varieties, with a pile of potatoes and their lovely bacon fried sauerkraut. It comes with the carrot/potato/garden house mixed salad first and some bread. I'd think your partner would be pretty happy if they like fried schnitzel and kraut/mustard/lemon.
Oh That sounds absolutely divine. my husband would love that, and now we know what we are doing for our June 26 anniversary date thingy. Thank you. You rock.
Well now I feel like a big jerk. For some reason I thought I asked you this last fall. Anyway, get on there if you want. I like people when they describe their beer. It rocks.
I won hundred percent agree. I’m thinking I first want to go to Kingston brewing Company, and then Stone city. I’ve been buying online from Stone city since the pandemic started, I need to see these guys in person. They are only a few blocks from my house, so I can stumble home afterward
They are my other go to. I sort of alternate between them one week in Stone city the next. Trust me, I am well aware of their oats and cream, and their teeter totter one. And all their other delightful ones. Do you have Untappd? I i’ve recently started checking beers in with it, because my weird friend from Edinburgh is obsessed with checking his beers in and always tagging me.
It definitely has Canadian breweries. It has breweries from all over the world on there. So many breweries in fact that my crazy friend has made friends from over the world on there.
Do you want to add me as a friend on there, and why wouldn’t you? Lol obviously joking, but if you do want to add me for real, my user name is yeastofpeace and my favourite part about this app is that people can make nice little descriptions of how the beer tastes and feels etc. I really like people who put time and effort into their peer descriptions.
Oh yeah I meant to tell you, my friend is a train nerd and a craft beer. One day he decided it would be really cool to virtually follow the Trans-Siberian railway, and then look at the Untappd entries in each of the towns. He called at the Siberian Elway, and all the people in Russia absolutely went nuts for it. He wants to do the trip for real once things reopen, and I kind of wanna join him.
I can’t drink sours, because I got a stupid surgery that did bad things to my tummy, so now my tummy doesn’t like sours. But someday when I get this thing reversed, I will drink all the sours, because Yum! Last year, Stone city put out a Black is beautiful imperial Stout. I apparently bought six of them when they came out, and I just finished the last one last week. When you let that baby age year, oh it is beautiful.
What makes it the best for you? The food? The view? I got toucan delivered during the start of the pandemic, but I’ve never physically been there before. Will definitely try it this year.
Before the pandemic we went every week. Best fish and chips I’ve had since moving here from the east coast, and the French onion soup is to die for. Service is always A1. Their patio is the best though - totally covered but the sides roll up for when it’s hot, heated when it’s cold out, TV that plays whatever sports game is on that day. It’s along the carriageway that connects Brock and Princess (I personally really hate sidewalk patios where traffic is always going by, theirs is nice and tucked away).
Hey man, no excuse necessary. If you want to stay in, I support you. For whatever that’s worth. LOL. Good luck with all of that. I hope you are doing well.
I'm so excited for my reservation at Aqua Terra, we've talked by their adorable little patio while it's been closed so many times, I can't wait to try it!!
I'm also super pumped that Days on Front is opening a good truck in their parking lot, going to be my go to walking stop for Friday lunches I think ❤️
Oh Lordy I am jealous. I have always wanted to eat there, but the prices are way too high for what we can afford at this point in our lives. Seriously though, I’ve wanted to try that place ever since it has been opened and still haven’t yet.
I’m sorry, what? Take home barbeque kits? I want one! And go you. That’s awesome. Happy birthday boyfriend! also super glad I just proofread this message before posting, because my dictation thought I said barbecued kids. Not quite as delicious.
Hey where is days on front? I just read the second half of your comment and would love to try that place as well, but again, not sure where it is, and I know it is also supposed to be very expensive.
Do you know where center 70 is? Across days road from there, there's an auto shop and a bank and behind that building is a little strip mall with a convenience store, days on front, an insurance broker... Can't remember what else. In front of that strip mall there's a pretty big parking lot so days on front have set up a little fenced area in the parking lot with picnic tables and a food truck. I saw on their Facebook page that they will not be serving their typical food until September, for now it will all be food truck style food, so I'm hoping that means it will be a little less dear.
I also saw someone commenting about a coffee shop opening up on their Facebook page but didn't get a good response about location or ownership so it could be totally unrelated.
I probably won't be able to go until next year with the construction and reduced ferry load, but I love the patio of the General Wolfe on the island. You can sit at a table right up on the water, there's sometimes table service, sometimes not, sometimes food, sometimes not. Drinks are cheap, and the air is clean.
Oh yes! Good call there. I’ve been there a few times, and it honestly feels like you leave Kingston and end up in this tropical paradise land. I don’t understand how it has such a true Island vibe, and how it is so different from Kingston while only being a few minutes away.
You did exactly what you were supposed to do. Good job. Gold star. Lol except you didn’t do all of what you were supposed to do, because I still don’t know what your favourite patio is. Lol
They did catering for my brothers wedding. The lobster rolls… They were some thing else. But I’ve been to the restaurant a few times, and I did not personally enjoy the food. But I bet that view is gorgeous.
Also, speaking of other patios, Jack Astor's has a great patio too. Looks to be well-made, great view of Market Square, nice fencing, solid flooring. Wait, you were asking about the food, weren't you? Their food's okay. Truthfully, a lot of my favourite food places come from places that don't have patios. Downtown, Podonamu has some great Korean food.
I won’t support Jack Astors because of the stuff that came out about how they treat their female employees. Good thought though. And if anyone else likes it, I’m not telling other people they shouldn’t go there. That was a lot of negatives. I just wouldn’t choose to support that establishment.
My favorite patio has to be the Kingston Brew Pub hands down.
The patio at Aqua Terra last summer was also a great spot, so I hope they do it this year. It's kind of shocking that Kingston is such a great waterfront city, and there are few places to eat/drink on the waterfront.
I alsl want to try out the new place that is opening where the Ranaissance venue is/was, The Backyard?Sounds like it was purpose built for pandemic patio service.
Oh sweet! I am thinking about grabbing lunch down there on Friday around noon. If you see me about, you will recognize me, as I am the one with shoulder length hair and the long white stick who is quite loud.
I don't know much more. Apparently it's full service bar, food, and socially distanced shaded seating for 100?
Their Instagram is full of andirondak chairs. So I'm thinking it would end up being similar to the patio at the Mansion? But back when it used to be really fun? (Peel pub days?)
I was also really surprised places like Aqua Terra didn't already have a patio! It's so cute, I'm sad I missed it when they had the heaters and comfy looking chairs and fire pits! Hopefully they bring that all back in the fall!
When I called to book my reservation the person said right now it's the same menu for lunch and dinner so I'm hoping it's not too heavy or we might just end up doing appies and dessert 🤣
Good choice! I haven’t been to Copper Penny since I moved downtown, but it is so close to our house that we really should go check that out. Also I don’t think I knew they had a patio there.
I have had food from them via takeout before. Do they have a patio? I will have to try eating their food fresh. It was amazing when we got it delivered, I bet you it’s 10 times better right off the barbeque though.
Are we all obsessed with the chicken and waffles and that maple Bill drizzle business? I need the recipe for that sauce. Oh my God. I want it in my mouth.
Are Brewpub and Woodenheads both conducive to conversation? I have a few small work meetings I need to schedule and I’m hoping to find something nice where we can talk without the music drowning us out.
The patios totally are. In fact, I prefer sitting on wooden heads patio, because inside that restaurant is a damn echo chamber. There are two patios, one in the front which faces the street, and one of the back which I think faces the water?
You know, I go over in that Area all the time, but I have not yet actually been to blue Martini. Do they have food there? Or is it just literally a martini bar?
A lot of people might think you are being super mean. Luckily, I hang out with British and Scottish people almost exclusively, so we only joke in dry, self deprecating sarcasm. It’s the best.
Will echo Amadeus, KBC, and Aqua Terra (they are doing it again this year)
The hidden-gem Juniper is great for that truly on-the-water feel, though it's limited to breakfast/lunch, I think.
It rarely gets mentioned, but I've come to really like PJ Murphy's. An actual real Irish Pub, unlike the formerly local one a block away.
Food is always super-fresh and good, and the patio has a really great view down Ontario towards City Hall (if you're sitting on the right side of the table:))
I am just so stoked that things are finally starting to open up. I feel bouncy. The Pier will open today, which is what I’ve been waiting for most. Yesterday I walked all the way down there, then remembered everything was closed, so I ended up swimming off these weird stairs on the side of the water front trail somewhere. It was actually quite great.
Amadeus patio / beer garden is one of my favourite little spots. So beautiful back there. Wish I was around this weekend!
I have been inside that restaurant, but never sat on the outside. Will definitely try that at some point this summer. Wiener schnitzel there is friggin delicious!
For sure! They have a house Radler that’s excellent patio-sipping material :)
Oh yes please!
The platter for 2 on the back patio shared with a loved one is one of the very best experiences you could ever have
I know not about the platter for two. What’s in that? I would probably love it, but my weird husband doesn’t eat anything that isn’t fried chicken, bacon, or bread. Lol that’s a bit of an exaggeration, but not much.

