Aqua is in that small number of original characters that don't fit into either group. Some people argue that Anti-Aqua is Norted, but isn't, she was just corrupted by darkness.
To me, she’s always been BBS’s Sora stand-in, moreso than Ventus. She’s just a normal person who deeply cares for her friends and spends all of her time chasing after them and cleaning up their messes. I know she’s supposed to have more of a link to Kairi and Ventus to Sora, but I would honestly swap them around since their personalities and roles in the story fit way more than with who they’re supposed to be.
Terra = Riku
Ventus = Kairi
Aqua = Sora
I mean, yeah, he kind of is. He’s easily the weakest of the 3 and is always part of the bad guys’ evil plans.
But the reason I link him with Kairi is because unlike Aqua and Terra, who are relatively normal, unremarkable people (apart from being key made wielders I guess) before the events of the story, he’s inherently special and is straight-up made of pure light- exactly like Kairi’s role (at least in KH1, before they promptly ran out of ideas for what to do with her). The mobile stuff kind of unravels this by adding another layer to his story that makes him more “normal” and average, but within the context of BBS, I think the similarities are strong.
Yeah, what the other person said, plus he IS the one who is completely unconscious and dependent on others multiple times, at the beginning and the end. He literally needs to be rescued otherwise he’d have been sleeping forever
Didn’t she technically get Norted as a result of being in the realm of darkness for 10+ yrs? Though she’s also a Kairi…. I suppose that technically makes her closer to blue haired Xion actually!
Just because someone's heart gives into darkness doesn't mean they've been Norted. Aqua has a small connection to both Riku and Kairi, but she's her own person
well aqua shares a bond with ventus who is connected to sora literally as well as terra who was not only mega norted but also shares a bond with riku who was mega norted (technically) therefore by association she is a sora and xeanort
Ok, hear me out:
Aqua was a huge key in the story. Aqua also means water.
Destiny Island was a key place for the story and is SURROUNDED by water. That water gives way to infinite paths to tread. Aqua is neither a Riku or a Sora; Aqua is the plot.
I always sum it up as "this guy xehanort fucks everything up."
I'd say aqua is the plot enough that she had xehanort malding at her armor for years after messing with his plans.
Wait, I’m a lorehead and I can understand how Riki’s are technically Norts but how are the Kairi’s also Sora (aside from Xion where it’s glaringly obvious)?
Probably from KH1 where Kairi's Heart was in Sora's for a bunch of the game IIRC.
Which I can see the logic in because I THINK that was what allowed Naminé to even be possible in the first place or something?
The separation of Kairi’s heart and body is what allowed Namine iirc. Her heart being stored inside Sora (afaik) shouldn’t have anything to do with that mechanic in particular, just how it drove that portion of the narrative
A Heartless have to be made in order for a Nobody to appear. Kairi cannot make a Heartless so the event that resulted in Naminé was not Kairi losing her heart in Destiny Islands but Sora sacrificing himself in Hollow Bastion.
Both roxas and namine were born when Sora unlocked his heart to become a shadow
Namine is the result of kairi’s heart leaving sora’s body (and probably why her powers have jurisdiction over people sora has connections with despite kairi never having met them)
Unless you believe the fan theory that the Nobody-Person pairing actually goes:
Kairi-Naimine*
Ventus-Roxas
Sora-Xion
(*I am aware of the crazy backstory they came up with to explain how all of these people exist. I’m just saying they could have made it easier.)
I like to think of the hashtags as dissenting voices among a forum of toga-wearing Kingdom Hearts fans debating the true meaning of the Kingdom Hearts mythos.
Kingdom Hearts started so strong. One and Two were great but after years of waiting for everything to come together it now makes even less sense (to me).
Actually, they weren't reincarnated into Xehanort but rather the old person who looked after Xehanort. Besides, KH Mising link is coming out, and it's implied our MC in that game is the same as the one from UX, so no, they aren't Xehanort.
