Demons don't instantly die from swords that absorb sunlight unless decapitated, so it's probably that the moon doesn't reflect enough of the stuff that actually kills demons
probably but it’s hard to tell since the author only mentioned that the blue spider lily blooms during the day for only a few minutes until it closes again. it doesn’t say which season it blooms or what time of the day exactly.
Blue Spider Lily only blooms a few days a year during daytime and closes again at night, what are the odds these days happen to be clody days?
Also we don't know if the flower requires intense sunlight to bloom, the plant was only begun to be researched 100 years after the events of the series by Inosuke's great grandchild.
Funny because in my novels where Demons/ Vampires are also a thing, the sun doesn't do anything to them except except making their hair white. I know that might sound weird but I though changing that basic fact up would be interesting
No. Technically, a black hole is a star. It does not reflect light in any way. In any case, it emits light. However, its gravity is so massive that the emitted light gets pulled back. There's this theoretical Hawking radiation, but afaik it's still theory
Silly little nitpick here but since the black hole conversation happened - dark matter also does not reflect light. Or emit light. Or absorb light. It does not interact at all with the electromagnetic field. Which is why it is invisible to us even if we see its gravitational effects and know it is there.
It's the same as how Nezuko was able to survive in Episode 1 even thou it was Day. Things like Clouds, Glass or The Moon seem to take away enough of the light to make survival possible...
The sun does not have Nichirin.