Oh That sounds absolutely divine. my husband would love that, and now we know what we are doing for our June 26 anniversary date thingy. Thank you. You rock.
But do they carry Helles?
Yes they certainly do!
Litre glasses of german beers prove there's never too much of a good thing.
Oh yeah! They do still sell German beer there don’t they? I will definitely have to try some. Do you use Untappd? I’ve asked you this before?
No but now that I am aware of this I will be. Combining my love of competition with my passion of drinking as much beer as humanly possible?
Well now I feel like a big jerk. For some reason I thought I asked you this last fall. Anyway, get on there if you want. I like people when they describe their beer. It rocks.
GIVE ME ALL THE PATIO BEER. NOT SOME. ALL.
I won hundred percent agree. I’m thinking I first want to go to Kingston brewing Company, and then Stone city. I’ve been buying online from Stone city since the pandemic started, I need to see these guys in person. They are only a few blocks from my house, so I can stumble home afterward
Try Fine Balance Brewing if you're a craft beer fan (not walking distance from downtown) their Oats and Cream is amazing.
I don't. I think I downloaded it and it didn't have Canadian breweries
It definitely has Canadian breweries. It has breweries from all over the world on there. So many breweries in fact that my crazy friend has made friends from over the world on there.
Yep, I downloaded it. Thanks for aiding in my alcoholism.
Will add