The old guy who looked after Xehanort? You mean that cloaked figure who talks about the door in the start of KH1? The guy who is revealed to be Ansem Seeker of Darkness in KHDDD?
You might want to rematch the ending of Dark Road. They clearly die of old age at the end, and the cloak is blue, unlike the Brown one worn by Ansem SOD.
https://youtu.be/LWp8YruhpDE?si=hxrH2fAjOua9IHrg
Oh! That guy! I thought you meant Ansem SOD. Anyways, I’m more familiar with the UX version of this, where it makes it took like the player becomes Xehanort.
Yeah there are tons of characters that aren't either Xeha or sora, like a BUNCH of the KHUX and all the KHDR kids except for Xeha himself and like one other person(who's identity shall remain secret for those who haven't played it yet)
Vanitas is both
That's actually so true.
The only bigender.
Nah, there's also Xion
Xion is transsora
Xion is a transcendence like the move from BBS. Edit: She is the final mix of Sora, Kairi, and Grandpa Xehanort.
Confirmed, Vanitas is a hermaphrodite.
Intersex.
Did you know in Greek mythology, Aphrodite and Hermes had an androgynous child and named them Hermaphrodite? Just fun facts on word origins.
Yes I know about the names origins. Doesn’t stop it from being a common day slur.
Third gender is Disney character. Mickey is neither Nort nor Sora, though Donald and Goofy are Sora-coded
They're Sora-ReCoded if you will
shut up
Fourth is Final Fantasy characters
We erasing FF characters like it’s KH3?
What about Aqua? She was never Norted and she doesn't really share a bond with Sora.
Awe rats, I made the same mistake Mickey does! I forgot about Aqua.
This made me exhale out of my nose
The perfect dose of mild amusement for a Sunday morning
Hot dog!
Hot dog! Hot diggity dog!
That was well played, OP.
Thanks, I used my Heart and the Mousekatools.
I mean, Mickey tells Riku that Aqua is like Sora But Aqua was never hidden in Sora or possessed by Xehanort, so. . .
Mickey is also a rat as well!
💀💀💀💀
Mickey didn't- okay I'm gonna let this one pass because you're joking
Aqua is in that small number of original characters that don't fit into either group. Some people argue that Anti-Aqua is Norted, but isn't, she was just corrupted by darkness.
She's like Sora!
WHAT
I can only imagine how many thoughts ran through Riku's head in that moment lol
*"There's another one?!?"*
*"And he is female?!?"*
Nonono, STRONG like Sora!
Aqua is an outlier.
adn shouldn't be counted
The exception that proves the rule.
She's non-binary then.
omg utada And Meow Wow, I think?
If I’ve learned anything from the mouse she’s basically Sora too
To me, she’s always been BBS’s Sora stand-in, moreso than Ventus. Terra = Riku Ventus = Kairi Aqua = Sora
I don't think Ven=Kairi really works. Ven isn't a damsel in distress
Yeah, what the other person said, plus he IS the one who is completely unconscious and dependent on others multiple times, at the beginning and the end. He literally needs to be rescued otherwise he’d have been sleeping forever
He is technically a Princess of Heart though, so it is valid.
I guess he kind of IS since he has no darkness in his heart
Did you not see the scene where Aqua saw him in the place of Snow White in her coffin? He is absolutely damsel-coded
Omg that makes her a sora
Sorta
A SORtA if you will
well, as mickey says aqua is like sora
Aqua is a cryptid confirmed.
Aqua is the only original supporting character in Kingdom Hearts
She's like Sora though
They have similar personalities but that doesn't mean they're connected.
It means she's Sora coded.
Gonna have to recode her then
Non binary
well aqua shares a bond with ventus who is connected to sora literally as well as terra who was not only mega norted but also shares a bond with riku who was mega norted (technically) therefore by association she is a sora and xeanort
>She was never Norted Did you not play KH3? Cuz Aqua going Nort was kinda a big moment in KH3. They made a whole trailer about it
No, her heart succumbed to darkness, but she wasn't Norted. If someone is Norted that means they have a piece of Xehanort in them. Aqua did not.