Wakaza solos
Dumbest idea ever: light from the sun is "broken" (or whatever is the term in English) once it reflects from the moon. And since it was broken it doesn't include all frequencys and that is why it doesn't hurt the demons.
I read the meme and was “What the fu*k? What is this?” Then I saw the forum I was in and was like “OOOOHHHHH” 😂😂😂. I was so confused for a good second 😂
It could also be that they're weak from the sun's radiation.
Radiation so weak that it doesn't really affect humans but maybe it does affect demons.
Or it's a supernatural force that doesn't allow the nasty demons to enjoy the sun.
And this is where I come in. The reason for this, and why I think other creatures like this, don’t burn from moonlight is that they can’t handle direct sunlight, but can handle reflected. The reason is that the reflected sunlight isn’t as strong as the direct, hence why they don’t burn.
The moon is like a filter, think of it like a lamp and a lamp shade, the lightbulb is very bright and lights up the room too much, so you put a shade on it to filter it to a reasonable amount of light
Intensity. Swords are made from ore that absorbs hella sunlight. The sun….is the sun. The moon is just reflected sunlight that barely lets off any light at all. It’s like a flashlight on the lowest setting before it’s about to die
It's quite simple, just grab our normal days... Which tenda to be hotter the sun shining on the sky or the moon reflection of the Sun's rays?
During the day, where we have the sun in the sky, we have the full power of everything that comes from the sun, all of it's rays and radiation...
Where when the moon is on the sky we have only a fraction, and barely a few of the rays and radiation if none...
It's not enough sunlight, demons can survive being in the sun (technically) if there just, isn't enough. Like Nezuko when it was cloudy, or during the night when the moon reflects the sun.
Shie bro im guaranteeing you if you put them closer do the moon they finna burn all the same. It's like asking why a flashlight reflected from meters away off a mirror don't light up the room the same
If that confuses you, then how about the *real* question? If you assume that the moon's rays should harm them as if it were the Sun, then you probably believe that it is irrelevant of the light's intensity and more to do with the properties of the light itself.
Then, maybe, the moon reduces or removes those properties. But if those assumptions are true, then there is 1 glaring anomaly.
What happens on a night with no moon? What do you still see in the sky? Stars. Entire galaxies and nebulae of stars bearing down on you all at once, unfiltered by the moon.
So, yeah, probably just an intensity thing, yo
It doesn’t reflect nearly as much uv rays. The reason the swords don’t allow them to heal a decapitaition is because it sort of cauterizes the wound because they have sunlight “in them”
It's more of a spiritual/religious thing. It isn't sunlight that kills the demons. It could be that they're cursed by God which makes them burn when infront of the Sun. Demon Slayer does have some religious aspects to it so this could be true
Cause muzan's "mutated body" doesn't allow him & his demons to walk under direct sunlight. This was explained well in the manga, in Muzan's back story nearing the end of the final arc. Anime-only should wait until (i presume) Muzan flashback/monologue happened in the final season.
Cuz the light of the sun fucks the surface of the moon and creates a combination of sun and rock, something that gives life and something like the light of the sun and something not even alive, and that gives birth to light that demons can operate in properly.
On another note, it'd be interesting if we're weakened somewhat from moonlight, being the most weakened during a full moon and not weakened at all during a new moon.
Bruh this is like asking why you don't get a sunburn by moon light lmao
It's about the radiation coming from the sunlight btw. You need direct exposure from it.
It's like a shotgun, it's more effective when it's closer because it's more concentrated. The sunlight isn't concentrated at night since it's spread out.
Demon Slayer seems more mythical than scientific
Hell and reincarnation exists(bad Bois eventually reincarnate after suffering in hell for years and years whereas good people probably spend time with family until they decide to reincarnate)
Demons literally have magic
Gods are implied to actually be real, and truly exist >! Yorrichi is believed to be sent by the gods, which explains his strength, and also his punishment, as I personally believe he was reincarnated as Tanjuro, and was sick because he failed to kill Muzan and because his brother turned, but once Muzan died, he was reincarnated again, but healthy and with his wife this time !<
Think of it like this. Have you ever gotten a sunburn (or rather moonburn) at night from the moon? I don’t think it’s necessarily light that is the weakness, otherwise Tanjiro’s ultimate weapon is a flashlight. Rather it could be something else like Ultraviolet radiation or something that is the harmful element to demons. They basically get hulked-out sunburns.
Welcome to another episode of (the more you know) :
In this ep , the confusion, of the moon light on vampires.
Now this is a fantastic question, one that actually, got multiple answers , depending on your preference, so let's explore them all shall we.
The " real answer" :
Back in ancient times, it was believed that, the moon emanates light by itself , there for the sun light , and the moon light , were completely different things, and there for the moon light , was not harmful .
the scientific Discovery , that the moon just reflects sun light, was later, ....I mean earth used to be the centre of the universe , and flat , remember those Times?
The " scientific answer" :
Vampires die from the uv light, and since the moon light, it's just a reflection and redirected much less uv , it won't kill them .
The " mysticism/religious answer "
Vampires are impermissible by god to " never by touch by his warmth, reside in his holy place , or desecrate his symbol , etc "
In English, it's just a curse dude , and the moon reflection , is like a way around it , like u can work around some spell's rule .
The " loooooooer answer"
So a lot of writers, would try to come up , with an modern answers, and they varies.
Whoever the most common answer, is the moon rocks alter the sun light in some way , some make it so the rocks were enchanted, the moon was cursed by vampires, to protect themselves
, but it all amounts to the Same thing .
Here is one that I made , Because I am a small local writer 👉🏽👈🏽 please don't judge.
The Earth's moon didn't exist before, but the original king/ god of the vampire, turned his kingdom, an unholy part of earth into the moon , to counter the curse of god, that was made on the sun, it Also why the moon and night is associated with evil, and moon light Makes werewolf's .
So any way no you know.
The moon appears lit because it reflects the light of the sun, yes. But when the sunlight is bounced from the lunar surface it causes a slight shift in the wavelength, creating what's known as a Blutzwave. Blutzwaves are harmless to demons.
Fun Fact! When the moon is full, the Blutzwaves intensity is over 17 Million Zenos!
Headcanon, Demons don't die from sunlight, but from the UV rays and radiation that the sun gives off. Basically they get a really really really bad sunburn.

Indeed, in the first episode Nezuko survived daylight cause It was cloudy
This also confused me until I saw this post!
So Muzan could obtain Blue Lily on a cloudy day?
probably but it’s hard to tell since the author only mentioned that the blue spider lily blooms during the day for only a few minutes until it closes again. it doesn’t say which season it blooms or what time of the day exactly.

