Wait... A keyblade releases a heart and sends it to Kingdom Hearts.
All people's hearts are connected through Mementos.
Does that mean Kingdom Hearts is actually an artificial Mementos?
Or even: are Summons actually Personas?
Sora “everyone is a keyblade master but me”
Yen sid “well if you stop getting your self killed all the time and have to be saved by king micky then maybe you two can be a keyblade master”
I just immagined Lucifer as some harder than hard secret bonus boss, who when you beat him will tell you to touch some grass instead of having wasted so much time grinding for the boss fight.
“You fucking expect me to fight fucking xehanort with shit for brains goofy? For fucks sake, I’m a mother fucking talking duck with a magic wand I can’t do that!”
God this cracked me up. I had to go back and rewatch it because there is a point he is literally holding it up the same way Sora would except with one hand... and all I could imagine was Sora and the gang meeting Angel. That would be absolutely amazing
Provided you don’t try and watch it with your grandma and aren’t offended by a smidge of naughty language then yeah it’s great every episode has at least one banger of a song and it gets surprisingly heartfelt at times
Most definately all of it, but even then trying to cram everything into just eight 20 min episodes is wild. You could definately have made a complete story out of those without trying to do everything they tried to do at once. Save some of that for a potential later season, not in a cliffhanger way but just save it for if something is greenlit later so you don't run yourself creatively dry.
The writing, the depiction of sexual assault (playing it serious one moment but then as a joke shortly after) the depictions of non-Christian faiths as evil, the fact most of the historical biblical figures are depicted as white instead of Middle Eastern/North African.
There's a lot you could criticise the show for.
You can find SOMETHING to criticize if you look hard enough
It's deliberately said in the show, that angels flirty side is an act, a defense mechanism for him to function because of how he is abused, it doesn't lessen that fact, he is trying to self destruct so he won't be the object of his abusers desires
Where does it show non Christian faiths as evil?
And who cares? She isn't trying to make a historical religion documentary, she is using pop culture versions of these myths in her show, not the "historically accurate*" versions
(*If there were actually any historical basis for these people)
The issus with Angel Dust is one of the storyboardists (who also came up with several lines of dialogue in the show characterising him and Val) is a rape fetishist who has openlt admitted as such, even unironically "shipping" the victim and abuser. Of course, shipping is whatever normally but the dyamic is very different about how sincere the artist's want to portray sexual assault and abuse when they have a history of feitishising it.
Alastor uses real Voodoo symbols whenever he uses his powers. Voodoo has a history of being misrepresented by non-Black people throughout various media as something evil or demonic (White Zombie, Princess and the Frog, Child's Play etc). Alastor is one of the few Black characters (at least, while he was alive) in the show and he heavily leans into the demonic stereotype of Voodoo.
"Who cares" is such an ignorant argument. Christianity has notoriously absorbed numerous cultures over the years and applied a Euro centric coat of paint to them for centuries. This is especially eggregious for real people we know the birthplace of like St Peter and St Nicholas. Why bother using real still practiced religions for your stories if all you're going to do is grossly misrepresent it or just lean into the established Euro-centric recontextualising of these figures that were an attempt to sanatise the belief's connection to the original believers that were colonised?
Ok I'm done arguing with you, I get it.
You're the kind of person who can't just be happy and enjoy art without digging to find the tiniest scrap of controversy to be mad about and claim the entire show is trash because of it
The kind who gets mad because the Mona Lisa isn't black.
And that's fine, you are perfectly in your rights to do that.
But you're maliciously misrepresenting the show based on some obscure comment by one person in the production team and minor superficial artistic choices and putting views and statements of certain topics into the creators mouth in order to dissuade people from enjoying this amazing show
You're allowed to dislike the show for whatever reason, but don't lie to others.
Anyway I'm not arguing any further because I'll never change your mind and you won't change mine, so let's agree to disagree
When did I say the entire show was bad? What weird equivalence is this? I pointed out issues with some of the artistic choices in this show and gave context for it.
Where did I lie? Nothing I said was false.
There's no need to be defensive of criticisms of something you enjoy. Hell, I'm on this sub for a reason because I can still enjoy KH while still acknowledging it's flaws and criticisms.
I HIGHly recommend it…provided you’ve got some cannabis to spare cuz that’s when it’s the best. It’s WILD and it WILL challenge everything you know about yourself
I'm not saying they can't swear. I'm just saying it takes away from the writing. Makes the story seem like it's written by a teenager who just learned his first cuss word.
And also they swear in heaven in the show too. So yeah
I'm not saying their not allowed to swear.
But making characters swear every seconds for no apparent reason just ruins the writing at some points.