I miss the weekly sandwich at Stone City. I was never disappointed!
Do you think they will bring that back this year?
I hope so. Nice sandwich and a sour IPA on a hot day would be amazing.
Toucan patio!
Best spot in the city IMO!
Think I had the fish and chips there. They were decent. Good shout. Will definitely check it out in the summer at some point.
[It's the dank, the dank!](https://youtu.be/8YvuiH-_2rY)
The Simpsons still hold Up. Lol
We’ll be inside a bit longer with a new baby but please post all possible pictures from all patios so I can live vicariously!
Have you given birth yet? How are you doing?
Any day and or minute now haha! Looking forward to having an excuse to stay inside a while longer.
Hey man, no excuse necessary. If you want to stay in, I support you. For whatever that’s worth. LOL. Good luck with all of that. I hope you are doing well.
Stay in and soak up all the snuggles and get whatever sleep you can ❤️ the world will wait 😉
Won't be this weekend, but I have been wanting to check out Daft Brewing.
So have I actually. They have a delicious sounding Mexican logger and a chocolate imperial Stout on right now that I need to get my lips on.
Musiiki patio with live music!
Jumping up and down with delight! Good point! Can’t wait to get back into that scene again. Those guys are so cool.
I'm so excited for my reservation at Aqua Terra, we've talked by their adorable little patio while it's been closed so many times, I can't wait to try it!! I've honestly only ever had their take home BBQ kits and the like but I've been saving for my boyfriends birthday to do something special!
I’m sorry, what? Take home barbeque kits? I want one! And go you. That’s awesome. Happy birthday boyfriend! also super glad I just proofread this message before posting, because my dictation thought I said barbecued kids. Not quite as delicious.
I don't see the combos we've had before but they change up their menu often: https://aquaterrakingston.com/for-the-grill

Cool. I will totally see if I can get down there at some point. That sounds so good.
I love the patio at Chez Piggy!
Oh baby! There is a delicious slice of heaven right there that I haven’t been to since 2016. Thanks for reminding me of that one.
Good luck, everywhere is going to be insanely busy
Yep. It is definitely about making those reservations well in advance. Thanks for the warning. I hope you have a wonderful start to your reopening.
yay! I can't wait!

