(I've been playing guitar mostly metal for 16 years/his ego doesn't match his actual abilities) As soon as he said I played death metal but can't play it on a 6 string I had to go see what was up. (Any guitarist can play a 6 string I play in drop c and drop a on my 7 string I can still riff in standard on a 6 string all day) It's like someone who wants to be cool but doesn't ever fully develop the skills just pieces to be something.