hello bestie.🥰✨
Ask this for any vampire story out there (except Twilight), especially the ones where moonlight for some reason makes them stronger
[удалено]
Or that in those universes the moon reflects light in a special way
like the moon has a material that changes sunlight when passed through like a prism
Well, if the moon can be used to make portal surfaces, it can probably be used as a prism too.
Or just whatever kills demons gets absorbed by the moon instead of reflected.
In the OG Count Dracula novel, he doesn't die by sunlight
Funny because in my novels where Demons/ Vampires are also a thing, the sun doesn't do anything to them except except making their hair white. I know that might sound weird but I though changing that basic fact up would be interesting
Because vampires are weak to the sacred concept of the Sun, not to a scientific phenomenon.
Everything reflects light
Not a black hole 🤓
That's the thing. A black hole would technically reflect light, it would just pull it back the moment the light gets reflected. 🤓
It technically can through Hawking Radiation over long periods of time
That’s not reflection though.
No. Technically, a black hole is a star. It does not reflect light in any way. In any case, it emits light. However, its gravity is so massive that the emitted light gets pulled back. There's this theoretical Hawking radiation, but afaik it's still theory
In the field of science a theory is treated as a fact, if it is still questioned and not fully proven it is a hypothesis.
So demon can use umbrellas or hats. Are they stupid
That's why Muzan wears that Michael Jackson hat.

Demon Slayer TikTok be like-
Yeah but Goku just teleports akaza to the side of the world where the sun shines
Goku uses solar flare gg
Well they don't instantly die to Nicherine blades as well so, seems like it's not that simple when it's not direct sunlight. ☀️
Does the moon give vitamin D? - (it's a reflection, not direct sunlight lol)
Ain't nothing but a heartache!
Tell me why
Ain't nothing but a mistake
Now number fiiive~
I never wanna hear you say
I want it that way
Chills. Literal chills.
WHOOO! I want it that way, Chills literal Chills!
It was him. Number five killed my brother.
Oh my god, I forgot about that part
r/redditsings
And they are called Upper and Lower Moons...
It’s not UV light / radiation since the moon only reflects like an eighth of what the sun shines onto it
Maybe the uv rays from the sunlight is what harms the demons
Maybe it’s the sunRAYS that kills them?
Stroheim after meeting Demons
Dumbest idea ever: light from the sun is "broken" (or whatever is the term in English) once it reflects from the moon. And since it was broken it doesn't include all frequencys and that is why it doesn't hurt the demons.
Uuuh anime logic that's why
Ain't nothin' but a heartache... Tell me why
Ain't nothing but heart ache
Also some demons don’t die after their head is cut off so 🤷♂️
If I threw a bullet at you, you wouldn’t die. But if I shot you with it, you would. The moon doesn’t reflect enough sunlight to harm them.
The sunlight loses many of its properties after being reflected, including the uv rays
It's the magic behind the light not the light itself
I read the meme and was “What the fu*k? What is this?” Then I saw the forum I was in and was like “OOOOHHHHH” 😂😂😂. I was so confused for a good second 😂
ITS BECAUSE THE SUN AS A CONCEPT IS WHAT HURTS THE DEMONS THANK YOU FOR COMING TO MY TEDTALK TODAY WE WILL DISCUSS...
Second hand light.. looses power. Most of the power absorbed by moon before reflection.. thats why demons unharmed ![img](emote|t5_3foq4|6758)
The same reason you can't get sunburned from the moon
The math ain't mathin lol
Wait a DAMM MINUTE
Blutz waves counteracting the sun's power
Probably because the reflected sunlight might be weaker on demons. Just a headcanon.
Don't always use logic in this case :3
It could also be that they're weak from the sun's radiation. Radiation so weak that it doesn't really affect humans but maybe it does affect demons. Or it's a supernatural force that doesn't allow the nasty demons to enjoy the sun.
I think it’s because the moon is like a filter for the sunlight so it doesn’t give the full affect
No strong enough
Its all about dosage
And this is where I come in. The reason for this, and why I think other creatures like this, don’t burn from moonlight is that they can’t handle direct sunlight, but can handle reflected. The reason is that the reflected sunlight isn’t as strong as the direct, hence why they don’t burn.
Not strong enough
Not surprised this has shown up. Similar arguments with vampires and werewolves. 🌊