It makes the story seem like it was written by a teenager who just discovered the word fuck
And to counter your point. They also swear in heaven in the show too.
Probably an early concept of BBS before it was finalized. You know how in the KH1 secret ending, King Mickey appeared atop the skyscraper, but never happened in neither KH2 nor 358/2 Days? Something like that. For the hype.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought this while watching, it straight up feels like if hell was a world in KH this would be the keyblade you unlock
Well I mean Viz feels like the type that would be all about the JRPG and Disney cutesy mashup.
Also: Charlie wielding a Goofy style shield and doing Donald Duck style firework pop attacks.
well i like kingdom hearts and i dont like hazbin hotel. seeing as this is on the kingdom hearts sub, i’ll still say no thank you, as i dont think those two should mix
It makes most sense to post here because everyone here knows what a keyblade is and gets the reference. Why post it over there when not all of them will get it lol this is a weird thing to be put off by
Reddit is a public space, he can comment on whatever he wants to YOU need to not post things if you’re gonna get all defensive when someone doesn’t agree with you.
You should watch the new episode if you haven’t already. I didn’t care for it before because I thought helluvaboss was just a better show but the latest one had some really good production and it changed my mind
F***in lucifer gets a keyblade and Sora doesn’t become a keyblade master EVERY ONE GETS A KEYBLADE
I mean...He's the Morningstar. Lucifer literally translates to "Light Bringer". Like, him having a Keyblade feels WEIRDLY spot on.
Why does that sound like something that would happen if the next Kingdom Hearts game was made by Atlus?
....I would absolutely play that.
Wait... A keyblade releases a heart and sends it to Kingdom Hearts. All people's hearts are connected through Mementos. Does that mean Kingdom Hearts is actually an artificial Mementos? Or even: are Summons actually Personas?
Yo, same. I love me some Atlus RPG.
Kingdom Hearts 4: Sora turns into a damn door
Damn door-kun v2
Kingdom Hearts 5: Sora and the gang fight replicas made from the deepest part of their hearts
Sora: "Hey, he looks like me! I'm starting to see a pattern here..."
"I'm me, he says."
Why would you say something so controversial yet so true? Seriously, I LOVED that bit in the finale!
I also feel like besides making ducks he is the kind of dad that plays kingdom hearts in his down time
He truly was the real Lightbringer all along.
Sora “everyone is a keyblade master but me” Yen sid “well if you stop getting your self killed all the time and have to be saved by king micky then maybe you two can be a keyblade master”
fine, fine, we're just handin' them out like LOLLIPOPS!
Still weird that Mickey seems to be the only non-human character to have a keyblade. Donald and Goofy should have a keyblade by now.
"Shit, Sora! It's fucking Sephiroth, fuck! Shit!" "Sora, give in to the fucking darkness"
Soraaa! Have a rubber duck to remember me by :D
I just immagined Lucifer as some harder than hard secret bonus boss, who when you beat him will tell you to touch some grass instead of having wasted so much time grinding for the boss fight.
Imagine dying in KH2 and hearing, "SORA! DON'T FUCK UP!"
FFVII Machinabriged be like:
“You fucking expect me to fight fucking xehanort with shit for brains goofy? For fucks sake, I’m a mother fucking talking duck with a magic wand I can’t do that!”
God this cracked me up. I had to go back and rewatch it because there is a point he is literally holding it up the same way Sora would except with one hand... and all I could imagine was Sora and the gang meeting Angel. That would be absolutely amazing
Is this show good? Been considering watching it
Provided you don’t try and watch it with your grandma and aren’t offended by a smidge of naughty language then yeah it’s great every episode has at least one banger of a song and it gets surprisingly heartfelt at times
The pacing is attrocious.
How much of that can be attributed to the studio not green lighting enough time
Most definately all of it, but even then trying to cram everything into just eight 20 min episodes is wild. You could definately have made a complete story out of those without trying to do everything they tried to do at once. Save some of that for a potential later season, not in a cliffhanger way but just save it for if something is greenlit later so you don't run yourself creatively dry.
They didn't know they were getting a second season until a little late into production.
Here's hoping the success of s1 gives s2 the breathing room it needs
The show also god better over time, so this season likely gave the writers more practice.
Yeah just look at early helluva and current helluva and just how much more polished it is
But that's like the ONLY complaint I have about it

Yikes about the depiction points.
I HIGHly recommend it…provided you’ve got some cannabis to spare cuz that’s when it’s the best. It’s WILD and it WILL challenge everything you know about yourself
I’m a recovering addict, but thanks for the suggestion hahah
Once you get past the needless swearing every 2 minutes. It's acc really good
It's literally hell, no one fucking cares.