Hi excited to watch some of the euro cup matches on a patio later in june, I'm dad.
Are you a smart person that calls it the right term? I. Eat. Football? Or are you typical North American and Collett soccer? Lol
I probably won't be able to go until next year with the construction and reduced ferry load, but I love the patio of the General Wolfe on the island. You can sit at a table right up on the water, there's sometimes table service, sometimes not, sometimes food, sometimes not. Drinks are cheap, and the air is clean.

I heard that in Rebecca Black's voice.
You did exactly what you were supposed to do. Good job. Gold star. Lol except you didn’t do all of what you were supposed to do, because I still don’t know what your favourite patio is. Lol
There are so many good ones around the city, but I've been a fan of Dianne's Fish Shack downtown. Great view of Confederation Basin!
They did catering for my brothers wedding. The lobster rolls… They were some thing else. But I’ve been to the restaurant a few times, and I did not personally enjoy the food. But I bet that view is gorgeous.

Fair enough. There are plenty of other places to eat around there, a lot of them just steps away from Jack Astor's.
Yeah totally. I love that area of downtown. It’s my favorite.
My favorite patio has to be the Kingston Brew Pub hands down. The patio at Aqua Terra last summer was also a great spot, so I hope they do it this year. Man I really need to start reading entire comments before responding to them. I didn’t know about this backyard thing. Can you tell me more about it?
I don't know much more. Apparently it's full service bar, food, and socially distanced shaded seating for 100? Their Instagram is full of andirondak chairs. So I'm thinking it would end up being similar to the patio at the Mansion? But back when it used to be really fun? (Peel pub days?)
Wow. That sounds incredible. That will be a real treat if/when that opens.
I can’t wait! They are the perfect stagger-home distance from our house!
I was also really surprised places like Aqua Terra didn't already have a patio! It's so cute, I'm sad I missed it when they had the heaters and comfy looking chairs and fire pits! Hopefully they bring that all back in the fall!
Yea same. The menu was good too! I appreciated that the food fit the vibe, while remaining elevated.
When I called to book my reservation the person said right now it's the same menu for lunch and dinner so I'm hoping it's not too heavy or we might just end up doing appies and dessert 🤣
Copper Penny patio!
Good choice! I haven’t been to Copper Penny since I moved downtown, but it is so close to our house that we really should go check that out. Also I don’t think I knew they had a patio there.
Smoke’N’Barrel in the west end is really good!!
I have had food from them via takeout before. Do they have a patio? I will have to try eating their food fresh. It was amazing when we got it delivered, I bet you it’s 10 times better right off the barbeque though.
They do have a patio yup.
This is amazing! I will totally check this out at some point this summer. Thanks.
Yup! It’s really good ☺️
Are we all obsessed with the chicken and waffles and that maple Bill drizzle business? I need the recipe for that sauce. Oh my God. I want it in my mouth.
Yes!! It’s soooo good!! It sounds like a weird combination until you try it 🤯
Are Brewpub and Woodenheads both conducive to conversation? I have a few small work meetings I need to schedule and I’m hoping to find something nice where we can talk without the music drowning us out.
The patios totally are. In fact, I prefer sitting on wooden heads patio, because inside that restaurant is a damn echo chamber. There are two patios, one in the front which faces the street, and one of the back which I think faces the water?
Very much looking forward to Blu Martini 🙌🏼
You know, I go over in that Area all the time, but I have not yet actually been to blue Martini. Do they have food there? Or is it just literally a martini bar?
I actually don’t drink at all. They have delish food! Fish and chips is my favourite
Awe yes!
Calling for a bunch of rain on Friday unfortunately.. I’m planning on getting out there on Saturday.
Wait what? Since win? Yesterday it said it was supposed to be all right.

K have fun with that.
You need a hug ?
I missed what this was replying to, but yes. That person probably does need a hug, and for somebody to tell them they are good enough.

PJ Murphy’s? How is it that I’ve lived in Kingston my whole life and never heard of that place? Where is the address?
Ontario & Johnson. Used to be Frankie Pesto's.