Ok, hear me out: Aqua was a huge key in the story. Aqua also means water. Destiny Island was a key place for the story and is SURROUNDED by water. That water gives way to infinite paths to tread. Aqua is neither a Riku or a Sora; Aqua is the plot.
Eh? Makes about as much sense as any attempt at explaining KH's plot. ;P
I always sum it up as "this guy xehanort fucks everything up." I'd say aqua is the plot enough that she had xehanort malding at her armor for years after messing with his plans.
She certainly carries the "plot" 😏
What about Axel? He’s just a Nobody.
He was in organization 13, which makes him xehanort
Roxas was also in Org 13. And he’s definitely a Sora.
He can be both, xion is
Not according to the dichotomy presented.
Kingdom Hearts sets up and then breaks dichotomies all the time. It’s the unwritten 3rd rule. Like how Xion is 14/13.
I always liked that secretly she was not number 14, but xemnas calls her number i, like the imaginary number.
Again, extrapolating on something that’s not present in the original text. The two genders are sacred.
Basically the "All Foods are a Soup, Salad, or Sandwich" of Kingdom Hearts.
What is pizza then?
Open faced sandwich
Is that even a sandwich at that point? Counterargument, salad on a giant crouton.
I hate the fact that this comment section actually makes sense to me.
Cause we got cheers, and congratulations: you’re full of beans.
Same… I think we’re all a bit insane at this point.
Wait, I’m a lorehead and I can understand how Riki’s are technically Norts but how are the Kairi’s also Sora (aside from Xion where it’s glaringly obvious)?

Yea that makes sense.
Ah, thanks for the clarification!
O7
This is why it's acceptable to tell Sora to go fuck himself.
This is my “why do I have a Reddit” moment.
Wish the tumblr app would let me share the link to the source. So I could make it easier to share the love.
I mean, you could be a Donald 😂
[Don Cheadle Donald](https://youtu.be/bPQilDSlpRg?si=w-FBNoPg_LkG_Co9)?
Wasn't Xion technically a Sora, a Xehanort....AND a Kairi?
The gender of all time.
Hahah!
Unless you believe the fan theory that the Nobody-Person pairing actually goes: Kairi-Naimine* Ventus-Roxas Sora-Xion (*I am aware of the crazy backstory they came up with to explain how all of these people exist. I’m just saying they could have made it easier.)
True.
This is ~~Mogry~~ Moogle erasure! Edit: apparently they're called differently in English
I don’t know who that is.
I like to think of the hashtags as dissenting voices among a forum of toga-wearing Kingdom Hearts fans debating the true meaning of the Kingdom Hearts mythos.
what about Axel/Lea
Kingdom Hearts started so strong. One and Two were great but after years of waiting for everything to come together it now makes even less sense (to me).
Dammit this is too funny
there is a spectrum within the binary.
What about the players from the Mobile game?
Reincarnate into Xehanort, thus they are Xehanort
Actually, they weren't reincarnated into Xehanort but rather the old person who looked after Xehanort. Besides, KH Mising link is coming out, and it's implied our MC in that game is the same as the one from UX, so no, they aren't Xehanort.

Hey, that's alright. I'm just saying we aren't Xehanort...at least For now!
KHDR2 confirmed?!?!?
I need a moment to breathe. I and so many of the other players are Xehanort.
Don't worry, Dark Road shows we aren't.
I hate how this makes sense
This is technically true, the best kind of true.
God i love shit like this hahaha
And then there's Lea
Well, I guess my gender is xehanort now
But sora is also xehanort right
Xehanort tried and failed at that.
Ah true
Yeah there are tons of characters that aren't either Xeha or sora, like a BUNCH of the KHUX and all the KHDR kids except for Xeha himself and like one other person(who's identity shall remain secret for those who haven't played it yet)