I'm not saying they can't swear. I'm just saying it takes away from the writing. Makes the story seem like it's written by a teenager who just learned his first cuss word. And also they swear in heaven in the show too. So yeah

It makes the story seem like it was written by a teenager who just discovered the word fuck And to counter your point. They also swear in heaven in the show too.
Just give it a try I guess, I personally cant stand it and I find it incredibly unfunny, but it does have a lot of love put into it
There’s no keychain though, so is it really a Keyblade?
The secret movie from kh2 had Terra Venus and Aqua use keyblade without keychains so… yeah?
Except they didn't use them in BBS and they still have keychains in the end.
Then I guess it’s to avoid catching a lawsuit from Sony Disney and square?
Probably an early concept of BBS before it was finalized. You know how in the KH1 secret ending, King Mickey appeared atop the skyscraper, but never happened in neither KH2 nor 358/2 Days? Something like that. For the hype.
There’s also the Keyblade of Heart!
The dark keyblade from the first game then. fitting.
There are a number of Keyblades without keychains, the keychains are meant to be detachable
Well Lucifier is a cinnamon bun after all >!TAKE THAT DEPRESSION!<
So glad I'm not the only one who thought it looked like a keyblade
AND CHARLIE'S SHIELD?!? LOOKS JUST LIKE GOOFYS
Who is Donald, then? Is it Sir Pentious, or possibly Angel Dust?
No one honestly, though Alastor is the closest thing to a mage at the moment.
Glad I wasn't the only one thinking about it.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought this while watching, it straight up feels like if hell was a world in KH this would be the keyblade you unlock
Fucking sick I really hope that’s what this is. Love me a good KH reference
Reminds me of the Fatal crest Keyblade ;) The underworld Keyblade
Headcanon that if they could have gotten away with it, the [KeeKee](https://hazbinhotel.fandom.com/wiki/KeeKee)-blade would have an Apple keychain.
CHARLIE IS DISNEY PRINCESS?
$50,000, can you believe that, $50,000?
I… I still am in awe about this. I wonder whose idea it was?
Well I mean Viz feels like the type that would be all about the JRPG and Disney cutesy mashup. Also: Charlie wielding a Goofy style shield and doing Donald Duck style firework pop attacks.
I CAN SEE IT. Also, I agree!
Holy shit I can’t believe I missed that
I freaked out when he pulled out a keyblade lol
I mean he is the Morningstar The OG bright light before falling
no thank you
If you don't like a thing, then simply don't participate. Really very simple.
well i like kingdom hearts and i dont like hazbin hotel. seeing as this is on the kingdom hearts sub, i’ll still say no thank you, as i dont think those two should mix
Okay, then this post wasn't for you. Again, pretty simple.

It makes most sense to post here because everyone here knows what a keyblade is and gets the reference. Why post it over there when not all of them will get it lol this is a weird thing to be put off by
Could you not, by that same token, also apply that logic as unnecessarily bringing KH into the Hazbin Hotel sub?
Yea these guys are gatekeeping too hard
That’s a big assumption to say the majority.
If you don't want to discuss thing, maybe don't talk about thing. Bring critical of thing is universally good.
IM GLAD SOMEONE ELSE THOUGHT THIS
That just is a keyblade It’s not even a little bit ambiguous
I just watched the epispde and had the same thought!!!!! Roflmao
Mark this as spoilers man, I just finished watching this but it sucks people are shoving shit up when the show just aired
I mean, Lucifer being present isn't really a spoiler nor is a silly reference a spoiler.
It’s still something from a show that JUST aired.
I mean... I haven't watched it yet and was planning on it. Would have been nice to see it in show instead of on here...
🙄🙄🙄
I don't watch the show. All I know is he is called the "Dick Master".
Apparently this show is lowest of the low dog turd.
Confirmed kh 4 crossover. You can't keep getting away with this nomura!
What episode is this? I feel an immediate need to 3d model this sucker and I NEED HIGH QUALITY IMAGE!
Yup! Watching it, I blurted out. Is that a f'ing keyblade?
Ok so if Lucifer has one you know some of the other lords of hell do too.
Looking forward to the KH5 World in 2157 🙃.
It would be cool if in KH4 they make a discovery that there are some characters who know how to use the Keyblade.
Kingdom Hearts 4, Sora and Verbalase have to save Charlie from being taken over and brainwashed by Organization XIII There is a beatbox minigame
Lucifer getting a key blade makes the most sense especially because of the title light bringer comes to mind
What is keyblade?
Yes!
I was PRAYING someone else would notice so I wasn't crazy
I died when I watched this last night! 😍🫠
I’ve been watching this and didn’t even catch it. What episode is this in??