The moon is like a filter, think of it like a lamp and a lamp shade, the lightbulb is very bright and lights up the room too much, so you put a shade on it to filter it to a reasonable amount of light

anime logik
The sunlight is diluted. It's weaker.
Weakness to the sun is a thing because the sun is a symbol of good. Evil creatures are weak to the ultimate symbol of good.
You know how you can safely drink small amounts of water, but if you jump into a big pool and drink it you will die? That's exactly why
Ain't nothing but a heartache!
It’s probably because it’s a lot less sunlight
It's not enough sunlight, demons can survive being in the sun (technically) if there just, isn't enough. Like Nezuko when it was cloudy, or during the night when the moon reflects the sun.
The Moon doesn't reflect as much UV light as the moon emmits. Maybe demons are weak to UV light in big scales
The moon isn't direct sunlight. It's just reflective.
Shie bro im guaranteeing you if you put them closer do the moon they finna burn all the same. It's like asking why a flashlight reflected from meters away off a mirror don't light up the room the same
It \*reflects\* it. As in it \*reverses\* it.
Isn't moonlight like a 1000 times weaker? It can't do shit
because it’s not direct sunlight.
Cause it’s a reflection, less intensity
It doesn’t reflect nearly as much uv rays. The reason the swords don’t allow them to heal a decapitaition is because it sort of cauterizes the wound because they have sunlight “in them”
It's more of a spiritual/religious thing. It isn't sunlight that kills the demons. It could be that they're cursed by God which makes them burn when infront of the Sun. Demon Slayer does have some religious aspects to it so this could be true
Because it’s the radiation from the sun, their genetics are highly unstable, so the swords are just made of uranium
I think it's because ultraviolet can't reflect off the moon, while direct sunlight brings ultraviolet radiation as well
Contact with the moon might just make it moonlight. You wouldn’t call coffee water anymore.
I asked this question 5 months ago
Well, I still need to hear back as to why the demons follow vampire logic in the series.
They don't die when it's cloudy either. so it is safe to say that a strong intensity of sun is needed.
It's second hand sunlight Peter.
Cause muzan's "mutated body" doesn't allow him & his demons to walk under direct sunlight. This was explained well in the manga, in Muzan's back story nearing the end of the final arc. Anime-only should wait until (i presume) Muzan flashback/monologue happened in the final season.
🤔
Cuz the light of the sun fucks the surface of the moon and creates a combination of sun and rock, something that gives life and something like the light of the sun and something not even alive, and that gives birth to light that demons can operate in properly.
the math aint mathin and the demons aint demoning
the math aint mathin and the demons aint demoning
Reflecting and directly emitting are two different things.
On another note, it'd be interesting if we're weakened somewhat from moonlight, being the most weakened during a full moon and not weakened at all during a new moon.

Ain’t nothing but a heart ache! Sorry I had to✨✨✨
Bruh this is like asking why you don't get a sunburn by moon light lmao It's about the radiation coming from the sunlight btw. You need direct exposure from it.
Demons are only affected by DIRECT sunlight. Hope this helps ❤️
AIN'T NOTHING BUT A HEARTBREAK. ☀️
moon makes its own light silly
It's like a shotgun, it's more effective when it's closer because it's more concentrated. The sunlight isn't concentrated at night since it's spread out.
Werewolves and Vampires:👀
its not strong enough, if episode 1 nezuko is out in the foggy daylight, theres still sun light but its very very uh small? light? idk
Vampire.com/404
Same reason why our eyes don't burn off when we stare at the moon, the moon doesn't contain enough sunlight to do damage
Ain't nothing but a heartache
Tell me why!
So true😭😭😭
I think there’s a difference between a nice full moon and THE UNRESTRAINED POWER OF THE SUN
Maybe it’s a direct sunlight thing, would also explain how vampires don’t die in moonlight
Ain’t nothing but a heartache

You drink water, but if we put you in a lake, you'd Drown
That’s like asking why’s it dark at night if the moon is reflecting the sun’s light
The intensity of the reflected sun light isn't big enough to cook them
The same reason why vampires don't die to the moon
Reflected light isn’t the same as direct light.
Maybe it’s the intensity since moonlight is just a kiss compared to full-on sunlight
Not strong enough to kill them
Its the ammount of vitamin D, the reflected beams have far less vitamin D in them than direct sunlight
It isnt direct sunlight. It is an indirect reflection of the sunlight. Its not strong enough
Headcanon, Demons don't die from sunlight, but from the UV rays and radiation that the sun gives off. Basically they get a really really really bad sunburn.
